Spring through autumn you'll find an orgy of locally-grown seasonal fruits and vegetables; in the winter not much grows in Germany besides cabbage and squash, but the selection is still pretty good (supplemented by items grown slightly farther away). It's a great way to get to know your city and also pick up some great bargains. Typically held during spring and summer it's an event most locals look forward to. Centered around Wörthstraße the Haidhausen flea market is quite big and loads of residents put out their wares. Tons of clothes, toys, household items and knick knacks about. Don't hesitate to bargain, it is expected ;-)) I always do anyway, it's in my blood "born to negotiate" lol Loads of cafes in the area and you can pop in for coffee or lunch and make a day of it. One of my top three markets in town and one that I try not to miss each year :-)) muenchen.de is the website to find out when all the flea markets around Munich are. If the weather is good it's a fabulous way to spend a day in town.

So many people out browsing and buying and loads of families and sellers with their wares out in the courtyards and street selling. The only downside was that there was too much clothes and less of other things. The prices were also very reasonable at most of the places. I love this area of town as it has some great cafes and bars and with the added attraction of the flea market this place really comes alive. I will definitely be back again at this one. We bought some things really cheap and there was so much we left behind as we did not have room in our apartment to put it :-( Besides Schwabing this would be one of the better and bigger ones to go to. Fabulous :-)

I went there in April 2015 and found the market to be really huge but terribly overpriced for most…read moreitems sold. I was specifically looking for vintage clothing and accessories, there was hardly any. Many other items for sale were in average condition with obvious flaws, prices for a good quality bag in good condition would start from 100 Euros. Lego kits would cost more then on auction sites (I bought one for my children and it was 40 Euros online while similar kits were prices from 65 to 80 at the market). I am sure there were bargains but I was not lucky enough to find them. Overall I did expect much more from a market of this size, I have visited other markets, 10 times smaller and surely cheaper with better choice.

This is the best food truck type farmers market that I have ever had the pleasure of visiting…read more Every food area was super clean and the items for sale looked fresh, colorful and amazing. The venders were all pleasant and accommodating. I saw fresh breads, bakery items, sausages, meats, cheese, fruit, flowers and more. I wanted to purchase many items but we are not allowed to bring them back home with us. It would make going through customs a bad experience and possibly cost you a fine. So if you are visiting I suggest that you get what you can together for a nice picnic at one of the beautiful parks and enjoy. Or tote around some fresh snacks while visiting the lovely landmarks.

This little markt is right in the 'hood, so i go quite often…read more The meat stand (Landhof Standl) has excellent, high-quality meat, and the proprietor is super-nice (he speaks great English, but also works with me on my stumbling through in German). the Fischhaus is similarly outstanding - everything is absolutely fresh, and the fishmongers always offer to throw in a lemon or some parsley or rosemary for free. the fruit & vegetable guy has a great selection and his stuff is always very fresh, seems to taste better than fruit I buy elsewhere. However, be warned that inside, his produce is NOT 'self-service' -- and he will be a little cross with you if you squeeze a tomato or try to put your paws all over the onions. this is clearly posted btw -- in German... Prices -- well, you will pay more to buy your groceries here than if you go to Lidl. but you patronize a local business instead of a giant chain, and you're getting better quality for sure.
