Thank you for this insightful honor to testify about MEND's awesome services! When I was having…read morefinancial challenges eight years ago, I was the last of fifteen lucky patrons who won a MEND'S lottery for practically free dental services. Since then, I have been a regular patient of both MEND's dental and medical services. Their dental doctors give me deep-teeth-cleanings every three months - to keep my "pearly whites" healthy and bright! Moreover, their vision doctors give me two comprehensive eye exams, yearly - with a pair of fashionable glasses to match. Although I am 62, MEND's health programs keep me looking, feeling and acting like I am in my mid 40's. My vision is excellent for my age; I've only lost six teeth and my health is above-normal. Moreover, I am proudly showing-off five, glowing dental-implants and am scheduled for one more. I love my visits to MEND. Everyone is robustly friendly and always speak positively, in Spanish or English - like a comfortable family. I can't help from being enamored with MEND's revolving staff and personally miss their fun when they are gone. They are also timely with setting my appointments, making advance courtesy calls, and following-up - even with my trifling concerns. Whenever I have had to wait, they promptly and clearly explain why and give me reasonable alternative dates. MENDS Board-Certified dentists, optometrists, ophthalmologists and opticians are all Five-Star specialists. They are supported by academically superior apprentices that are uniquely trained in their technical fields - with impeccable personal care and social skills. MEND maintains State-of-the-Art equipment and technologically current personnel. The MEND Doctors have Big-Fun in the clinic. You may have to endure some brilliant, esoteric music or videos when you are having your "mug" fixed. Therefore, I cherish my MEND Doctors, who heart-fully call me by name. Several stand out - like Dr. Susan C. Fredericks, Dr. Hale, Dr. Alvarado and Dr. Avocado. Watching and listening to them instruct their apprentices is extremely informative and entertaining - as they meticulously work as a team. Hence, I've absorbed so much health info over the years - while being dubbed the "Patient - Patient -" that I should be awarded an honorary degree! I also take advantage of MEND's generous Food Service Programs that provide heathy foods and meals; Clothing Programs that provide trendy clothes and shoes; and Fitness Programs that provide nutrition info and diverse exercises - for our homeless and struggling neighbors. Also, MEND's yoga and samba classes; and their special events for children - rock! In essence, you will love coming to MEND. They truly MEET EVERY NEED WITH DIGNITY! Clarence CHAZZ Ross

Honestly this place seems like a great assistance to the community. It is a clean organized…read moreenvironment. My only issue being that it was a mission for me to donate to this location. I tried over the summer and was told they were at capacity and wouldn't accept clothes for another 3 months. I tried calling ahead of time but no one ever answers. I advised them to at least notify on their website to avoid making the trip out there. I then attempted to donate a few months later, again, no answer on the phone. Once I arrived they said they extended not accepting donations for a few more months because they were still full. After a few more months, I attempted one more time. Only to arrive and find out there was no staff available (during regular business hours) due to an off-site training! Needless to say, their communication could be better. It took 4 separate visits to finally be able to donate. With all that being said, I hope the clothes go to people who really need it and it helps them in their journey.

The organization presents itself as a nonprofit, but my experience has not reflected the level of accessibility, communication, or support I expected. I hope leadership will improve responsiveness, transparency, staffing stability, and measurable outcomes for the people it serves. A polished mission statement is not enough. A nonprofit should be accessible, accountable, and effective--not just well branded.

I was across the street at Firestone and decided to stop by and check out the Salvation Army Thrift…read moreStore to see if I could find anything. I didn't have anything too specific in mind but after some browsing I got excited to find some really nice professional blouses to wear for next week. The store is very clean and the clothes seem clean too. It seems like the clothes are hung by color not by size which makes it hard for me in my opinion to search. I pulled out some really cute things but they were not my size and there's allot of moving hangers noises while everyone is searching but you get used to it and tune it out at some point. I found 2 nice blouses, 1 nice professional sweater, and 2 nice casual sweaters. I also browsed the other aisles containing home goods and found two cute hooks. I don't understand the tag system though, they have color codes like yellow tags, orange tags, etc and I couldn't figure out what each color means. The only downside is not being able to try on things before purchase and they have final sales policy. Sizing can be off and you can't trust a tag. I usually wear medium to large but some brands sizing isn't the same as others, so right there in the aisle i decided to try on the size small blouse to see if it would fit over my shirt and it did fit but the whole time I was doing that I was worrying someone would tell me I can't do that. Anyways I used that blouse as a comparison with others to make sure they seemed the same size lol. I like the store and it was fun finding gems in the sea of clothes! One person's donation is another person's score!

This is one of the reasons why I donate to this location...it makes me feel good knowing I am helping out my community. The inside of the store is quite large with racks of clothes separated by sizes and gender. It is very neat & clean. They also sell used furniture, accessories, books and more. Donations are excepted daily during regular business hours. Plenty of parking in the lot. **Donation Drop offs - located in the back ~ and that's all I have to say about that...

He beat me, raped me, stole everything I owned and accused me of being worthless. I ran away from him, only to encounter several of his type on the streets. The workers at this shelter have been angels to me. I love them all, especially the manager, Kay, who is constantly busy and never says she is too busy to listen, my PC, Marilyn, who is setting the example of who I want to be more like, and Gloria, because she's a quintessential female badass. There are many great counselors here, who are helping me build up my self-worth, piece by piece. If they were among the King's horses and men, Humpty Dumpty WOULD be back together again. There are few male staff members, but they are all class and restore my faith that not all men should be considered sub-human. Our maintenance worker, Ricky, is here everyday and works very hard to make the place nice for us and always treats us with the highest respect and professionalism. I would give this place five stars, but the food is awful and would be much better if kitchen staff could prepare it, instead if rewarming crappy food a caterer brings. Also, there is a policy of laissez-faire, related to women stealing from each other, even though there are ample cameras to identify the thieves and subjecting them to termination. My abuser stole everything I ever got he could sell for a dime, so when these women do it, who I could physically stand up to for myself, it is a huge trigger for me, and I'm lucky the staff here has managed to diffuse my anger and redirect it thus far.
