Having been a rider English (hunter, jumper), trails, polo, dressage and have had an array of instructors, trainers, coaches you name it; I have done it or been there. In all that time I have finally found an instructor that communicates in a way that I (and you too) can understand.
Many of the trainers over the years were quite good and very competent and professional in their own way; but many, if not all, did not communicate in a way that is always understandable to the rider.
In today's instructional/riding class Ms. Sarah Vickers (she has been my riding guru for 5 years) had an assortment of riders:
a returning rider who recently had a child, a rider who is in the process of a personal- family issue and needs the therapy that a ride can provide, a long time rider with a new saddle (issues), and of course me, blabber mouth.
Sarah knew we are had various levels, knows our strengths and weaknesses (areas for improvement :0) She was instructing us in a number of ways that made me feel competent. The others felt the same.
During a short break, Sarah was discussing with a vet about a horse that she is acquiring for a rider. After our lesson and Sarah's conversation with each one of us, I saw her load the horse in the trailer and drive off to complete that task.
So... what am saying? Sarah Vickers is a star, she is a pro, she is honest and she is intuitive about her riders and their horse (leased, owned or school horses). What promoted this diatribe was this: I rode a school horse today that was right for me. As I was thinking that, Sarah commented; I like that horse for you. She made note of it! SHE is GREAT! no matter the level. read more
