Gorgeous rooms and views! Very nice staff; super helpful and friendly. I would give it 5 stars, but the hiking up and down to the reception area is rough. read more

I had such a nice stay in Il Delfino that I came back twice during the same vacation…read more Il Delfino not only has excellent food, especially fish and pasta, but also offers acommodation. Some rooms are on top of the restaurant, some are in a very nice and quiet backyard building. Both types of rooms are very spacious, absolutely well-kept, modern and friendly. The bed-sheats are comfortable and good quality, the matresses new. Honestly, of about 12 B&Bs that I saw between Cefalu and Stromboli this was the one I liked most and felt most at home. I got along very well with the owners and staff, they are helpful, friendly and they have the cutest dog, Twist.

"Excellent hotel and staff"…read more We spent last week at this hotel in Lipari. The hotel is nicely situated. It is a few minutes away (walking) from the points of departure of various ports and also very close to restaurants and shops. They served a very nice breakfast in the morning which included a variety of meats, some egg (usually scrambled), cheeses, breads, pastries and croissants. They would bring you fresh cappuccinos in the morning on request as well. The hotel staff was both courteous and friendly, and although some of them didn't speak English well, it was never an issue. We had requested a quad room for my wife and two kids and the space was somewhat limited, as is typical of most hotels in Italy. However, once you got used to it, everything we needed was there. The only negative was the lack of an iron in the entire hotel. Since I was giving research seminars it would have been nice to have crisply ironed shirts but it worked out okay. The hotel also has a nice swimming pool which my kids enjoyed quite a bit. This is a nice boutique type hotel with good value, excellent service, and of course the aeolian islands are a wonderful place to visit.

The location makes up a big part…read moreof my rating; although that shouldn't detract from the mostly clean rooms, comfortable bed, decent service and friendly attitude of reception staff (many of them with good English skills as well) I've given this hotel 5 stars because you won't find better on this island- comparatively it obviously won't match a 5 star hotel in London or Melbourne but for what we were expecting, we were very happy. Since I'm banging this out on a phone I'll do a list: Highlights- - room on top floor has private terrace with chairs and sunbeds - hotel has sun deck with sunbeds right over the water - dinner service was high quality, formal setting (break out the collared shirt!). Absolutely perfect setting for dinner, overlooking the bay/beach and out across the ocean. - we had a shuttle service to and from the hotel on our arrival and departure, to save us lugging bags across from the hydrofoil. Lowlights- - service at bar is a little hit and miss (advertised as 24/7 but staff duck away fairly often to perform other duties which I guess is fairly common for hotels) - air con is a portable unit so won't cool entire room -pay a small fee for beach towel hire

This isn't just a 'favourite place'. Atelier Sul Mare is now my favourite place in the whole world…read more I can't stress enough how stunning and perfect this hotel is. If I could, I would pack up my bags right now and live here. I actually found out about it after a conversation on Qype too :-) I've never been one to stay in a hotel while I'm on a holiday. Give me a hostel, a cheap b&b and i'm happy - after all I'm not planning on spending much time there so I only really need a bed and a cup of coffee! Atelier Sul Mare is different. Oh so different. Roughly translated at the 'art hotel by the sea' you're treated to a stunning array of rooms. 25 years ago, 15 artists were asked to create hotel rooms with a difference. This is the result. It's so difficult to explain the experience. You honestly don't know what to expect when you get there. One room had a shower like a carwash. There was a room with a bed like a birds nest, one was like a fairy tale tower! When we saw that one on the website images, it looked scary, but when we saw it in real life, it was stunning - shame it wasn't free when we wanted to stay there. All of the art rooms have sea views - and these are stunning. You get a tour of the rooms each day - by moving each evening you get to experience different rooms - a clever way of the hotel keeping the rooms free, and a really great twist. it is worth moving your stuff over. All of the rooms have air con, but you won't find a TV or mini bar. That's really not the point of the hotel - if theses are on your list of must haves and you aren't willing to overlook them, them you're kinda missing the point of the hotel. The rest of the hotel is beautiful. Really stunning. there's an art gallery for goodness sake! How many hotels have one of those?! There's a great restaurant (which I've written about serperately). It's not cheap, but the food is great. There's a bar next door too. Nice enough, but they'll serve you your drink by the beach so there's not much point staying the bar! You also get use of a perfect little private beach with the bluest sea in the whole world. (My boyfriend taught me to swim in that sea, so I promise it's warm!) Don't expect any tourists around you. You're right next to a teeny town - this hotel is perfect for escapism. All this for EUR85 per person a night in September for an art room. I think standard rooms are about EUR65 and while they're stunning, I think if you're going to splash out, stay in an art room. I might just book a flight back there right now. It's the most perfect place in the world. I have such a special place in my heart for this hotel. I don't think I could ever stay in a Radisson again. Perfect. Awesome.

In reality this place is even more wonderful that what people say about it. Being the only Art Museum Hotel in the world it provides you an experience that no other place ever can. I was given a guided tour of the hotel's art rooms and it was a great experience. The hotel is very near to the beach and the guests get free access o the fully equipped beach. The Art Hotel in Sicily is a place that I would highly recommend to everyone.

This is a truly special hotel in one of the most special towns in all of Europe. Taormina is of…read morecourse sensational and Hotel Villa Belvedere offers the very best of what you can find in the area. It's a little out of town, but the walk through the public gardens or via the teatro greco make for a lovely stroll into the main area (do know, however, that if you are looking for something near the main tourist strip, you will likely walk 10-15 minutes to get there). Overlooking the waterfront by the pool with an Etna spritz is really an unforgettable experience, as is the incredible breakfast, the excellent staff and the comfortable albeit somewhat cramped rooms. One caveat to all: we had requested interconnecting rooms or something adjoining when we booked months in advance. The manager assured us he would do his best. They also offered a family villa for the price we had paid for the 2 rooms, which we should have accepted (we didn't, and we ultimately wish we had, despite the fact that the view was not as special - you can really enjoy the view any time in the breakfast and lounge areas, or by the pool). When we arrived, the best they could offer were rooms nearly 8 doors apart. We worked out a favorable compromise and they were really very willing to work with us, to their credit. But, if you are hoping for truly interconnecting rooms, you will not find them here. The garden suite has sufficient space in the living room for two twin beds (but the garden area is full of mosquitos and frogs, so both unusable during the day and evening and noisy at night), or perhaps the villa rigamonti would be a worthy alternative. We managed to make do with a small suite that had an extra twin bed, which they augmented with a second bed for our young kids. It was perfectly adequate for us. Ask for room 65 if you are in a similar situation and wish to pay for just 1 room but have your kids nearby). All that said, the service is very special, the location is stunning, the beds very comfortable. The breakfast is unmatched and Taormina itself is simply not to be missed.
View from the gorgeous garden and pool.
