We stayed here for a night en route to watch our son in a cycling event in Alpe d'Huez. The welcome was warm and genuine, with our bags being dealt whilst we enjoyed a complimentary snack on the terrace, looking over Lyon. The swimming pool and evening drinks on the terrace were a delight and the dinner, with paired wines, was wonderful. our room ('Classique') was very pleasant with a bathroom and separate WC. Breakfast in the morning, on the terrace again was faultless. For a treat we booked back in with our son for the return journey. On the return we were delayed leaving Alpe d'Huez. I emailed the hotel to say l that we hoped to be there before they stopped serving dinner. As it got later the hotel called us to check on our likely arrival time and learning that we would now be too late for dinner, they arranged to have plates of charcuterie, salads, fruit and bread waiting for us. When we finally arrived the reception was once more magnificent, with the bags and cars all dealt with whilst we freshened up and made for the terrace for our supper. The following day we enjoyed a generous breakfast and a leisurely laze by the pool before setting off to see some sights suggested by the receptionist. The magnificent service continued after we had paid up and gone. Arriving at the airport I received a phone call from the concierge saying that the staff had found that we had left a Kindle in our room. I asked if they could send it on and a few days later it arrived safe and sound with us in Scotland. A faultless service from start to finish (and beyond), in a magnificent hotel staffed by lovely people. read more

Un week-end idyllique Nous voulions un anniversaire de mariage exceptionnel: nous l'avons eu. Nous avons choisi l'escapade Florentine : nous sommes arrivés à 13h pour le déjeuner en terrasse: vue magnifique sur la plus belle ville de France, des mets délicats et raffinés, une explosion de sensations pour nos papilles du début à la fin, rien n'est laissé au hasard. Sans parler de la présentation.. Le personnel est aux petits soins tout en étant discret. Nous avons pu ensuite profiter de la piscine - jacuzzi - sauna (le soleil se cache vite derrière la façade de la bâtisse vers 18h). Nous avons ensuite passé la soirée dans un restaurant non loin de la villa Florentine nous permettant de profiter du coucher de soleil sur Lyon. Puis nous avons passez une nuit reposante : chambre vaste, propre, literie très confortable. Petit déjeuner sur la terrasse de la piscine : un large choix de sucré - salé - viennoiseries - crêpes - jus de fruits frais.....Et enfin dernier moment au bord de la piscine! Tout était parfait. Nous n'avons juste pas eu droit à nos cocktails d'arrivée car nous sommes arrivés directement au restaurant et nous n'avons pris la chambre que dans un deuxième temps: pas bien grave. Our stay was a one night stop off en route from Italy to the Dordogne. Our Junior Suite was perfectly appointed, spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed a brief dip in the terrace swimming pool which affords great views across Lyon. Our dinner in the hotel's restaurant was costly but worth it. Perfectly cooked and presented food and a wine list to rival most! Once we had been shown to our room, everything went perfectly. Once we had reached the room! There lies the problem, to get there, after our four year old had endured a five hour plus car journey from Lake Como and I had requested of the receptionist we be shown to our suite TWICE, her very abrupt, some might say 'rude' manner was simply unwelcoming. A twenty minute wait, long after the designated check in time was not what we needed after our long journey. The restaurant and housekeeping staff could not have been friendlier, unfortunately the first person guests encounter on arrival tends to be the receptionist, an otherwise superb hotel badly let down at front of house. read more

excellent séjour a la villa florentine nous avons séjourné avec ma compagne dans une junior suite avec mezzanine et vue sur lyon on voit jusqu au mont blanc quand le ciel est dégager c est vraiment un paradis magnifique ou on a l impression d etre hors du temps je connaissait tres bien la ville avec ces bouchon et stress de tout les jours mais la c etait un coté jamais vu sous cette angle un personnel genial tous autant qu il sont a notre ecoute et tres avenant au petit soin pour leurs clients nous avons ete magnifiquement bien recu la cuisine exellente la piscine et jacuzzi avec vu lyon juste merveilleux expérience a vivre au moins une fois et a recommencer quand on le peux nous avons passé un exellent sejour les soin et massage y sont prodigieux aussi vraiment un reve eveillé malheureusement trop court mais c est vraiment sublime le lieu kl histoire de l hotel et tout le package .... merveilleux read more

The hotel was beautiful, set at the top of the hill with a lovely view of the city of Lyon. It was very central to make exploring very easy. The hotel staff went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful experience. We were with my two year old grandson who is lively and yet they never made us feel uncomfortable or had a need to make him quiet. The breakfast was amazing with loads of choice and an option of ordering any items that were not at the buffet. The pool is great as being a smaller hotel it doesn't get very busy yet there was plenty of seating. The rooms are very spacious and have plenty of plug sockets and charging points. I cannot speak highly enough of Villa Florentine and would recommend it to anyone visiting Lyon read more

Staying at the Villa Florentine was an excellent way to conclude our 9 day trip to France. Views of Lyon from the hotel are amazing - we took advantage of this with drinks by the poolside, dinner on the terrace attached to our room, and also dinner at the restaurant, Les Terrasses de Lyon. We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant, and the room service was also excellent (and delivered precisely on time). We stayed in Room 2 - beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The staff were unfailingly friendly, polite and helpful. I would recommend this hotel- Just keep in mind that' it's a bit of a climb from the river / street level. I counted about 215 steps to get there! read more

We had 2 nights at the Villa Florentine 7 & 8 August 2025, room 12. A truley stunning hotel in the heart of most beautiful part of Lyon, with stunning views of the world heritage Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste . The staff and facilities were absolutely first class with a beautiful swimming pool. The room was very nice and clean and quiet with and extremely comfortable bed. The only negatives were that the toilet was seperate to the bathroom with no wash hand basin so you couldn't was your hands afterwards, also the shower didn't drian properly. My husband and I stay at Villa Florentine recently and had great time. Our room was very clean, spacious, and quiet with very comfortable bed. It has a large patio with great view of the city and basilica of Notre Dame. The staff was great. They were very professional and provided excellent services. Month ahead, I emailed the hotel that I wanted to make the spa appointments, the receptions and concierge were very helpful helping me get spa appointments confirmed. And the treatments were really nice. Highly recommend Villa Florentine if you are going to Lyon. read more

Nous pensions nous faire un petit plaisir en mangeant dans un restaurant gastronomique, et nous y avons trouvés : un accueil digne de ce nom, chose que l'on ne trouve pas de partout ! This is a very lovely hotel with a breathtaking view of old Lyon and the city. The breakfast buffet was delicious and staff were always helpful and gracious. The pool and terrace are beautiful and relaxing. I booked online and got a great price and a nice room with large sitting area and marble bath. I had room service one night which was outstanding. I would recommend the hotel highly. It's just hard to find an outlet to charge your phone (as is the case with most buildings from the 1600s, of course ). read more

We have stayed at a number of 5 star hotels in France over the years, but the accommodations, service, and hospitality that we experienced at Villa Florentine is unmatched. Excellent hôtel du service au petit-déjeuner tout était parfait nous avons pu passer une agréable nuit et avons pu profiter des espaces aquatiques qui sont top merci encore à toute l'équipe pour ces moments .Juste petit bémol arrivée à 21h30 pour pouvoir diner au sein du restaurant alors que j'avais réservé à 21h15 et nous n'avons pas pu du coup dîner mais nous ne pouvons vous en tenir rigueur vu l'apaisement de ce lieu . read more

Amazing from start to finish. The people were fantastic with pre-arrival assistance including transfers from the airport. The early checkin. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is part of Lyons history and Kevin gave us a guided tour before reaching our room. The room was wow. so beautiful and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need. if you are going to Lyon then this is a must stay destination. read more

Great hotel in the old town of Lyon looking down on the city. The staff were amazing from when we booked through to when we left. They welcomed us with a glass of champagne and couldn't do enough to look after us. It's pretty hard to fault this hotel. Some people have commented negatively about the stairs but there are new lifts everywhere. Lyon is a gorgeous city and this hotel is a destination hotel. read more
