I don't even know where to begin. This place is INCREDIBLE. . The room is basic but It has all that you need. The view is priceless.. It is a 5-7 minute walk to all of the Riomaggiore restaurants, and 15 minutes from the station. read more

Alla Porta Rossa

A small bathroom, desk, and patio were also included. The mini fridge had some drinks for us, free of charge which was nice. We also received a bottle of water and cookie on each nightstand. The patio doors and window had no screen so when we opened the room filled with mosquitoes. But it was very pretty to look out over the water with the doors closed. The location was nice but I believe everything in town is about the same distance from the center of town. And the train is near by everything. Long story short the place is nice with a comfy bed and we felt safe. But many options in town also looked very nice and were less than half the price so I would shop around a little before committing.
Alla Porta Rossa refers to 8 apartments in Manarola and one in Riomaggiore that you can rent out…read more This review is for the Alla Marina apartment. The apartment has a living room, kitchen, 1 double "room" (really just a partitioned area from the second bed "room"), a double sofa bed, a very, very tiny single room, single bathroom with shower, huge terrace with a view of the main strip (don't believe them when they say "seaview" - that means you can see a sliver of the ocean). Apartment has a full kitchen, AC and satellite TV. The apartment sleeps 5 (two each in the two double beds, 1 in the small coffin...errr... I mean bedroom) but you can pay extra for extra people. You can comfortably sleep one person on the couch and then more people (maybe 3) on the floor of the large living room. Make all of your arrangements online through the website. You will then be given instructions on where to find the main rental office for Alla Porta Rossa where you meet Barbara. After you've paid (cash gets you a discount) you will then be led to the apartments. I love, love, love this apartment and will try to stay here as much as possible when I'm here. Hopefully they come out ok after the recent mudslides. There's nothing like the feeling of coming "home" at night, going to the balcony, opening a bottle of wine and a variety of cheeses and just looking at all the stars in the sky. Buy food from any of the restaurants downstairs and then ask them if you can take it up to the house if you desire. You can also do your laundry in the small (I mean tiny) washing machine and then air dry it right outside on the balcony. Remember that this is an apartment so no one will be coming by to fix your sheets. If you want to feel like a local this is THE place to stay! If you're coming here by train give yourself extra time to get here. The trains are completely unreliable and you WILL be late most of the time if you don't account for this. You do NOT want to piss Barbara off. Trust me on that one. =D Sorry Barbara! I will definitely be coming back to Manarola and will rent from Alla Porta Rossa again.

But like much of Cinque Terre, it is a vertical place. From the train or ferry, we had to walk up the main road, then up some steps to our hotel, then up more steps to our room. It takes some strength and stamina, but it's worth it.

Very spacious living room with day-bed sofa and a bedroom with a queen bed. The bathroom made me jealous - haha- was very luxurious. Our bfast was included and there's so many options in the am. Fresh eggs made to order as well. The coffee can't be beat. And the focaccia! We ate it all day long, every chance we got. When we left, they gave some to my daughter for our train ride to Firenze. It was super addicting. Give in to the focaccia temptation often while in Cinque Terre. You won't taste it's like again. The staff was super helpful and kind. Can't recommend them enough! They made our stay in Cinque Terre the best!

This situation save you a lot of effort lugging the luggage or you can choose to walk the paved road for auto on the left side when you get out of the train station around the corner of a convenience store. The room is in pretty good condition. There are an electric kettle, some tea bags, a small fridge, A/C, wall mounted TV. In the bathroom, toilet paper, small pieces of soap, packages of shampoo are provided. Towels are changed every other days. Bed is made everyday. Free wi-fi but can be trying on one's patience. The owner(s) live upstairs and is accessible for help.

Elena & Tommy are amazing!!…read more ULIVETO NEL PARCO MONTEROSSO is magical. A perfect little oasis just enough on the outskirts of town to be secluded but close enough to be completely convenient to all the restaurants and shops in monterosso. A gorgeous 10 minute trek through the family land of fig, olive, pomegranate, red peppercorn trees, vineyards, tomatoes cabbage...amazing. Spacious spotless rooms. And if you are lucky enough to enjoy one of Elena and Tommy's dinners you will find it to be the freshest tastiest food in town. Breakfast is included and is a gorgeous bounty of fresh fruits and pastries. Simple fabulous! Perfecto!!! Grazie Mille!

Pros: Parking is available! This is a rarity! The view as previously mentioned is SPECTACULAR . The hotel is above the Cinque Terre on the mountain with 180 degree ocean view. Free breakfast (albeit nothing fancy) Cons: The actual hotel is very basic with no frills whatsoever. Rooms are not well decorated, no safes, no hotel restaurant or kitchen. It felt like a dorm or apartment building. Not actually in the Cinque Terre! Overall: I don't think I would stay here again. I would prefer to stay in Manarola or one of the other towns in the Cinque Terre. It is pretty irritating to have to take a shuttle up and down or pay €15 for a ride into town.

The service is pleasant and attentive, the included breakfast is good, and it is in a nice little town. The town has 2 hotels, 2 restaurants, a church, and a cemetery....pretty much everything you need. Also, for a couple Euros, a bus takes you down to Manarola. Stay here away from the bustle, you'll be glad you did.
