Bought two trucks from these people and was going to buy the third when I found one locally for less. I had put down $500 and called them the next day to tell them I wanted to cancel the deal. They would not refund the money even though they had done nothing for it. Their truck was off line for one day. I have been in business for 40 years and work on retainer. I would never keep someones money if I had done nothing for it. It's called integrity. Vernon Autoplex has none. Can they keep the money- Yes. I don't normally write reviews, but my experience compelled me to. TL;DR: These guys claim upfront pricing but that is not the case. Shop elsewhere. Educate yourself: Know the fees you are law-bound to pay and ones that you aren't. Search Google for "bigthink buying a car" and watch the video. Google "confessions of a car salesman pdf" and read it. I'm in the market for a used 4WD/AWD vehicle for snowy weather and to travel to our cabin. It won't be a daily driver. I emailed them my terms below. My terms are simple and the same I've given every dealer (helpful hint included): - I'm shopping around in multiple states from dealers and private parties. Whoever gives me the best deal, gets my money. - Don't attempt to sale me any other vehicles, this is the only one I'm interested in. - I would be paying cash for a vehicle (even if you are financing - get outside financing - they don't need to know you are financing. You can pay your down payment to the finance company) - I would not be trading anything in. (sell privately, you'll get more money than trade-in) - I will only pay the fees I'm legally required to pay: Form 130-U ($28 or $33 app fee + $2.50 reg transfer) and registration, if it needs renewing. (It wasn't based on public records but quoted me the renewal). In Texas, that is all you have to pay. Anything more is pure dealer profit. - I will not pay any fees that are purely profit. Specifically for them, Vehicle Inventory Tax (dealer pays this, not you - TxDMV even says so - google it) and "documentation fee". No matter what they say, you don't have to pay any other fees. No extended warranties (you can purchase these cheaper online after the sale) - You have one opportunity to give me your best price. I will not haggle nor will I visit the dealership to talk. - If the total price changes when I arrive, the deal is off. - Deal is contingent on final inspection of the car. My experience: - The car was being offered early in the week for around $12,500. Now asking is $13,000 - Rodney quoted $13,150 plus the VIT and doc fee. This is $150 over their advertised price, not to mention the fees I would not pay. No one sells at sticker, much less over...lol - Obviously they didn't take my email seriously and wasted their opportunity, which I let them know that. - Deiter (used sales manager) replied back it was "market shift" that caused the price increase and would honor the quoted price anytime. Thanks! I can't wait to pay over your advertised price. This was the sole reason for me writing this review. Market shifts? Wow, really! Rarely do market shifts happen in auto sales and they are only confined to ultra-rare, high demand used cars or limited edition, high demand new cars. Not the case with this vehicle. - I guess they hate an educated, forward buyer. Complete waste of time. I understand they have to make a profit, but don't waste my time quoting over your asking price. read more

Great initial email then sales manager writes to say "there's something not on the up and up " because I want to register the car out of state. Total BS. Respectfully asked to speak to him to understand what his issues could be (hey anyone reserves the right to sell to whomever). Refused to speak to me. Simply would not get on the phone or respond to emails. Total BS. That's not customer service. I think they put the car online at a price that was too low and they simply had sellers remorse. Either way these guys are unprofessional and they have no claim on customer service. read more

I placed an order with Vernon for a 2018 Raptor in September and left my $1,000 deposit for the order with Cassie a sales rep. I was promised the raptor would arrive "long before thanksgiving" in an email. On December 15 the Raptor arrived nearly 1 month past the promise date. I was understanding as delays can happen from the factory as the Raptor has special parts. This weekend since the raptor arrived I have dealt with nearly 10 of their sales employees and two of their finance officers as no one seemed eager to close the deal. I planned on using a bank wire or cashiers check, however over the weekend they never sent me a routing number or the final invoice. Today, four days after the truck arrived I received a call from their general sales manager telling me that I must pay $5,000 over sticker for the truck. I informed him that in all 102 emails between Cassie, Sheridan, and other sales personnel their was NEVER ANY WRITTEN agreement for even $1 over sticker. Vernon gave false promises to the date of the vehcile's arrival and attempted to scam me in the end. Overall very poor service and illegal methods as the price they email, and tell you will be lower than the price you pay. To an internet buyer such as myself I highly suggest not dealing with Vernon. read more

I was just talking to them about getting a used vehicle. I told Richard, the salesman, I had a KBB instant cash value. He then proceeded to go on a 5 minute talk about how I should not expect to get what they said for the cash value. I told him I would look somewhere else because he spent so long talking about the KBB value. He then quit talking and hung up on me. In about 5 minutes he called back and said "I guess the phone messed up". That might have been more believable if I hadn't heard people talking in background and he didn't wait so long to call back. He was looking at my info when we were talking so my phone number was in front of him. After he called back he was supposed to call back shortly with a trade in estimate of my vehicle. That was almost 4 hours ago, still waiting on the call. Don't waste your time here. read more

This is my experience as a shopper. I was getting multiple emails a day requesting my phone #, so I thought what the hey, maybe they really need to move some inventory and I've got some free time today, so I'll give them a shot. I got connected with a salesman that is hard to describe. If I had to guess, I would say he was in his early twenties, just because of his lack of respect and arrogance.Hopefully this young man can get a mentor who will teach him respect and how to treat potential customers. Ma'am, I sit around multiple people, whom heard our conversation, including my manager. Not once, did I ever insult you, or saying anything rude or discerning. All I did was, instead of just saying "Ok", and moving on, after you said no to our price, try to voice concern for another person. I only spoke, when I thought you were done talking, and I apologized to you, on the phone, for making you feel uncomfortable. However, I really don't know, how you could have felt uncomfortable, by me pointing out things to watch out for, when shopping, but somehow it happened. So, again, I'm sorry that you were insulted by me trying to look out for you, but I meant no harm. You did not take the time to ask me if you could help me find something that would meet my needs. You did not accept my financial boundaries (Does that mean you wouldn't offer me the vehicle I wanted at my price? No, that means you told me I wouldn't find a good, reliable vehicle for my price.) Not to be unkind, but if you are truly being honest about only speaking when you thought I was done talking, there is some sort of issue that needs to be addressed. They were more than fair on what they gave me for my trade and the price on the vehicle was the best I found anywhere in the country. I knew what I wanted and what it was worth. The rest of the buying experience with Jr. at Vernon was as easy as making a purchase on Amazon. As for the lifetime warranty in my experience none are very good. I have had them from the manufacturer and they are all very restrictive. Vernon tells you up front how it works and is not deceptive. I purchased a 2013 Toyota Tundra from Vernon Auto Group. Initial dealings were great, but when the truck was delivered, the courier only had one key. I was contacted the day after my truck was delivered asking how the truck was. I told them all was great except the one key. The sales rep, Mark Dunson, told me he would check into it and call me back. I waited 2 days with no contact. I called Mark to see what he had found, he told me he had tried to call me but calls were not answered and voice mail was not working. I told him that was unusual, because I had been getting voice mail the prior two days. I then asked him if he had texted me or emailed me, these two options had been used when we were working on getting the deal put together. He said no. As a matter of fact, he had sent me an email asking me to review my experience on Yelp, Dealer Rater, Facebook, Cars.com, and Edmonds because he is required to get 35% of his customers to review so he can get paid. He then told me it was company "Policy" that the used vehicles are sold how they get them and since they are not a Toyota dealer, he can't get another key. I told him I was pretty disappointed because I had paid $36,000 for a two year old truck with one key, the only problem I had with the other wise good transaction. He told me he understood and that he would personally pay for the key himself. I told him I didn't expect that, and that I didn't want to spend anymore time talking about what he could not do for me to remedy the key issue. He said he was sorry and best wishes. I got married 2 days after this all happened, so I was busy with wedding and honeymoon for a week after. After the honeymoon, I got to thinking that I needed a key incase I lock the keys in the truck or lost the one I had, so I had a key made, key only for $108.25. I also thought I would give Mark a chance to rectify the problem, so I sent him a picture of the key and receipt. His response verbatim was, "Well we tried to take care of this last month but you decided t o hang up on me. If you would've done something last month I could've got it done through the dealership. But with it being a new month I can't get it passed by management. I'm sorry Danny." Two lies from the same person! Like I said, the transaction was great except for the $108.23 issue with the key. I even told him I didn't need a fob, another $115, because all I wanted was to have access incase the one key was lost. He even told me his father is the Sales Manager and he would talk to him when he got home that night the first time we discussed the key. read more

I was sent pictures of the exterior pings & a hole in back leather seat. We noticed floor mats missing & had to ask about that. ($150) That was all I was aware of as far as problems. I was so disappointed when I received it. LESSON LEARNED. I will NEVER buy a car without seeing it before. I was told by my salesman that they would follow up and make sure I'm happy, I have had it a week and haven't heard from anyone. The car smelled like an ashtray, dog hair all under the seats and dog scratches on drivers window. The car has suffered extreme heat damage! There is a large crack across the dashboard. (the windshield has to be removed to try to repair it) Front pillars by windshield wrinkled and stained. HUGE PROBLEM: HEATED & COOLED SEATS DON"T WORK!!!!! I have to take to Cadillac Dealership and will probably be $1000 for new module. I specifically asked if they worked before I bought it. The wires under the seat have melted and been worked on. Left mirror has a crack in the back and the whole thing won't move when button pushed. Some type of short or problem with front a/c display, I can't keep passenger side lit up to adjust temp. Built in phone charger doesn't work. Manual missing. ($50) Back radio/ a/c display lights don't work so can't set temp or do anything. Back of drivers seat had leather pocket RIPPED off and remnants hanging out. Console leather has pulled away on both sides, it cannot be fixed, has to be replaced by Cadillac. Passenger door handle silver is all flaked off. ($250) Piece of weather stripping around driver window is sticking out. Dent in hood. Crack in front light and whole assembly with lights has to be replaced to keep water from getting in & shorting the lights out. Exterior paint on both sides has CLEARCOAT COMING OFF has to repainted. Clearcoat off on back of car. Front bumper has been repainted poorly, it doesn't match the rest of the car & you can see paint drips. Hood has permanent water spot staining. Was told by salesman that tires had another year but they are worn and have to be replaced now for safety. ($1000).... there are some other things I'm not remembering, It will need $4000- $5000 to get things fixed. I am very disappointed. I would return the car if I could. I'm just sick about it. I have waited 7 years to get my dream car.....and it's a nightmare. I was completely misled about the car. read more
