TUI Sensatori Resort - Basilico restaurant

I am just now coming to the end of an amazing stay at the fabulous Sensatori hotel in Fethiye. I…read morehave been anticipating this trip for a little while and now that it's finally passed, I already want to come back and I've not even flown back to Newcastle yet! The hotel has a lot of facilities like 4 main pools, (the family pool, the activity pool, the kiddie pool and the adult pool), a half-sand and half-shingle beach, lots of different bars, 5 a'la carte restaurants, a main buffet restaurant and even a patisserie! The room that we stayed in (3321) was a great size, was bright and airy, had comfy beds, a balcony overlooking the sea and mountains, a minibar fridge with beer, water, fruit juice, milk and a selection of soft drinks. The bathroom as well was amazing with that lovely foamy bubbly water, an epic power shower and hot bathrobes to put on when exiting the shower. My only complaint about the bathroom is the huge step from the bathroom floor into the shower cubicle. There is a 3 foot step which is a bit dangerous considering there is no non-slip mat. We went to the pool almost every day, except one where we had a lovely day out on the beach, luxuriating in a cosy cabana, and being offered fresh water, sandwiches, treats and cookies all while in the gorgeous Turkish sunshine. As for the pool itself, there are four but the one we visited the most was the family pool, which was the biggest one out of all of them. There was a bar next to the pool which served up amazing mocktails. I highly recommend the Cinderella! The water slides which are located about 100 yards away from the main family pool are great and the only bad thing is having to trek up all those steps every time you want to have a shot! If I worked at Thomson, I would suggest installing a chair lift to the slide platform! We booked a table at 2 of the 5 a'la carte restaurants, one of which I wasn't too keen on (the Amber Turkish) but the other, I completely loved! (the Basilico Italian) At the Amber, our service was pretty slow and the food wasn't exactly to my taste. Meanwhile, over at the Basilico, our waiter was great, the food was amazing and the atmosphere reminded me of a traditional Italian cafe with a giant clay oven for the pizzas, a tank with a live lobster on display and a lovely outdoor area. The main buffet restaurant was a matter of luck. On some days, they would have a great choice of food to pick, but on other days the place felt a bit empty. The highlight of the buffet was the awesome waiter, Zafer. He was extremely chatty, funny and brought our drink orders out quickly. And when we were done with a plate, he was always on hand to come and pick it up. The Melissa Patisserie was the most likely suspect of holiday weight gain, because they served the most amazing cream cakes, meringue slices, smoothies, cookies and Turkish delight. They even had an ice cream counter, which I seemed to drift towards when I walked through the patisserie doors. My only real complaint for the hotel, is that there are just not enough toilets in the public areas. By the family pool, there was one female toilet and one male toilet, with the next nearest ones being at the Piano Bar/Asian Restaurant/Patisserie, which all shared the same toilets and are miles away from the main sunlounger area. But apart from that, I loved my experience at the Sensatori Fethiye and I look forward to staying here again in the future!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! This has been one of the…read moreworst hotel experiences of my life! I stayed for a bit and initially liked it, so I extended my stay. that was where I went horribly wrong. The hotel manager - i think his name is Yavus - booked me for the extension and was EXTREMELY rude. I really should have cursed him out and walked out then. A few days later, he insisted I change rooms immediately because my room needed to be painted. I was starving and on my way to lunch, but again, I said nothing. The toilet in the new room was disgusting. I asked that the staff clean the toilet. When I got back in, a few hours later, they hadn't cleaned the toilet, but had doused the entire bathroom with water - even the toilet seat. Again, the toilet was filthy. After that, my door refused to lock. Yavuz saw me having problems with the door. He concluded that it needed batteries and said he would take care of it later. I told him I wasn't comfortable leaving my things behind an unlocked door. He told me there were cameras in every hallway and that he would definitely take care of it. I show up to my room 7 hours later and the door is not yet fixed. I call down and explain this to them in what little Turkish I know. I tell them the "room won't close"...they say they will send someone up immediately. Half an hour later, I call back and explain to them that the problem is the door. They finally send someone up. I show the guy that the door opens without a keycard. He simply looks at me and says to use the deadbolt instead. I try to explain that as a paying customer and single woman, I need a locking door. Yavuz runs in with a screwdriver and starts taking the batteries out of the door lock. At that point, I just started cursing him out, but he didn't understand a word of it. He just smiled and nodded and tried to pretend that he came back "later" as he had promised. "Later" is not supposed to be 7 hours later. A day later, the upstairs toilet started leaking onto my toilet. I realized that if I called them, they would do nothing about it, so I told them I needed a new room. After a day, I was allowed to move back into my old room. It had just been painted and was covered in paint fumes - and I have asthma. I tried to explain this to the concierge but, once again, she looked at me like a deer in headlights . She was, however, absolutely insistent that the maid come clean the two specks of dirt on the balcony. DO NOT STAY HERE! JUST DON'T DO IT!

Large, clean rooms with small balconies. Great location, close to the ocean and fish market…read more Staff was extremely helpful in finding good places to eat & drink nearby and also spent a lot of time looking into bus/taxi/shuttle options for us on our last day (when moving on to Olympos).
