I didn't want to leave a review at first but after filling a complaint with them, I think other customers need to hear this before choosing their salon. My first experience here was not the greatest. I went in to get my hair colored/highlighted and instead of getting highlights I got the same color as my natural hair all over. Now I am all about second chances. I called in to explain what happened and they gladly said they would like to fix it. I went in and got it recolored and had a wonderful experience (Note: the stylist who did this unfortunately now works independently elsewhere). This previous time I was a walk-in haircut, with someone new to myself. My hair fell just below my waist and I had asked for 4-5 inches to be taken off and instead I got 8-10. I didn't know until after the appointment how much was really taken, I was devastated because I worked really hard to get my hair that long. Not only was a majority of my hair taken but I was also left with an uneven cut that can even be recognized while wearing it in a ponytail. I called in to cancel any future appointments and to complain about my recent experience. After speaking with the person operating the telephone, I got told that I am just not a good fit for them and that they didn't appreciate me downgrading their salon. In no such way was I downgrading them, I simply wanted to let them know what they did was wrong and wanted them to accept the criticism I was giving them. As I tried to explain further, I kept being interrupted or talked over as if my feelings regarding my taken hair didn't matter and that I should go somewhere else, and yes, I was told to go somewhere else. I have never had such an experience like this anywhere where I was treated with such disrespect when it was my hair, I am trusting them with. Please consider other salons before going here. read more

I had a terrible experience a month ago and left with a yellow/orangish hair color. I was extremely upset however Elaine rescheduled an appointment for me with her and she did an amazing job! Not only do I love my hair , but I won't let another stylist touch it because she did exactly what I had asked for and to top it off the salon did not have me pay for the four hours of work Elaine did due to my previous experience. The salon took care of me but Elaine is an excellent hairstylist and if you show her a picture of what you want , she knows exactly what to do to get you the hair color scheme you want. I've only had great experiences at the Troy Village Salon. I've had a couple stylists, but my go to is Alissa. I saw there were some negative reviews on here, but I disagree with them, especially since I've been going to the salon for at least three years now. Great place to go if you need your hair done and their customer service is great (bought an expensive straightener there that didn't work and they were so quick to replace it). I also, based on the other negative reviews, would encourage people to ask how much the services are before going through with them. I believe they differ between stylists because some have more experience than others. 5/5 overall and I'll continue to go there. read more

I'm over the salon and the hairdresser that works here. 3 times a charm. Not only are they the most expensive salon in the area. The hairdresser doesn't listen when you tell them what you want. So I brought in photos only to get the exact opposite. The first time colored my hair she missed half of my head I tried calling to let her know. never got a callback. So the next appointment I showed her, never offered some kind of credit or discount. Last but not least I was there today, I took photos in. The photo I showed had DARK beach waves with a slight golden tone. I walked out with a HEAD for bleach blonde flat ironed hair. I'm over all of them. read more

I have been going to Brittany Blair for several years and she knows exactly how to handle my hair! She is always a delight and does amazing work. The prices are very reasonable. Alissa!!!!!! Can't say enough about this amazing girl!! She understands everything I want.....most times better than I do. I met her after I had gotten the worst haircut of my life. She was able to salvage it and gave me an awesome short hairstyle. Since then, she has been my girl. This salon is great! I have gone here numerous times to get my hair cut and colored, and even to get my makeup and hair done for prom. Every time has been a very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend going to Village Salon, because the girls are all super friendly and very good at listening and understanding what you want. read more

If you "win" a gift card from here on Facebook, it's a scam. They will overcharge you for everything so that the gift card is worthless! Charged $90 for color, $10 for shampoo AND additional $50 for a cut! Seriously? Cut, color, manicure and pedicure almost $260. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. When questioned about the discrepancy in posted prices on website and Facebook they said prices have increased and Web not updated yet. Been to many nice salons and never heard of such crap. Recently won a gift card, and was really excited to come here for my first visit. The girl who did my hair was very nice, and she did do a nice job on my color. I was so pleased with my experience, that I made my next appointment while I was there. She walked away, and the receptionist checked me out. I had $35 cash, a $100 gift card, and a $10 off coupon to use that they gave me as well. After all of this, I was told I stilled owed $120! When I asked what all I was charged for, I barely got an answer, but I was charged for a hair cut when I got color, which I've never had before. When I had said no one had explained all of this to me, I got a half shoulder shrug, and a "sorry bout that." I also got a gel manicure, and a pedicure. My polish on my toes started chipping by Tuesday, and my gel manicure completely came off by Sunday, a little over a week since my appointment. To say the least, I am disappointed, and I will not be back now. read more
