Do not take wild animals here!…read more We found a poorly crow in the park lying on its back. The crow couldn't fly so we took it to this clinic. The clinic staff informed us on the phone that they would transfer it to the local wildlife rescue centre. The rescue centre was a 30 minute drive and we didn't have a car otherwise we would have done it ourselves. We called the clinic again two days later and found out that the crow had been put down. They said that the crow still wasn't flying and the vet decided to euthanise it. We asked what tests they did and they said that they lacked the resources to do anything thorough. Moreover, the rescue centre called us and told us that they hadn't been contacted by the clinic about the crow. The crow should have been transferred to the rescue centre with the proper facilities, like the staff told us they would do.

On our first visit i struggled to find the place as on first look it just looks like a normal house. I parked around the corner off the main road as at the time i had a pooch who would randomly jump out the car as soon as the door was open! The tests and investigations carrried out were to a really high standard and i didnt have to wait long for results. The staf were really understanding when i had to put my boy under general anaesthetic. Once a treatment plan had been commenced i found out my insurance were not willing to pay out. The vet staf especially one of the vets peter were really understanding and offered me email consultations to avoid high costs and ordered medication direct for me to avoid third party costs. I would have no hesitation in recommending this vet and the service it offers.

I've been here several times, once in a desperate attempt to save my distraught younger sister's hamster from dying and more recently, when my mum's wee cat had to get his jags. The staff are always incredibly cheerful and friendly and have great conversation with not only the pet owners bus the pets themselves, in their baby talking coos. I particularly enjoy the waiting room, where otherwise bashful locals can strike up conversations with the aid of the antics of their mutts or moggies.

This is part of the Queen's Crescent Veterinary Clinic (http://www.queenscrescentvet.co.uk/) which…read moreis headquartered in the west end, but also has a branch on High Street in the city centre which is super handy for us. They have various payment plans available - we pay a fixed amount per month which covers all of Sadie's visits and prescriptions and considering how much of a Calamity Jane she is, it has been well worth it. The veterinary nurses are always so cheerful and helpful when you phone - if you're not sure whether or not an appointment is necessary, they are always happy to pop an appointment in at short notice. They are open from Monday - Friday: 9-12pm, 4-7pm Saturday: 9-11am. Saturday appointments are like gold dust. The vets are amazing and clearly adore the animals that come through their doors. Sadie loves the fuss that is always made over her (until something pointy appears that is). This veterinary clinic is the best that I've experienced - everything in plain english, they don't condescend to you, and nothing is too small. The headquarters in the West End also offers puppy training classes which we made use of - it was invaluable .. not just for training, but also socialising with other dogs. Lastly, they offer a boarding service for small animals (guinea pigs etc.) One of my friends used them for boarding and was really impressed with them.

He did the same for our Bearded Collie when she had Pyometra. All of these incidents happened during the night or on the weekend and Jim operated on the spot. He's referred us to the Vet Hospital on a few occasions when our dogs have needed more involved intervention. We cannot thank him enough for all he's done and continues to do for our dogs. We have been going to him since approximately 1992. I cant rate him enough, he is such a sincere and caring man.

Choosing a vet to take your beloved pet to is like choosing a nursery for your kid. It has to be…read moresomeone you respect and trust, who you would feel safe in the knowledge that they were prescribing your pooch the right medicine. We took our little puppy Ollie to a different vets at first in a neighbouring village but didn't find them to be very accomodating when we needed them most; my pup was taken from his mum too early and had a lot of digestion problems. One night, in an emergency we called the Brannock Vets Surgery, when the pup was really poorly. They couldn't have been more helpful, telling us exactly how to deal with the problem. So they became my doggies new doctor! The surgery itself is small, with one treatment room and extensive area through the back. The receptionists are young and friendly, and always really sweet when my pup piddles in the corner every single time he goes there! The vet, Elaine, is just fantastic with the animals and puts them and the owners at complete ease. We even ring up sometimes just to ask advice and she's always happy to help. The surgery sells a small selection of pet food and toys too, which is handy if you want to reward your furry friend there and then for his bravery! Fantastic vet, can't recommend it enough!

Not a vets for cats…read more - Cat suffered an injury that was not fully corrected by the vet. - A month or so later the cat was returned with a flair up and the [different] vet managed to cut the cats whiskers off on one side, while shaving some furr. An absolute no-no. - Was given a frankly extortionate estimate bill for intended work to correct the injury that should have been fixed a month earlier. The work is a simple clean up and stitch up operation, yet is more expensive that previous work the cat has undergone to have complex dental issues corrected. - This included a £30 charge for transporting the cat from Cathcart road to their Rutherglen base. A distance of approximately 2.5km. - Record keeping at the practise failed to record the cats correct name until the THIRD notice of telling them. Overall extremely disappointing. Especially the vets (plural) seem to have very little practical understanding of cats.
