Adopted a kitten from here. The staff is friendly and they let us bring our dog to meet the kitten in case they did not get along. I asked a bunch of times if the cat had any illnesses and they said she did not. As soon as I we put her in the car I noticed something was wrong. She was sneezing a lot. Took her home and set her up in her own space to feel comfortable. The next day the sheets were covered with blood! Immediately took her to the vet. She had parasites and an infection. I had to spend another $200 for the visit, fecal test, and medication. When I reached out to Lisa she did not offer anything. I believe all the cats there are sick. It is just the nature of the environment they are in. If one kitten has something it spreads to others. They also constantly get new kittens which can bring in parasites or viruses. I believe they knew the kitten had issues and they lied to us. This is not right and I am honestly shocked that they would lie to use about it. Even though our kitten is very sweet I would recommend going somewhere else! This place is not transparent and they will be done with you as soon as you hand over the cash. read more

We adopted two kittens. One was from a hoarding situation. Both were neutered/spayed at the time of adoption. We are a couple of months down the line. No home visit was scheduled. No follow up call was made to be sure the kittens were doing okay. I called and sent pictures but no response. I felt like they got our money and now they couldn't care less about the cats. This is supposed to be a rescue. They are supposed to be helping animals in bad situations get into better ones. If this was my experience, it might also be the experience of others who got animals there too. These kittens were also less than 5 pounds a piece. We could feel every bone in their bodies. If this rescue is supposedly putting in time and money into these cat rescues, it is going to the vets who spay these kittens VERY EARLY, then discharge them to be adopted without any other care or rehabilitation. There are other adoption and rehabilitation/rescue's in this city. PLEASE, use them. You will be happier in the long run. read more

Tried to adopt a cat from this place. The volunteer decided in a 5 minute conversation that we were not a fit home for a cat. I'm guessing because we have a dog, as her demeanor changed when we mentioned we have one. We are lifetime pet owners and our lab has been around cats his entire life. They decided even prior to a meet and greet with the dog. I'm very sad that a cat lost an opportunity to be in a good home. We have since adopted from the shelter, and the cat and lab are already best friends. read more

We adopted a 4 month old kitten from this place and I would highly recommend them. They are doing their absolute best to ensure all kittens that are adopted have been spayed/neutered (when they are old enough) and have all vaccinations. They are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts to take care of cats and kittens that are in bad situations. A week after getting Cuzco he had ringworm. I contacted Lisa and she provided us with the full medication necessary to bring our kitten back to full health. We went through an extensive interview to make sure we are the right fit for Cuzco. They will not give their cats/ kittens away to just anyone. He is happy, healthy, and growing. I could not recommend this place enough! My boyfriend surprised me when he brought me here on my birthday! I had no idea I was going to be picking out a kitty to take home with me... Was definitely in tears when I saw the box of kittens. Kobe stood out to us as soon as we saw the kittens. He had so much personality! There was just an immediate bond and we knew we had to take him home. Erin helped us out and she was very helpful and kind! I loved and appreciated their honesty with us and I could see the genuine love and care for the kittens/cats. She gave us her number in case there was anything wrong or we needed anything which I really appreciated. All kittens/cats are also neutered and microchipped. Thanks to this rescue I found my baby and best friend. We just love him so much. It's been 7 months since we've had him now and he's been such a joy in our life. Like the other review said be careful when you adopt. We got a kitten who was asymptotic ringworm carrier. Now my family members got it. I really wish i read the other review before coming to this place. Lisa did seem very helpful at first but now i think this is all fake. If you adopted any cats from her please have them checked for ringworm and other health issues. We are drained with vet bills now. read more

I adopted a cat on Saturday 9/3/22 and by Monday i was at the emergency animal hospital with her, she had a fever of 103.8 and had ear infections in both ears and an eye infection as well. I sent this company an email and a text with no response back from them asking for my adopted fee of $150.00 refunded back to me . The vet bill was $805.00 I never asked for any of that repaid back to me. I thought having the cats roam free was good idea but now I see it clearly is not . do not adopt from here !!! read more

I can't say enough amazing things about this rescue! We ended up finding a mamma kitty and her two babies in the back of our truck one night! We had no idea how they got there and as much as I love cats, we are a dog household and our dogs are not cat friendly. I put them up in my spare bedroom that night, but I was at a loss on what to do with them. I posted about it in a Facebook group and luckily Lisa saw it and reached out to me! She came and picked up all 3 cats and within a couple weeks they were all vetted and in loving forever homes! I was blown away by their quickness and dedication. I would recommend them a thousand times! We purchased our kitten, Kit, from VFAP a couples of months ago. The people at Vets for Abandoned Pets were helpful with picking the right cat for our family and answered so many questions. They even checked up on me days and weeks after to see how Kit was adjusting to our household. Got in touch with them, brought the cat and vet paperwork and tag and the $100 they demanded up front. They promised he'd be an easy adoption, esp as he was declawed front paws. (I couldn't keep him as he was antagonistic and territorial against my other cat.) Within a few days I got a late night email demanding I pick up my cat the next day. Turned out he wasn't doing well in that caged environment. I showed up the next day to retrieve him and Lisa said they'd had a couple wanting to adopt him and she refused because he'd been so anxious in their environment though she would give them my contact info or me theirs so we could arrange a private rehoming. No refund of my $100 was suggested. I had to ask her for my (original) vet paperwork as Lisa was forgetting about that, and also I noticed his breakaway collar was missing, but I let that go. After I got home I realized the rabies tag hadn't been returned either. I emailed Lisa re the missing tag and she said she'd mail it. I also requested status on the older couple who wanted to adopt my cat, but I never heard back from her. After a few days of no tag in the mail I emailed Lisa asking whether she'd mailed it and I had no response. Though she'd said my cat was easy to re-home and in-demand (and she is a zealot against declawing) I never heard from her or was given any references. As well, while I was with Lisa, she had been more intent on advising me to buy a multi-level outdoor cage for the cat that would be against a wall in my house and there would be a dedicated pet door into the cat's own room inside my house. This was her solution to my having two cats who can't live with each other. Honestly, this seemed excessive to me, as well as undoable for the layout of my home. read more

My wife had always had a cat growing up, I was not really into owning a cat but of course she convinced me to go to shelter after shelter. She finally found this one center by our house and we decided just to "take a look". Of course as soon as we got there and saw all these cute tiny kittens and beautiful older cats I knew my "take a look" was quickly going to turn into "yes honey we can adopt that one". I was right. Gosh, where to begin..... I had an abandoned cat show up one day, we tried to take care of him but he was in pretty bad shape and unfortunately, we were in pretty bad financial shape and just couldn't afford to get him proper health care. I started making calls on a Saturday morning around 11:00am and after 3 or more hours I got no where. I just didn't know what to do, then the following day I received a call back from Lisa with Vets For Abandoned Pets. I explained the situation, she said she needed a little time and would call me back later. I patiently waited and before the day was over, she called back with an appointment for my stray to see a vet at no cost to us. When I asked if it would be ok to transport him in a box, she asked for our address and sent a volunteer to our home with a proper carrier. After the vet appointment we took the cat (Simon) back home with medicine, food, litter etc..., but after a few days we realized we were unprepared to care for him the way that the vet had suggested. When I called Lisa back and told her, she said to bring him back on the weekend and she would do an assessment. As sad as we were to surrender the Simon, I felt that he was going to be taken care of and that we had nothing to worry about. Sure enough, we got there, they scooped him up and gave him a nice quite shelter where he could recuperate. Our house is very quite with Simon gone, but I have no regrets on our decision to accept Vets For Abandoned Pets unconditional help. I called for weeks, left messages and never got a call back. Filled out an application last weekend for a kitten and got an immediate response that there were no more kittens but more would be there next weekend. I decided to just go there that next weekend with my two children right when they opened Saturday morning. There was a great kitten that they said would work well with my family. We spent over an hour there playing with the kitten. I asked how I could move forward with adopting her since they said she needed to be spayed before they would adopt her out but they couldn't get it done until March 4th. One lady told me to scan the code on the wall and fill out the application with the kitten's name on there. I did it right in front of her and she even looked for it in her email, or at least it looked like she was doing that. I was told I would hear back from the owner soon and we could move forward. So I left but came back the next day because my children wanted to play with her and my husband wanted to meet her. They told me she was adopted that morning! I asked how she was adopted since she wasn't yesterday and I had put in an application. The lady I filled the application out with straight looked me in the eyes and acted like she didn't remember I filled it out. I'm just so hurt, my kids are so sad. My daughter started balling her eyes out. I just don't understand what the heck happened. I'm absolutely distraught right now. I was even going to offer to foster kittens for them since I spoke with the owner about it and she said they never get kittens socialized with children. read more

My girlfriend and I went to Vets for Abandoned Pets to look at cats we had seen on their Instagram page. I had my heart set on Princess Cupcake so when we got there and saw she had been adopted already we were heartbroken. The volunteer that was there was so nice. She showed us other long haired cats they had at the time and even helped go under cabinets to let us see Tessa who was hiding. The volunteer explained how Tessa was shy and would hide but if you spent enough time with her she would eventually peak out. Hearing the back stories on each cat was so amazing. Every time I pointed at a cat the volunteer instantly knew the name and told me a little about them. Though we follow the Instagram. It's completely different actually being there. There are so many more cats than just the ones I saw on the page. Finding a good no kill shelter is hard in Las Vegas so finding this diamond in the rough was really incredible. I like this place and how it is set up but when my family went there was a female orange and white kitten. We wanted her but someone had her on hold so the next day Lisa would text us and tell us if they took her. If not we would go get her keep in mind we told them that we where not going to declaw the kitten because that is extremely rude. Anyway so Lisa was going to text us around 11:00 am and so I was all scared and one hour goes by and we did not hear anything we had all ready texted her and called her she did not answer or respond. 24 hours goes by and we get a text saying "sorry we can not adopt to you because you said something about declawing the kitten and we do not support that." I responded "I think you have us confused with someone else." All she said was"did you apply some where else to adopt a kitten." I said no and told her about some things that happened when we where there and she did not respond. So i do not recanted going here. read more
