Big W sticks to the essentials (although it does have an optometrist and always brings in the Peter Morrissey range). Woolworths is pretty good for a city centre grocery store. So you get a barber, florist, optometrist, jeweler, internet booths, grog store, newsagent, chemist and large toilets. A few luxury stores are on the Edward Street frontage. This includes the Apple Store. The Shingle Inn here has bad chairs (uncomfortable and dirty) in what would otherwise be quite an ace spot to have a nice lunch. They really, really need to address that and hopefully MC will do something about it. Beware with the parking. The gates to this mall close 9pm on night shopping. There probably is a way to get to the carpark afterwards but we haven't found out how yet. Parking entrance is via Elizabeth Street. There used to be a doorway into Big W from Elizabeth Street, but these days the only entry points are from Edward and Queen Streets. The foodcourt has recently undergone a glossy revamp. The thing that gets me most, however, is despite the lovely space inside (it can't be helped if most of the shops are not very interesting) the outside is and always will be a horror to me. A large steely wedge with sturdy poles clinging onto decorative lacy patterned glass panels. Who what why where? It's so disappointing they whacked that onto the heritage building.

What Macarthur Central lacks in specialty shops and boutiques, it makes up for by providing a stress free shopping experience in a central location and housing a full line Woolworths and Big W. There are a few specialty shops such as Honey Birdette and Oroton but this shopping centre focuses on covering the essentials. There's a decent newsagency, a book shop, chemist, medical centre and a JB Hi Fi where you actually have elbow room. This seems to be the place where all the ATMs like to hang out as well. ANZ, Bank of Queensland, Commonwealth, NAB, Redi ATM and Suncorp can all be found in this complex. Best of all, their food court hosts a wide variety of eating options and you can actually get a table around lunch time. Try the Hainachi here sometime for a fuss free, easy meal. NB: The opening hours refer to the shopping centre but Woolworths and Big W have extended trading hours.

I'm sorry to say I really hate it. You don't have enough undercover spacing as it is let alone putting a car wash in there to take up some of the parks that are much needed. I parked in a spot and was asked to move because it was reserved for the car wash and I was so angry because I couldn't find a park any where else undercover. The park wasn't well signed to say it was reserved. Why can't it be outside? Other than this there isn't much more that I don't agree with I'm happy with the variety of shops and the size of the food court is great.

The centre is quite small which is good, it offers a few cafes and clothes shops. Although it is highly overdue for a renovation.

This old building provides access to Central station, which is why it usually has a high traffic of people who go through it everyday. There is a food court offering decent lunch fares such as sandwiches, carvery hot food and Asian takeaway. Nothing really stands out here, it's quite average, but still good. There are a few specialty shops and specialty services including a dental surgery. It's not really a place where one goes shopping but offers convenient shops and services to commuters of Central Station.

There's not a heap of retail stores like the Myer Centre but the ones there have been around for a while - hairdresser, chemist, hats/accesories, clothing alterations, cheap cosmetics, maps, good women's work attire... And it's well worth the detour outside to go to Chocolate To Die For.

Capalaba Park Shopping Centre is a sub-regional centre in the eastern 'burbs. This means it's…read morebigger than some of the smaller centres, which have around 50-60 shops but smaller than the regional ones, like Carindale, which have about a bazillion. Capalaba Park has 110 shops, which is fairly respectable and you'd hope you could find something to satisfy the shopaholic within here. I usually can and like it because I can almost always find a parking spot straight away and the centre's quite well laid out. The food court's not bad and there's a Target, Coles, Woolies and K-Mart, plus lots of specialty shops.

As for shopping centres this place is a bit of a local scene. Don't travel out of your way for…read morespecialty shopping. You'll probably find what you need, but if you're out and about for a day of shopping, skip Capalaba and head to Carindale! It's about 15 minutes drive away. There's a few cool franchises around if you're hungry, the cinema is close by. It's a good local shopping village if you're nearby. Oh and if you do shop regularly get a "My capalaba rewards card"- see concierge and earn points to spend around the shopping centre.

In the eastern suburbs the biggest 'regional' centres, as they are deemed, are Carindale and Garden…read moreCity. Local residents have said for years that it was a shame for Sunny Park to be wedged between Market Square and Sunnybank Plaza yet have practically no tenants. I think the only thing keeping it afloat during those dark years was the Woolworths in the centre. Perhaps it was everyone using Sunny Park as a free car park for a night out at Market Square that finally roused the owner to action. Well, whatever the reasons Sunny Park is back with a vengeance. New shops, new fittings and a spanking new karaoke bar have transformed this derelict dump into an exciting shopping and dining experience. Nowadays, the neon lights from Newway Karaoke and Cucina of Italy beckon the young and hungry as they drive down McCullough Road. Parkland is the new Chinese restaurant by the same owners of Landmark, and offer late night yum cha. Top Hot Pot and Soman are also worth trying out. During the day, a brand new food court has cropped up with Korean, Turkish and Chinese fare. Plus for all your Chinese grocery needs, Fantastic Food is around the corner from Woolworths. Nowadays I do most of my grocery shopping here because of the easy undercover car park, plus it's fantastic having a Chinese grocery shop so close to Woolworths so I can top up both my Asian and Western pantry in one go. If you want easy, convenient shopping with lots of yummy food options, Sunny Park Shopping Centre is the place to go. NB: The official opening hours of the shopping centre doesn't reflect the opening hours of the restaurants or the Woolworths, Aldi and some of the individual shops.
