A warm and cosy place to call home during your stay in Florence. This apartment sleeps up to four…read morepeople. It is a one bedroom apartment with a queen sized bed and a pull-out couch that is very comfortable for kids or another couple. All of the furniture is new and tasteful (mostly from IKEA). There is a spacious kitchen, complete with all the essential gear for cooking or baking. There is also a toaster, Italian Moka Pot (Espresso), Teapot, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, oven and of course many (new) plates , bowls, utensils, wine glasses etc. The bathroom is clean and bright which includes sink, toilet and shower. One of the nicest features of the apartment is the small intimate terrace that seats two people and is fantastic for a romantic morning coffee or having a glass of wine at sunset . The apartment gets its' name "tra i tetti" or "among the rooftops" from the beautiful view of the Italian terra-cotta rooftops. The apartment is on the top floor so the view is quite nice. That being said, those with knee problems or who are not able to do stairs, this apartment may be problematic because the apartment is on the top floor of a building with no elevator. If you are here for the first time, the location of the apartment couldn't be more perfect. It's only 5 minutes from the central train station and easy to walk to. Plus you are right in the center of Florence! Being on the top floor there is very little noise once the windows are closed. There are no trash bins on this street so you won't be bothered by the noisy garbage collectors that come early in the morning. The apartment has all your basic needs ready upon check-in. All linen and towels are provided, as well as your basic condiments for cooking like oil, salt, sugar, coffee, tea and soap for dishes and laundry. Check in/out times are often flexible as well. Great place to call home for first time visitors or seasoned travelers of this beautiful city.

Appartamento Nella is an apartment rental similar to something you would find on airbnb. The instructions from the booking.com reviews are helpful and are to be taken seriously if you ever want to find this place and have things go smoothly. Be a good tenant! If you have never been to Cinque Terre, it can be a bit confusing. When you get to Manarola, call the owner Frederica and she or her husband will meet you right outside the tunnel from the train station. Pick a restaurant to stand in front of as a meeting point. Frederica and her husband speak minimal English but enough to welcome you and get you situated. If you want to find the apartment yourself, make a right on Via Antonio Diavolo, an immediate sharp right on Via Belvedere and then walk up the hill a good 10 minutes (7 minutes if you walk fast and 3 minutes to catch your breath and pause to take in the gorgeous views). Regardless, you will have to call the owner to notify her you have arrived. The apartment is spacious with a queen sized bed and flat screen tv. There is a fully equipped kitchen with pots and pans and utensils. There is a grocery store on the main street if you prefer to cook your own meals. The bathroom is decent and well kept. Not much soap or shampoo available so bring your own toiletries. Towels are provided. The apartment has more than enough room for two people to feel comfortable. It was like a home away from home. Note that there are no screens in the windows or air conditioning. Open for fresh air but close when you leave and when the mosquitos get unbearable. Had a fabulous time at Appartamento Nella and after seeing the other towns, Manarola is definitely my favorite and first choice. Plus, the location can't be beat. The apartment is steps away from Porta Rossa and Trattoria dal Billy!

It was so much better than we could have imagined. We stayed in the eastern half of the house with 3 large en-suite bedrooms, a large, fully equipped modern kitchen, free wireless internet, warm family room and huge beautiful, private yard, cabanas, swimming pool, and gardens. The views are unbelievable from the grounds and bedrooms towards the mountains to the south and Lucca and the the Apennines Mountains to the north. Working with the owners and reserving the property was very easy (international wire transfer with excellent instructions). The property is located in the quaint, quiet, and beautiful village of Vorno in the heart of Tucscany which contained several great small restaurants within easy walking distances - Bimbotto's, Osteria Cucina dello Scompiglio, La Bettola, and il Rio. The people are all very friendly and helpful and patient with our poor Italian vocabulary although most spoke some English. The village had great walking and hiking trails with fantastic views towards Lucca and the mountains north. The house is located 4 miles from the Lucca train station from which we traveled to Rome and the Cinque Terra. We rented an auto and easily navigated all over the area to the Mediterranean beaches close by - Marina di Vecchiano (10 miles) and Forte dei Marmi. We drove to Lucca, Pisa, several wineries, Volterra, and Montecarlo. The wine and food was fantastic. The Caretaker, Roman, speaks English well. He was invaluable in helping plan our trips, giving advice, making suggestions, and taking care of the property. He also met us at Pisa Airport where we rented a car and he escorted us to Casa Joanna only about 30 minute drive away. I would highly recommend vacationing at Casa Joanna and all of my traveling companions agreed that it was one of our most relaxing, memorable, and fun vacations we had ever taken.

Historic Casa Joanna (al Mariti) is situated in the charming traditional village of Vorno, a delightful gathering of rustic stone farmhouses and majestic villas set in the lush country side at the foot of Monte Zano in Northern Tuscany. Vorno is famous for royal families of the past who designed and built their summer villas in this tranquil, temperate village just south of Lucca. Chosen for its beauty, the views of the rolling Tuscan hills and the ever so slightly cooler temperaturs in the summer, Vorno became the home of some of the most amazing villas in Tuscany. Located within the walls of Villa Valentina, Casa Joanna has it's own hedge garden, separate entrance and parking. The house was designed and constructed in a grand style well over a century ago. The 4 metre high ceilings on the piano terra give an open spacious feel to the rooms with a large chandeliers hanging from the brick-laied vaults. Outdoor terraces provide al fresco dining for up to 8 guests each, partly shaded by an old cherry tree. The delightful garden of terracotta pots, fruit trees, local flowers and scented climbers of jasmine and honey suckle create a truly Tuscan feel.
