There are two golf courses in the vicinity that I have membership. It is nice to have a place to have great food and a couple of brews after a day on links. A very special lady is about to retire soon. She will be turning eighty and is sharp as a tack and a great manager. Thank you Janet for your commitment and love of the locals. read more

Yes I am giving 5 stars! My husband had eaten lunch here a few time with his golf buddies, and thought I would enjoy it. We were in the area a couple times recently, so we went to vfw for lunch. I am very impressed with their food! I love deep fried okra, my Mom used to make it Well they have deep fried everything!!!! I had the okra and a cheeseburger My husband had tenderloin and the sweet potato fries. We shared the okra and the sweet potato fries. I wanted to try something else when we went back the 2nd time, but everything was so good the first time, I ordered the same thing again. The cheeseburger was cooked perfect juicy, but done! The okra and sweet potato fries were absolutely delicious The waitress was very friendly, the restroom was clean and spacious. I would highly recommend this place, if you are a cheeseburger and deep fried kinda person!!!! read more

Friendly service, $1.25 beer on a Friday, all you can eat fish day! The fish taste good but was a little greasy, i think the grease maybe was a little old because the fish was dark! Everything else was A OK! Parking lot is almost always crowded for lunch when we drive by! They must be doing something right. Would return and try again. We have returned, 10/14/2016 fish was better and along with everything else good! (CAUTION) if you order the appetizer pick 3 platter be prepared to get stuffed! They are full size amounts not small down sized portions like other bars! Also had burgers earlier in the week and they are really buneo gran gran! (CAUTION) if you order the grilled or fried chicken salad and don't care for bacon you better speak up, because it's loaded with big hunks of it. read more

The walleye specials was seasoned well and properly cooked flavorful and tender I did finish and had two more pieces without feeling gorged. The slaw was naturally sweetened and creamy and crisp. People say this theater is haunted by the ghosts of the people who died in that fire. We talked to one of the girls who works there and she told us a couple stories of things that have happened to her that make her believe this place is definitely haunted. There is a Haunted Decatur Tour that you can pay $40 to partake in, you get on a bus and drive all over the city and visit all the haunted spots. We lucked out, the tour had just arrived at the theater when we got out of dinner next door, and my friend was able to convince the tour guide to let us join in (for free!) for the Lincoln Theater part, since we were from out of town, would never be back, and wouldn't have time to take the whole tour. He was nice enough to let us. We probably only spent 15 minutes inside the theater, half of the time we stood on stage while he told us the history of all the people who had once performed here, from Houdini to the Marx Brothers to Bob Hope. The other half of the time we went backstage and looked at the famous spiral staircase that is supposed to be haunted. The tour guide had a few stories of his own about things he had experienced on the staircase. Do I think it's haunted? Who knows, I didn't experience anything, but it's cool to have visited, as this place regularly appears on lists of the most haunted places in the US.

We were in the process of closing on a home and loaded up the truck. Our new home was in Decatur so when the loan officer called to say the closing had been delayed, I was at a loss. We had no idea when we'd close plus the Penske truck was already loaded up. I called both the district office and the returning place for the truck which is Chevrolet Hall of Fame, and they understood it was out of my hands and worked with me until I was able to return it after a delayed closing. Brad at Chevy Hall of Fame truly went above and beyond. If we need to rent a truck for any reason, it'll be from here.
