I have been a client of Tina Vest for more than ten years. I value her knowledge and patient care so much that when she didn't take my insurance I paid out of pocket to see her, even though that was not the best financial choice.
The only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is because she is so busy and invested in time with clients, and in advocating for mental health coverage on many levels that she can have issues with time management. I recommend her to anyone who needs a psych provider and always include that as a caveat.
We are in dire need of psych practitioners. She could change her style to standard 15 min med management appointments and make more money. She chooses to spend more time with her clients to optimize their care instead of stacking her day to optimize the number of the claims she can file to make the most money she can.
instead, Tina takes a whole life perspective when treating mental health. She knows it is vital to understand what is currently going on in your life so she can make an informed decision about recommendations for treatment. She spends time making sure she understands, so even when medications aren't being changed, you will still spend time with her so she knows what is going on in your life. There have been times when I have thought I was fine on my current meds, but Tina was able to pick up on how my quality of life could be better by making a change. She points it out, explains her thought process, and makes sure you understand when you make a decision of whether to make changes or stay on the current treatment. She explains why she is prescribing a certain medication and what to expect from it.
Her knowledge and investment in her clients having the best treatment possible are incomparable. That takes time, so her biggest strengths also create the biggest obstacle because she can't be in ten places at once.
Any time she has been late or has needed to reschedule she took responsibility for the difficulties this can cause, has worked to make sure I have the care I need until the next appointment, and thanks me as part of apologizing.
An additional thing to add here is that I have been on medication for mental health for almost 30 years. I have changed psych providers multiple times over the years. Tina and one other psych provider are the only two who I felt really cared about my quality of life in every way, and took that into account when suggesting treatment options. read more
