The education is unmatched, the teachers are passionate, and I am so very proud of my vocabulary. I didn't make any "lasting friendships" and I'm not really one to take advantage of nepotism, so I don't foresee any incredible networking opportunities stemming from my high school education, but I really got to experience some wonderful things at an appropriate age. The most important factor of my education here was the integrated empowerment. This comes innately with most gender-specific education settings, but Xavier really encourages girls to become strong women. The parochial thing sucks, but as long as Arizona's legislature (thanks, Republican Party!) continues to wring out public education and teachers in favor of for-profit political garbage heaps like religious education, XCP is the top of the tower.

XCP says "Xavier College Preparatory does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or…read moreethnic origin in admissions ..." but this is completely a lie when majority of the students are white followed by Hispanic with African American & Native Americans having the lowest representation. They focus on accepting girls from specific backgrounds that fit their image, giving less chance for others who don't to receive the same opportunities. If you are looking for a school with diversity, XCP is not the school to attend. If you are a minority & are part of the small number that gets accepted, there is no one there who looks like or can relate to you culturally.

As a Jesuit institution I was very impressed with their inclusivity as well as the amazing credentials of the teaching staff. They are able enforce rules that the public school system is sorely lacking. My oldest son learned so much from his teachers and developed a passion for engineering through work at the "IC" which is innovation commons. He learned to 3-D print, program and loved the remote control club. This launched him into a career in aeronautical engineering. My younger son took enough AP courses that he is almost a year ahead and will be able to triple major as a result at Syracuse University. The dean, President and staff are so supportive. Their mission programs are also a unique offering that is life changing. My older son went on a mission to Peru that changed his life! It was hard work physically, but I was most impressed by the attitude change. He learned a lot about himself and the world around him. He returned grateful, no longer a picky eater, and with a servants heart. At Brophy they truly strive and help develop Men for Others.

She is an English teacher that has had an uncountable number of complaints lodged against her, from both students and teachers. She grades her essays based on her personal opinions, and grades fluctuate wildly based on her mood of the day. Her lessons are disjointed and extremely hard to follow, and she offers little to no clarification when asked about whatever vague and pointless concept she is rambling about. The material she presents to the class is often pulled from the internet. This wouldn't be terrible, if she would read the things before using them in class. She lacks the ability for confrontation, leading to her room being uncontrollable and loud. Her assignments are ridiculous, with extremely vague rubrics. It is better to brownnose and suck up to her than actually put effort into the class. I remain anonymous because if I were to make her angry, she'd find a reason to fail me. She should be, at the very least, placed under review. Sincerely, A dissatisfied junior

He's been able to advance to the math level that makes sense for him--he's a 7th grader in Algebra--and I really appreciate that they try to get kids into a math that makes sense for where they're at. I also think they have a very decent set of electives. For instance, he's taking Forensic Science--which he loves--and he's signed up for Public Speaking/Debate in the spring. The principal, Dr. Michael, is both inspiring and very hands on. The teachers are experienced, and they seem to enjoy teaching kids this age. My son had a concussion at one point, and literally every single teacher was incredibly understanding and gave him significant time to recover and get caught up. We were very grateful. It's worth noting: to limit opportunities for bullying and misbehavior, the time between classes is tight. Middle schoolers are expected to take care of and speak up for themselves. So if someone needs water, they should bring a water bottle and fill it in the morning and at lunch. This means they have to step away from their friends for a hot second, but they figure it out pretty quickly. All in all, my son is getting a great academic education and he's learning to manage his time and speak up for himself with teachers. I'm very pleased with his experience and growth thus far! Please note: our experience is with CGP, math and electives.

The NJHS program is wonderful thanks to Dr. Slamowitz, who goes above and beyond for the kids. She also teaches Forensics, which has been one of the highlights of my son's day. While the class is definitely challenging, he's developed a real passion for forensic science because of her engaging and inspiring teaching style. He even spends hours outside of school studying it on his own! The gifted program has been such a blessing--Ms. Wilson is so kind and supportive, and Ms. Holland makes learning both fun and meaningful. The front desk staff are always welcoming, quick to help, and truly make you feel part of the community. The new Resource Officer is fantastic--always on top of things and always with a smile. My son especially loves accelerated math with Ms. Clasby. He says she's one of the best math teachers he's ever had and really enjoys her teaching style. Of course, no school is perfect, but IMS is full of caring teachers and staff who work hard to make it a great place for students to learn and grow.

She was only in 1st. She had been in a preschool that had a curriculum for three years before kindergarten, so she should have been either doing as well or better than most kids...not struggling like she was. I was told by a friend about Hearn Academy, so I went and checked it out and was very impressed. While she was attending the summer program, that they used to have, they noticed that she wasn't up to grade level and struggling. So they contacted us and asked if they could test her. This was without telling them we felt she was struggling. It was determined that she had a learning problem and needed help with training her brain to think differently and the teachers allowed more time for her to get her stuff done in he way that worked for her. After only 4 years with an IEP (in the special education program) she graduated out and was put in honors classes. I can't even and don't want to imagine what could have happened had she gone another 2 years without anyone working with her and us so that we too knew how to help her. Then my other child was advanced and we didn't even know it. Once again in the summer program before she even started Kindergarten we received a call that they wanted to test her as well as they felt she was getting board and may need to be in Honors classes as well. Who knew there was honors for Kindergarten. It turned out they were correct she is now in seventh grade and has been in the honors classes since day one and doing fantastic. The teachers seem to take the time to understand the kids and not treat them all the same. Are there issues at the school of course, is every teacher there perfect of course not, are there things there that can be improved of course, but over all their motto holds true: Children Are Our Priority!
