I want to begin by saying that this will be my first review and quite possibly my only review on…read moreYelp. I generally don't make the effort to write reviews, but this is a special circumstance. I am utterly indebted to Chris Peckover and could not be more appreciative of his help. He is simply a fantastic instructor. He will push you with your homework, target your weak areas, answer any questions that you have and help in any way possible. Chris is a GMAT expert and will hold you to the same standards. If you need to improve your GMAT score and you're in the Los Angeles area, it would be massively helpful to work with Chris. It took a ton of work on both Chris' and my end, but we were able to bring my score up to a 710. This would absolutely NOT have been possible without Chris' help. I am so thankful that Manhattan Prep paired me up with him. I was recently at an MBA admissions event (at a top school) and the admissions panel announced to the entire audience, which consisted of roughly 300 hopeful students, that if you need help on the GMAT, seek Chris Peckover from Manhattan Prep (I was very excited when I heard his name). Yes, he really is that good. I am sure that students in his classes would agree with everything I have mentioned above, but I feel that I am especially qualified to review Chris because I hired him as a private tutor through Manhattan Prep. This was certainly expensive (on an hourly basis), but for me the cost of not having that extra help and custom curriculum would have been too great. My score increase would simply not have been possible without Chris. He designed a study program for me that was effective and efficient. Although it is expensive, Chris is genuinely a great person and does not want you to overspend. He was consistently giving me advice that limited the number of tutoring hours I needed and from the beginning, he made it clear that I needed to work as hard as possible outside of the tutoring hours so that I would need less of them. If you feel like you need a tutor, I would highly recommend that you call Manhattan Prep and request Chris Peckover. Hopefully he is available!

I took the GMAT in-person class and it was honestly well worth the money. The books were good and…read morethe coursework was really well organized and thoughtful. The in-person class was super helpful and something I recommend if you can afford it. If you're deciding between the online class and the in-person class, some of that should honestly be based on how well you can self-regulate. However, the instructor makes a huge difference as well. The instructor I had, Chris Peckover, was fantastic and made it worth the effort to go to class and of course the extra cost. He made the material a lot more accessible by giving alternative methods to approaching problems and had no issue explaining things again or trying it from different approaches. I definitely appreciated that he was really positive and pushed us to work hard as well. You could tell that he cares a lot about teaching and is invested in your success as well. It comes across in the class and is a helpful motivator. Hard to imagine a better GMAT instructor.

After starting with a different (and expensive) college counselor located in Santa Monica and SAT…read moretutor (expensive) who both came highly recommended but were essentially completely useless, we received a glowing recommendation for Blue Train and made the switch. Best decision ever. Our two sons used Blue Train for multiple things over their junior and senior years - test assessment/diagnostic, ACT prep and guidance, college list building, guidance re HS classes and even extra curricular advise, as well as navigating the college application process and the all-important essay drafting. Scott and the people at Blue Train put the boys on a very manageable schedule and in fact, both of our sons were totally done with most applications by Thanksgiving. Both boys got into tons of schools, got thrown tons of money, and this entire process was so smooth because of Blue Train's guidance. We event consulted with Scott when deciding which schools to attend. I cannot say enough how effective and impressive Blue Train was. Highly recommend !!!

I'm just as happy with Blue Train now as I was in my previous review. Both my kids got into their #1 colleges thanks in part to Scott's assistance and we're again working with Blue Train and Scott for my 3rd kid. Blue Train and Scott are the best! I've referred several friends to them and my friends have all been really happy.

I just started celebrating because I got the score I needed for graduate school while writing this…read morereview...already intoxicated but will try to make it readable... Absolutely AMAZING! I have spent so much money on GRE prep services (thousands) but this is by far the best thing that actually made a HUGE impact on my GRE score overall. I cannot say enough about Charles and his ability to teach the material. He is both passionate and constantly full of energy... that's probably an understatement. Although he sometimes goes quickly through the material, he will ALWAYS stop if you have questions on how to go about answering the questions. In addition, he is always adamant about getting the students to text him, calling, emailing, carrier pigeon-ing, with questions that pertain to the material if you are having trouble. The tricks and strategy on ways he taught me on how to approach each question on the GRE test allowed me to answer most of the questions that I struggled with. He is one of the greatest factors that allowed me to put this burden that has plagued my progression in life down like a dirty dog... so dirty... In addition, the online modules that accompany the Princeton Review is exceptional! Not only are both the presenters attractive (not bisexual) but they go over in detail on how to approach each question step-by-step which allowed me to answer most of the questions that came up on the GRE. I can't speak for those who had bad experience from the MCAT or any other test but, regarding the GRE, Princeton Review is what allowed me to get through this test (with the addition of memorizing an a@@ load of flashcards) and able to finally apply to the graduate schools that will allow me to finally be able to call myself doctor!!!

My son is 11 and has always struggled in math, and I could tell it affected his confidence too. My husband and I tried to help him, but the concepts didn't stick, and then everyone was frustrated. We needed a professional. I was already amazed after the first session because my son seemed HAPPY and EXCITED while LEARNING MATH. What?! My son had been complaining and complaining about tutoring, but now he was actually laughing! My son plays baseball, so Gloria created an activity using baseball to teach FRACTIONS. Yep. Gloria's also great with communication, and she even created a google drive folder to share her lessons and progress notes, so I felt informed every step of the way. You can see that she spends a tremendous amount of time planning and documenting everything. If only my son's school teacher could share this level of detail... Long story short, my son went from scoring Ds to Bs! And he has more confidence and a better foundation. If your child is struggling with math or confidence or both, call Gloria! With all of her expertise and the hours she puts in outside of sessions, she is worth every penny and more!

This could not have been a better choice, as working with Avi Lidgi proved to be what I needed to take the next step in improving my score. After working with Avi for three sessions (three weeks), I was able to improve my GRE score by 13 points (V158 Q159 to V166 Q164) into the 90th%s. While the resources and study materials were certainly useful, Avi's expertise on GRE-style questions and strategy for approaching these questions were invaluable in improving my score beyond what I could have done myself in this short period of time. Many of the questions that I considered highly difficult became simplified and approachable under his tutelage. During the test, this saved me many precious minutes to check my logical reasoning in both the verbal and quantitative sections. As such, I highly recommend Twainstein to any individuals or groups seeking improvement in their GRE test scores. The test is an excellent opportunity to anyone seeking to advance their education, and this test preparation organization offers an exciting way to achieve even greater success.

TLDR; Twainstein was quite possibly one of my greatest finds on Yelp. Highly recommend for GRE…read moretutor services. Money well spent. Over the past year I decided to pursue a career change that would require taking the GRE (/ hiring a tutor) and getting accepted to grad school. Being budget conscious, the first thing I noticed was that Twainstein's services weren't cheap, in fact they were wayyy out of my price range. However after doing some research, reading some reviews, having a pressure-free consult with Avi, and deciding that the best investment I could make was in my education, I made the leap. Best. Decision. Ever. Over the course of a month and half, Avi and I worked together to improve my confidence and test-taking strategy/abilities (Dare I say i'm no longer afraid of fractions?). He was patient, observant and tailored our sessions to my needs. I put in a lot of effort inside and outside of our sessions, and he did the same for me. I also really appreciated his routine checkins, his availability, speedy email responses, and his comprehensive approach to the exam. If you are slow to learn, have a LD like myself, or just lack the confidence, please don't let that deter you from taking the exam! You can achieve your goal score like I did with hard work and proper guidance, which is why I highly recommend Avi and his team.
