This hotel, Villa, whatever you want to call it is pretty decent. The rooms are clean, though a little inconsistent when it comes to that. They cleaned my room 2 of the 3 days I was there. They don't offer you a separate shower gel and shampoo, apparently it's a two in one thing. And of course, no hotel offers toothpaste anymore unless it's like high end.
Villa Lanna offers free breakfast from 7:30-9:30 which was pretty good. The hot selection changes a little day to day, but you have your staples (bread, fruit, granola, yogurt). You really can't complain much about the breakfast.
I was here for a science meeting and they catered our lunch too, so I got a chance to have a sampling of other foods and honestly, the quality is pretty good. They serve up an array of not just Czech food, but we even had some curry and rice on one day. One thing that I feel was a little annoying but not a deal breaker was their small plates. They only have small (but very nice) plates for you to use when you grab your food. While you can go back for seconds, it was a little annoying that's for sure.
The Villa has different styled rooms, singles and doubles, and they have a patio and gazebo that I feel is used often for weddings and the like. It does have a pretty romantic feel to it, at least on the outside. The rooms are pretty standard. Though, I have to add that the interior walls of the main building has quite an impressive fresco painted. It is quite pretty and may be a selling point for the place.
Lastly, this vila is a little further from the city center, but there is a metro stop about 10 mins walk from the Villa. You can obviously walk too, and it is about 30 mins to walk to Charles Bridge from the Villa. There is a police station right next door, and seems pretty safe. I've walked to and from at odd hours, and I didn't feel like people were following me or anything.
I will say though, the receptionists have a struggling grasp of English, and I've gotten quite a few eye rolls from them as I tried to communicate my message. At one point, the receptionist didn't understand that I had ordered a taxi and kept trying to order me a taxi and gave me an eye roll when I told her I didn't need one. But otherwise, it's pretty good. read more
