Easy, to the point and quick cut. No frills. Great value when some places charge exorbitant amounts for simple cuts.

Great spot in the heart of Maplewood village. Friendly, professional staff... I tend to wait for Shannon but everybody there is quite good!

Great first experience this week. Owner cut my hair with a great balance of efficiency, chatter and quality. I will return.

Don't go here. They did a seriously bad job on a simple cut. I'm warning you. AVOID!

Earlier this fall I visited the Presidents Club Barbershop in Milburn New Jersey to interview their…read morestaff and profile their shop. I was really impressed with the staff and salon so I booked a return visit to see if their skills and service lived up to the hype and in short it not only lived up to but far exceeded my expectations. My visit started as I was greeted by Katie one of the owners who led me to the lounge area where I settled in at the bar and had a beer and some light snacks. It was a nice way to start my visit while I waited for my first treatment a haircut with talented barber Michelle. Michelle led me to the shampoo area which had comfortable reclining chairs and padded neck rests, a nice touch. I received a great shampoo with a relaxing scalp massage. Michelle than gave me a consultation on my cut and went to work. I gave her control over the sides, length and type of part and she did not disappoint. She came up with a style that is easy to maintain, looks great and fits my lifestyle. She completed the look by straight razoring my neck and sides as well as cleaning up my eyebrows before finishing off with a meticulous styling . When she finished I was really happy with the result . I next headed to the manicure table to meet with barber/manicurist Christine. Many guys shy away from manicures but to me they are just part of good grooming and proper hygiene . She first offered me a beer which I gladly accepted. She than pulled out the instruments she was going to use which were encased in plastic to ensure sterilization similar to the way you find them in a dentists office. She asked me about my preferences for nail shape and length and I told her I like my nails short and rounded. She was meticulous in her work skillfully cutting and filing my nails to the proper shape. She than deftly pushed back and trimmed my cuticles with surgical precision. She finished the treatment with some hot towels around my hands which felt so good on my arthritic fingers . She let me sit for a minute than removed the towels and used a scrub which left my hands really smooth and softened up my skin. She finished it off with a moisturizing hand massage to protect against winter dryness. I have had a lot of manicures since starting the blog but this one was the most therapeutic and relaxing. Christine is a great conversationalist as well as an amazing manicurist with a gentle touch and great attention to detail. It felt like I had new hands when she finished and my nails looked clean but still masculine . Katie than called me over to her chair to shave off my full beard. After a consultation on my skin type, my sensitivity and any areas of concern she took out a buzzer and went to work . She was cool enough to give me some awesome mutton chops and let me take a picture before beginning the process. She reclined me back and started a facial steamer along with some pre-shave oils to soften my beard. She applied shaving cream and wrapped my face in a hot towel . She than re-applied shaving cream and shaved me with a straight razor with the grain of my beard growth. She than repeated the process shaving against the grain and than re-checked her work shaving off any stray stubble. She finished with a cold towel , some invigorating aftershave and a protective moisturizer. My skin felt amazing after and I was still smooth twenty-four hours later. Despite taking off a full and very coarse beard, her practiced touch left my face with no nicks , no cuts , and no irritation. My overall opinion of The Presidents Club is that there are not enough stars I can give the experience. All three treatments were perfect I couldn't ask for anymore. The barbers were all professional yet made you feel like part of the family. I was very impressed with how they treated their customers like family members and old friends. They were amazing with all the clients and were particularly good with the kids. I would recommend gift card for one or better yet all of these services as a present for your boss, brother, dad, boyfriend, husband or any other guy in your life. They also do waxing, color, facials and pedicures so feel free to mix and match treatments according to his preferences . Presidents Club is a spa like experience that lets you look great, feel great and keep your man card. I will definitely be back again. My first visit was a walk-in with no appointment and they got me in to see Kenny within the hour. Kenny did a great job on my beard trim. They also have a monthly membership that comes with one haircut and discounts on other services. I immediately signed up. I have since changed barbers to Christine and no fault to Kenny. He had gone on vacation and he recommended her and so I stayed with her. She also waxes my nose hairs. Yes, nose hairs. And no it doesn't hurt. I recommend this place and any of the barbers.
