I knew that she would be perfect to capture our wedding day. I'm not usually the type of person to note another's 'aura' or 'vibe', but this is different - I swear! Mellissa has this calm professionalism about her that just takes the energy down to a calm level and allows you to just 'be' in the moment. I was so nervous about the photography part of our wedding. Neither my new husband or I consider ourselves photogenic and just feel really uncomfortable in front of the camera. Mellissa's style was perfect for us. She patiently guided us to poses and used some really neat tricks to evoke true emotion from us both. The best part - once we were in place she just stepped back and did her thing. We both felt like we had all of these moments of private togetherness on our big day. It was the best gift she could have given us! I am beyond thrilled with the final product also. Turn-around time was really quick (much faster than she quoted). The photos were nicely edited down to a reasonable number of photos (around 400-ish, I think) that perfectly told the story of our day - capturing it all without having to click through thousands of photos to find 'the good ones' - they are ALL good ones!! She listened to what we wanted, used our ideas and requests, and gave us several hundred fabulous photographs. We thought it would be cool to take pictures on these red picnic tables at McMenamin's Grand Lodge. She agreed and those are some of our favorite photos. Many of the other photos we received were of things we missed from being the center of attention, so they are extremely fun to look at and see what our guests and wedding party were doing while we were occupied. My husband and I are still in awe of the quality and how the photos made us look and feel. I never felt more beautiful than looking at those photos from our wedding. Both her and Greg were extremely professional and sweet. Just having two people with calm and gentle attitudes made me more calm and I can easily say that they made me more sane on my wedding day. For those that want to know why I'm saying this...read on. I hired Shannon to take my maternity photos for my second little one. I wanted something outdoors this time and thought the coast would be perfect. I contacted Shannon and from the very first email, she was so friendly, professional, upbeat and personable. I emailed her no short of 20 times to ask opinions on outfits, locations, dates/times and she responded promptly and with enthusiasm every time! She made sure I felt important which was nice. Flash forward to the day of my shoot, I decided to opt for hair and makeup by the person she recommends, Sarah Bradshaw. I am very hesitant about getting my makeup done because I am picky and don't want to be disappointed. I sent a photo over of the look I wanted and Sarah nailed it. She did such an amazing job!! She made me feel beautiful and is extremely talented. She is also super sweet and down to Earth, which made the entire experience fun. Shannon was also there for the entire "getting ready" portion to chit chat and get to know me which was awesome. Shannon definitely scouts out the best places for the photos and spent way over the average amount of time shooting my photos to ensure we captured the best light for each location.
