Salt water pool, lots of shade, pleasant lifeguards and in a great Neighborhood Association. What's not to love!

We had a great experience with Swim Dynamo for several years and HIGHLY recommend Coach Martha and…read moreTom. Unfortunately, the club did not handle an injury well with our daughter as she became a more advanced swimmer. Her "new" coach was more intent on the team winning than earning the trust and respect that a good coach would usually deserve. Which includes creating a welcoming culture, telling athletes to listen to their bodies and ensuring that he/she is PATIENT. We changed clubs as a result of Joey and had no problem doing so as every other coach was very happy to work with a high performance young teenager and help her get "competition ready." Coaching is a seminal component in a teenager's life and we did not feel comfortable with his attitude or interactions with the kids. Mike seems like a great CEO, but not well-informed by the coaching staff -that could be a result of the head coach who we never heard a word from. I would make sure to spend time talking to the coaches before picking Dynamo, depending on the child's age.

Out of the blue (or perhaps not so out of the blue because it was literally the day the Oakhurst Coach gave birth), Dynamo eliminated its high school program at Oakhurst with 3 weeks notice. No goodbye to the old coach, leading to sobbing and angry teens. The also not so best part was that they offered a 4pm practice when high school kids in this area get out at 3:45 6 miles away from the new location. Not sure if this was pregnancy discrimination or just awfulness/rudeness, but Dynamo has changed. I did try to reach out to the head coach and got a nasty note back from the Board Chair. You can't count on them to offer consistency, which I think was a hard lesson for my kids and for me since that's what they claim to sell. The City of Decatur should definitely take the Oakhurst pool back from Dynamo.

Fun neighborhood with long swim lanes pool. Their pool is big and beautiful. They also have small diving boards which is great to experience. Great place to take our kids in the summer. The Embry Hills Club is great place to meet your neighbors and have a good time. If you are not member, you are missing out on one the best reasons to live in Embry Hills. The Embry Hills Club was established in 1958 when the neighborhood was first being developed. They offer swimming, tennis, Sand Volleyball and a variety of social activities throughout the year. Opens May through Labor Day. But if the weather permits they have open plays for Sand Volleyball. Usually they have plays after dark around 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Cost for the open play for Volleyball are just $5. They also do the league matches which cost around $55 which is very reasonable compare to other places. The two courts are fully lighted and bright. Plenty of chaise lounges, poolside tables, two sun decks, and a clubhouse for parties. Youth swim team available for children ages 5 and up. The Embry Hills Club has a long connection with ALTA tennis. They have two lighted, recently resurfaced hard  courts. They offer ALTA women's and mixed doubles teams. Overall a nice sports club. Plenty of free parking available in front of the courts.

You typically see a lot of the same people every weekend, and everyone is very close knit. At the same time, there are some social butterflies who flock to any new faces and immediately welcome them to the club. The pool is definitely for families. If you have kids of any age, they will love it. The shallow end is big enough for kids to play in, and the deep end has 2 diving boards. Whenever the lifeguard goes on break, the kids play on the playground until they can get back in the pool again. Its one of the few things in life that hasnt changed since I was a kid. Aside from the facilities, the club holds multiple events during the year. My kids love movie night. They set up a big inflatable projector screen out on the lawn and have a local food truck come by so everyone can eat and socialize before the movie starts. There is also a chili cookoff on Superbowl Sunday, so people can vote for the winner while they watch the game at the clubhouse. There is a Halloween parade every year and the neighborhood gets a fire truck to lead the kids through the neighborhood to the clubhouse, where there is a party waiting. Cons: The pool and grounds in general are on the older side and need some work. The playground equipment probably needs to be replaced at this point, too. It doesnt get busy during the week, but it can get pretty busy on weekends. Overall, EHC is a great place to meet people and let your kids run wild. The pool is lively and there are always plenty of events for the family. The whole place could use a face-lift, but you probably arent going there to admire the architecture anyway!

She started at the Trigger Fish level, advanced to Sea Lions, and just recently graduated to Manta Rays. The academy's structured approach--requiring specific skills to be mastered at each stage--has clearly paid off. She's athletic and attentive, and the instructors have done a fantastic job channeling those strengths into steady improvement. Each level seems to take her about 5-6 weeks to complete, which speaks volumes about both her effort and the academy's teaching methods. With only two levels left after Manta Rays, she's well on her way to being ready for our HOA's competitive summer swim team, which runs six intense weeks with six tournaments. The difference in her confidence and ability in the water is easy to see. Honestly, I may not be able to swim away from her when she chases me in the pool next summer! Watching her master the different strokes has been exciting, and I'm grateful for the academy's clear progression system and supportive environment. Atlanta Swim Academy has been a wonderful investment in her growth, and I highly recommend it to any family looking to build strong swimming skills in a fun, structured way.
