The parking is near the beach and it was a garage that was $10 all day. The bathroom is near the beach as well. They have an area you can rinse your feet near the restroom. During season, if you cant get a spot in the garage, street parking is available but it gets tough. You can rent cabanas and chairs there. This is a popular destination and it does get busy, I would say that during holidays expect there to be a crowd, if you are desiring a quite beach, this is not it during season. I love that there is a strong beach police presence, it helps too when the sea turtles laid their eggs and they have surrounding protection.

The sand is so fluffy and clean. Beautiful shells are scattered along the seashore here, so if shell hunting is your kinda thing, bring a small bucket with you to the beach. The water is mostly calm, but sometimes there are waves. Bathrooms, a concession stand, and picnic tables are all found at this park. There is a parking lot, however keep in mind this lot can easily fill up around busy seasons like spring break, so it's best to get to the beach early. This is also the perfect spot to watch the sunset. Check out this beach if you're in the area!

Despite the amount of people there, we were able to find sea shells, and because of the time of day, there weren't a ton of gulls. The beach stretches out for quite a bit in both directions from the pier, but we went to the right of it to get the best shots of the sunset. Parking here is metered with one of those pay machines where you put in your space number and how long you will be there. It is reasonably priced, and there were a lot of parking spaces. I believe you can park on the bordering streets if the lots are full. Honestly, I didn't even now we were going to visit here, but I'm glad we did! The sand is soft and white, not too many shells here but if you are into walking it's a good beach for that especially if barefooted. I'm not sure how crowded this beach gets on a weekend but when we were here we felt like it was our private beach as there was only one party with chairs set up here on our arrival. We loved the secluded parking ($10/ 12 hours) and the lovely beach walk which included complimentary life vests for children!

Tigertail Beach is a unique destination and an adventure for visitors to Marco Island, a corner of…read moreFlorida surrounded by the Everglades and mangrove islands. The beach is named after a Seminole leader and what makes it so special is that it is divided by a tidal lagoon. The developed lagoon side is an important bird habitat and it has amenities like a playground and restrooms. To reach the beach side you wade through the lagoon which is about 50 yards and which allows you to reach the waters of the Gulf. If you prefer not to walk through the lagoon you can walk around the lagoon to the south to reach the beach in about 20 minutes. The main part of Tigertail Beach across from the lagoon is Sand Dollar Island or Sand Dollar Spit. The area was an off shore sandbar completely surrounded by water until the winds of Hurricane Wilma and erosion connected it to Marco Island. It is known for its incredible deposits of sand dollars, giving it the name and making it a favorite spot to find sand dollars and shells. Adjacent to the park is Big Marco Pass Critical Wildlife Area managed by the state and it is a resting site for a variety of migratory shorebirds. Tigertail Beach is a birding hot spot during spring and fall migration. It is a part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, one of the longest running programs of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The trail consists of more than 500 wildlife viewing sites across the state. Things to keep in mind, if you are going to to the beach pack what you can carry if you plan on crossing the lagoon. Most people carry their belongings overhead. Parking is ten dollars to park or a Collier County beach pass. if you like a beach adventure and nature, this may be the experience for you.

It was busy but there is plenty of room for folks to spread out.

If you do not have a boat, there are plenty to rent - coming from Naples that is. I'm sure Marco Island has boats too. Don't like boats? Get personal with a jet ski or...stand up paddle board? Just don't plan on walking there. I would arrive early. When the weather is nice, the non-gulf side unofficial watercraft parking lot fills up quickly. I must have gone up and down the bay side 7 or 8 times trying to muster the gusto to park my rental boat in between (what looked like) very expensive, very owned boats. Even tried to park a boat in water thats moving? You can't inch up to it...its all or nothing. Good luck. Should you prove conservative in your boat parking endeavor, the "gulfish" side has plenty of room to throw and anchor and swim up. There are too many people swimming on that side to ram a boat up the shore. This is the route we opted for. Note: make sure your anchor is secure. Otherwise, you will be eating tuna from a pouch and having hummus and pita chips in such a nonchalant fashion that you won't really notice you are drifting....into the sandbar. That area is very not deep. Get on the island, hang at the beach, grab shells, and mingle with other boat people. Observe the many happy puppies in the water. Visit the food boat and enjoy burgers, grouper, and beer. Look to the gulf side and you can see into forever. Look on the bay side and I challenge you to find a car or truck (or road) anywhere nearby. As busy as it is at times, it is very peaceful. While we were here, the weather was stellar, the storms were to the north (Naples) and we had a fantastic show to watch while still basking in the warm sun's warm sunny warming glow. Now reapply your sunscreen, because your back (like mine) will get burnt in very little time. Keewaydin is a clear watered, soft sanded, and very relaxing escape from the 'ness of everyday life. Be on a boat. Escape the 'ness. Go to Keewaydin.
