I don't knit, but I love bright, pretty colors...and this store is three floors full of colorful skeins of wool, bolts of cloth, crafts materials, and other shiny bits and baubles. I act the disgruntled husband when my wife or daughter drags me in here, but the truth is that I love chatting with the friendly staff or just sitting down and watching people shop. I love, LOVE, *LOVE* this place. It has everything you could ever want/need in a craft store. I've gotten some fabulous wools there, and made some lovely blankets and scarves as a result. I also love their collection of beads and often find myself spending way too much time pouring over it, and as a result, making some lovely earrings, etc. I often wander in the store just for fun and leave with unneeded yarn, beads, thread. It's a lovely store, and the staff is helpful and welcoming. I love this store. read more

I dream of rainy days in town with nothing to do but spend hours browsing and getting lost in a good bookshop! And this is the bookshop to do it in. If I think of a book I want to read, I go hunting in Vibes. If it's not there, I'll toughen it out for another week, another browse, another find... Coz if the book I'm looking for doesn't turn up, an alternative is always waiting to jump off the shelf and flutter it's pages in your direction. Love the fiction, travel and cooking sections. If you can't find anythin to read in Vibes & Scribes, you might want to consider just giving up reading altogether. You'll find a book to suit any taste, and any price range, thanks to their second-hand section. In case you're not in the mood for reading, they've an excellent DVD selection, catering for art-house and foreign cinema buffs. There's also a music section that again leans more to the nerdy side. They've also opened a second branch closeby on Lavitts Quay. This expansion has kept the books, but added an art supply store and knitting and other clothes making supplies. All in all, if you've got even a minute of free time, you'll find something in V&S to occupy it. read more

Oh how I wish there was a wool shop as magical as this in Dublin. We arrived searching for a comic book store my boyfriend remembered only to find it transfigured into the wool shop of dreams. What sorcery! 2 floors of Autumnal hues at sale prices! My boyfriend was disheartened but my heart was filled with joy. The book shop is still operating at 21 Lavitts Quay. read more

VIBES and SCRIBES Bridge Street's Vibes and Scribes is often the forgotten bookshop of this city, as most people's first or second call is to Eason's or Waterstones. I was in Eason's today, in search of the Bridgestone Ireland Good Food Guide and couldn't find it. Waterstones came to mind but that was in the wrong direction and, hesitating, I chanced to think of Vibes and Scribes. No sign of it there either so I called to the desk. A quick check was made for me and I put in an order and it should be there for me in two or three days. Again, every friendly and efficient service. Easily Cork's best book & music shop. Huge secondhand selection of books and music, all very reasonably priced, as well as a great selection of new books. I really like the huge, extensive selection of travel books which always have the destination I'm heading too. Great photography and art books at discount prices. Large children's section near the back also. read more

Staff are nice, ordered fabric online a few times, they have wide selection but are rather expensive, the fabric I did get were cut exactly at 39 inchs so there was no shrinkage added, for the price you think there would be, overall I wouldnt order any expensive fabric here, read more

God I do love a good nosey in this shop, Im a book worm and this is just V&S is just the bees knees for some one like me. I could easily spend an hour here just browsing and I inevitably always come away with some good finds . Lots of bargains to find here. They also have another shop on Lavitts quay. read more

This shop didn't seem to want my money today . I saw some fabric online ...just happened to be in Cork today . The fabric was at the foot of the stairs but ....and this is what astounded me ...I couldn't buy it ...only online ..one staff member did agree it was a silly situation but the other staff member said ...no ...only online plus postage ! At least when I return to my craft class in Co Wicklow we will have a laugh when I tell them ...good one vibes & scribes ...must be the only shop I know not intrested in making money !! read more

I would live and die in Vibes and Scribes! An excellent range of new and secondhand books, and some remaindered. Price-wise they're reasonable, and the staff don't hunt you if you spend ages browsing the shelves. The Lavitts Quay branch has an excellent range of art books, while the secondhand section of the Bridge Street branch has literary and non-fiction titles as well as a fairly wide range of sci-fi and crime novels. read more

This shop is a crafts persons wonder world ,and for knitting wools they are just wonderful ,stocked with beautiful yarns of every make .I so enjoy spending hours looking through every section and never come out empty handed always get something exciting to work on ,It is great to have such a great facility in our city . read more
