The inside was just "ok" but I wanted to give a good review especially because of the staff, they were really nice and friendly. The showers are CRAZY small. Like, if you need to shave you got to do that before (or after) getting in the shower. Some rooms are really small and some a bit larger. I moved to the smallest on the first night there on my own (could barely get around even with just me in the room) and luckily something larger on on the second night when I had a roomie. There were more floors at this hotel versus some of the others that I stayed at, this one had about five, I think. They have an old school, smaller elevator - but I just booked it up and down the stairs most days, 'cause I can. And exercise is good. Also, the breakfast here was better than some others during my tour of Italy, it just had more of a variety. The view from the top balcony where breakfast was served was also a nice little touch. As far as the inside of the rooms, I'd probably go 3 solid stars, but as mentioned, the staff pushed it to 4. Get the WiFi password!

During the day it's simply too crowded! (And that's me, coming from NYC, where there is a never-ending flow of tourists in certain parts of town!) On a Saturday early evening, I could barely see the staircase because of the throngs of tourists astride these steps. That being said, since I was in the area, I didn't hesitate to stop by for a quick check off the list on this trip. The fountain at the foot of the steps spouts potable water from both ends and a steady flow of visitors stepped up to snap a pic and refill bottles. At the top of the steps is Trinità dei Monti, a Catholic Church with its iconic double bell towers constructed in the 16th century, which is one of several functioning French-speaking parishes in the city. Inside Renaissance frescos from distinguished artists of the era paint the chapels with color. Admission is free which is a nice touch.
