After researching literally 100+ photographers in the NYC area, my fiance and I came across Vik M and fell in love with his photography and creative eye. His pricing is very reasonable given his level of talent -- many other photographers of his caliber were charging multiples of his rate. Vik shot our "Sunday Sessions" and was so easy to work with -- from our initial call, to scheduling, to the day of. He has a super calming presence that made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and provides enough direction to make the photos look great but still natural. We chose to shoot in Dumbo, which is an area he's very familiar with, so he was able to point us to some hidden spots with awesome backgrounds we wouldn't have known ourselves. My husband and I met with half a dozen photographers within the span of two weeks while planning our wedding and were completely overwhelmed but the moment we met Vik we were set at ease by his calm and friendly demeanor. Throughout the planning process Vik was always accommodating and flexible making sure to keep us informed of any scheduling changes or conflicts. Great artistic vision. Sincere passion for photography. We hired Vik to do some family portraits for us. He was able to pick out some great locations (we live in the Hamptons) and made great use of the light. More importantly, we have 2 young kids (6 and 4). absolutely donot use vik !!! he is a total fraud! i have never experienced anything like this before!! it has been 6 months since my event and i have not received any photos!!!! he does not responded to any of my calls, emails,, texts ....it's as if he disappeared from the phase of this earth!! i am going to have to take legal action as i am at my wits end trying to make sense of his unprofessional attitude . i unfortunately paid him at the conclusion of my event with him promising to send the pictures within a week ! bitter lesson learnt !! what a rip off !!!!!! read more

Vik is an intuitive photographer with an excellent understanding of presence and composition. Simply put, he makes the ordinary extraordinary. He captured with rare intimacy and heart our quiet little life out on the edge of the ocean in Rockaway. His shooting style is casual and non-invasive, preferring a journalistic approach -- but that is not to say that he doesn't also know how to position a subject for maximum impact. The result, for me, was astounding. He found moments of joy, play, and thoughtfulness over the course of our Sunday morning. I will cherish these images for their timelessness, their narrative grace, and at moments, their humor. I know that ten years from now, when my daughter is sixteen, I will be returning to these images again and again, remembering with fondness (and inevitable nostalgia) a moment in our family's history that was utterly mundane and yet, wholly, mind-blowingly, magical and unforgettable. Vik's photos of us made me remember that at the end of the day, despite all the crap we all put up with and all the challenges we are thankfully only occasionally faced with, life can be pretty darn good. Vik was absolutely wonderful and I could not have chosen a better photographer for our wedding. I couldn't believe how well our pictures turned out. Vik truly has an eye and a talent for photography and I was amazed with the content and details he captured in our photos that I would have never seen in the moment. Vik was definitely punctual, professional and well organized throughout our entire 14-hour event and it was a very long hot day. I think one of his best attriubutes is that he makes people feel comfortable in front of the camera and never makes them feel like he is intruding. This really came through in our pictures. We did not have a wedding party, but I can say that my husband was so nervous and awkward in the beginning when we started taking photos and Vik eased him into acting natural and just being himself.
