I lived in a world where things were starting to close in around me. I was on probation for drug misdemeanor drug possession. I was doing things that if I had been caught would land me in prison. That report to probation I told my PO that I was at the end of the line. It was either jail, or somewhere away from where I had come from. We called over 30 facilities trying to get me in. All either would not take me, or had a 30 day waiting list. We both knew something had to give. We prayed together. He gave me directions to a local motel that I could afford to stay in for the night. We wold try to call more places the next day. 2 hours later as I was eating my dinner there was a knock on the door. I looked out the peep hole it was my PO, and behind him was a very large black man. My thinking was that he was there to take me to jail. He had gotten the biggest guy in the place to come with him. In case I put up a fight. I opened the door, and he introduced me to Isaiah. As a leap of faith. I got into the van with him. I gave my word that I would give 6 months of not using, and applying myself to the program. Later that night he dropped me off to the bus at a church in Ft. Worth. I rode 3 hours on that bus not knowing where I was going. Nor what I was getting myself into. I had a $5 bill in my pocket, and pack of cigarettes with me. I did not even have a change of clothes with me. The staff helped me to get some more clothes. I will point out some things to cut to the chase. The place is not heavily structured. They get to most things at least 15 minutes late. You are going to have to get used to hearing the word No. You will need to understand that at times people are going to say one thing to appease you. Then do something else. Outside the gates of the place you are going to encounter a whole lot of that, and not have as many folks around to talk to about it. My breaking point came there. After 6 weeks there, and not using the whole time. Rock bottom for me was not being broke. It was not having to do without. I went through that while using, and managed to attain the ends, and means to get by, and keep using. I was holding onto thoughts of using once I was away. It was when I faced some cold hard realities that something in me broke. I cried out to God. For the first time in as long as I could remember at that point I felt peace inside. I dedicated my life to Christ, and would share the Gospel with all that would hear. I graduated at 6 months to the day. I went to the recovery home in Ft. Worth and was not able to get work until I cleared up my probation status. Isaiah brought me back to the ranch to help out around the place until we could meet with the judge. We later met with the judge. The judge was impressed by the change he saw. My probation was extended. I stayed and worked for HOI for 4 years after that. It was hard. It was tiring. Days off were very few. God has since greatly rewarded me for that sacrifice. I have since then worked at a few different jobs. I am typing this as I pack to move to another state. As I am starting a new career that pays more than twice what my last job did. I would not be where I am today without God, and the House of Isaiah. As far as work, and careers goes. I have had to pass drug test for every job I have held. My last job I was drug tested 16 times in 10 years. Not a single one failed, I never had to worry about a single one. I would not be going to a better job now if I had not been able to pass the drug test either. If you have a set back. Do not take a step back. God has a comeback.

I attended Burning Tree Ranch in…read moreKaufman, TX for just under two months in the fall of 2025 after multiple detoxes and many prior short-term programs. I was a client, not a referring professional or business partner. I left and have since gotten to a much more stable place. This review is not written from crisis. It is written because the gap between what was presented and what I experienced was large enough that I wish someone had said these things clearly beforehand. When I later raised the discrepancy, a senior leader's response was essentially, "We got you here, right?" There were genuine positives. My individual counselor was excellent -- the best part of the experience. Some other staff treated people decently, and I met at least one client who said he needed and wanted the long-term structure. I will not pretend those things did not exist. The problems were structural. The program was presented as roughly a year; the actual continuum is closer to two and a half years. Outbound communication with family was tightly controlled -- calls monitored and restricted, and my first letter home had to be read aloud to the group. At the same time, the facility maintained its own channel to my family. During detox I was directed to turn banking access over to my father, being told it was to prevent me from taking someone else from the facility and leaving with them. At times the facility went into "shut down." Clients could not speak to one another, enforced even without staff by using confrontations so people would call each other out. During shut-down the chairs were placed so we were in continuous physical contact, bathroom access was tightly controlled, and the "corner" chairs were highly sought after because they gave a little space. I never agreed to give up my physical autonomy, including the freedom to use the bathroom when needed. They also removed coffee during one shut-down; when it returned, the clinical director said something like, "Your bodies are craving it, it feels good, right?" I watched them take drawing away from a client who used it to regulate. Seeing him later leave in an ambulance the second time he ran is a big part of why I'm writing this. Daily confrontations significantly increased my anxiety. Staff repeatedly referenced my military service with variations of "What about this is harder than being in the Army?" For someone with significant anxiety, that combination of confrontation and control was extremely difficult. A program that presents itself as dual-diagnosis capable should take this more seriously. When I asked to leave I was held 48 hours, then dropped off at 3 p.m. in Dallas behind a homeless shelter that would not take me because I just wanted to go home. What keeps me on track now has nothing to do with fear of that facility. It is the knowledge that I will one day give an account. I'm at peace with what I have to say here. I was lucky enough to be born to the best parents a man could ask for. They supported me through a very difficult time, and I love them for it. I'm not telling anyone to avoid treatment. If you need it, get it -- just go in with open eyes. Families should ask hard questions about total length, completion rates, how communication with family actually works, and what happens when someone wants to leave. The place is not what the marketing suggests, and the cost of discovering that after arrival is high.

We were unable to get a copy of the license for our insurance company. They facility blamed the state. The state blamed the facility. Months have passed and no resolution. We moved out!

My loved one is in this facility and the Anderson building on the 2nd floor has no A/C. It is very stuffy and the rooms are VERY small, like the bed is literally at the door and feels like a rock, look like a bed for a toddler. The room is something out of the 60's decor, the owners ought to be ASHAME of themselves. The building is old and very outdated, why do we treat our Seniors this way? I will not recommend anyone to this retirement home...NO WAY!!! They need to do some major updates to the decor and also the staff as well. Called for a nurse, she did not come until 20 mins after, glad it was not an emergency. I am not impressed by this facility, actually ashamed my grandmother is at such a place.

I have never had to wait to get in to see him when I was sick. I even was super sick with a very high fever on a weekend and we called and he was able to see me and give me meds to help us avoid a hospital bill. I would highly recommend Dr. Tran to anyone!!!
