After a 10-year break from riding and competing, I decided to get back in the saddle again. I am so thrilled to join Trillium Farm! The trainers, Etsuko and Yulia truly care about proper horsemanship no matter what level rider you are. Their hard-working team, Elodie, Maynor and Luis are always around to answer any questions and keep the barn running smoothly and in a perfectly organized manner. The horses' well-being and the safety of the students is always a priority. As an added bonus, they are based at the beautiful facilities of Portola Farms.

Being away from the horse community for 25+ years and with a background in Western; finding the right fit was challenging. In fact, it was intimidating and daunting until I met Etsuko and Dana. They quickly assessed my background and put a plan in place that helped me build my confidence back while teaching me ALL the new fundamentals of english and jumping. They coached me through the differences of Western to English. Through this process, they have built my trust to know if they say I'm ready for the next level; I can lean in with confidence. I believe they are a great team for any level of rider. They have a keen sense of the building blocks to move a rider up to any level. The treatment of their horses is spectacular. Their staff are helpful and loving to the horses. The horses are happy, unstressed and pampered. The other students, advanced and beginner, are really down to earth and supportive. I've felt welcome from the first day I stepped foot in the Trillium Barn.

Trillium is the ideal choice whether you are new to riding, trying to locate top notch training and boarding for you and your horse and everything in between! This is the place for all things equestrian. I rode extensively in my childhood and returned to it as an adult a few years ago. Now, with Etsuko's help, I have realized my dream of having my own horse and we started showing last month! Trillium is a professional but friendly and supportive environment for all equestrian pursuits.

I've been riding at Trillium for about a year and a half and love it. I've ridden at a number of barns around the bay area and around the country and am really happy to be at Trillium now. I appreciate Etsuko's empathetic, patient, and precise training style. She's helped me regain confidence over fences after a few bad falls jumping some years ago. Etsuko is organized and knowledgeable. She has both excellent horse skills AND people skills. I strongly recommend this training program.

I owe this success thanks to my prep from years working with Lara and Kelley. Additionally, I was a head trainer for my college's lesson program for two years and trained over 200+ kids in this program/ in summer camp. Vintage lane prepared me to teach the kids of Sonoma County. They learned positive reinforcement with horses and I thought them the value of good horsemanship- fundamental principles of the vintage lane program. After graduation of horse college and returning home to the Bay Area, Lara has welcomed me back with open arms to re-enter the show ring scene and she also rehabilitated my horse Cash after being falsely accused by his previous owner of never being able to jump again. Lara made him healthy and fat again in less than three months and brought him back to perfect health/ jumping condition after over 6+ months off jumping. Lara is extremely gifted at finding diets/ exercise regimens that are specifically tailored to each horse's individual needs to make each horse shine and is a very experienced horsewomen. I am thankful for such a special barn and the welcoming and positive atmosphere this barn prides itself on!

I breathed a sigh of relief because I had bought her gifts already but knew this was the last one. I ask her what she would like to buy Mommy at the saddle shop? Her eyes gleamed and she had a list. We get there and I believe it is Nicole who greeted us. There is a surprising amount of inventory throughout a well-organized and clean market. I personally know very little about what is needed for horse care, but my 11 year old is practically a ranch hand now, and it was a pleasure to watch Nicole and her talk horses and needed equipment for about 15 minutes. She treated her as an adult and gave objective feedback about each item and let her identify and choose the equipment. While picking out a durable item, I could tell it was quality and I was a little hesitant because I've seen the markup on things like these. I flipped the tag and price was very reasonable, probably comparable to online or even less. So we have high quality inventory, knowledgeable and objective support, a person who works well with younger patrons, and very reasonable prices (not to mention an absolutely beautiful location in Portola Valley). Yeah, easy five stars.
