Going into my GMAT preparation, I thought doing countless practice problems would suffice in order to master the test. After taking a few practice tests and not seeing any change in my score, I realized I needed to take a different approach. Hoping to take the GMAT by October, I signed up for the Full Online Live Course starting August 21st through September 28th. The classes are 3 hours long with an 8-minute break to help simulate what the GMAT breaks will feel like (so helpful day of). The first class serves as an introduction to what the GMAT is and the classes progress in difficulty as the lessons go on. For each class, you do skill-builders to prepare for the upcoming lessons - these really help prepare you to test out new strategies discussed that day. In terms of the class, we would go through various strategies for problem types and then do a lot of practice problems. What's great about the course structure is that it's live! This means that you can ask questions in real time and get answers straight from the teacher. In addition, the platform has multiple choice options so that you can not only submit your answer, but also see the percentage break down of what other people answered. The absolute highlight of the course was my teacher, Ethan Todras-Whitehill. From day one, his energy and passion for the GMAT made the 3-hour class fly by. He's incredibly smart and qualified, but very down-to-earth at the same time. He'd get to know each of his students and strove to help everyone understand the subject matter. In addition, he's hilarious, so even if you're learning Data Sufficiency, you will end up leaving class with a smile on your face. Once in a while, he'd check up on me to see how the course was going. Even after the course, he emailed to see how studying was coming along. Knowing that someone else was rooting for me really helped motivate me on test day. By far and away, the Veritas course is worth every penny. I highly recommend the Veritas Prep course. I took their online course back in February, and was able to raise my GMAT score 100 points in a little over a month. The Veritas Prep materials gave me the tools I needed to achieve the type of score necessary to attend a top 10 business school, and I am happy to say that I begin my studies at a top ten business school this fall. All of this is thanks to hard work and the Veritas Prep program and instructors. I signed up for Veritas because I wanted to seriously increase my GMAT score. I was only interested in attending one of the top MBA programs in the nation so I needed to perform extremely well on the GMAT. Veritas provides structure, in the form of classes held two times a week. It also creates accountability in terms of attendance, performance in class, and homework. All attendees for Veritas were the top of the class that were interested in attending one of the top MBA programs. The course instructor knows this and focuses on preparing you not only for GMAT but for how the application of these skills in the test are essential for your business career. Veritas provides you with multiple resources to enhance your GMAT studying and fully prepares you to sit for the test. With the full in-person course you are provided with 12 books that are complete with an introductory section, lesson, homework, and explanations to the answers. These 12 books focus on 12 different subjects that will help you prepare for the GMAT. The course grows during the 7 or so weeks that it takes place. Beginning with the basics to help you refresh some skills that you may have forgotten or don't use on a daily basis. After you are fresh with these building blocks you are then prepared to solve what makes up the major portions of the test. During this middle period is where you can control your score and you breakdown each section by question type. The instructor helps explain every and all types of questions making it easy to understand how to increase your effectiveness. After hitting the meat of the test you are presented with the 90th percentile questions of each section. Based on your strengths, this is where your performance can put you over the 700+ mark. The instructor guides you through these final sessions and helps students who are stronger in these areas. For those that are not as strong in these areas it is encouraged that you focus on the meat of your weaker subjects before trying to conquer the more difficult sections of the test. The in class sessions are extremely valuable not only as a way to go over questions and answers but to understand how to approach every type of question that you will be presented on the GMAT. The instructor will interact with all students and get to know you individually. He will make it a point to call on you for subjects that you need the most work on. They make it clear that it is important to score well on your strong subjects and to improve your score on your weaker areas. This type of focus is the difference between self study and Veritas. Veritas helps you understand the breakdown of these questions and how to see them as your stronger subject type. A verbal question can be explained or formatted as a quantitative and vice versa. This analytical breakdown of the test helps students take control and see it from the view of the test writer. After taking the full day class on Saturdays in Evanston, I would highly recommend Kevin Richardson of Veritas Prep. Veritas has a lot to offer. They offer many practice problems of every type of question you may encounter on the actual test, 15 full practice exams, a live help line each evening and a great classroom experience. Kevin was great, he spent a tremendous amount of time going over the important material in class and making sure each individual received the attention he or she deserved. Kevin has the ability to explain a concept at many different levels. He can connect with the individual shooting for a 760 just as well as the individual shooting for a 600. He helped me improve my understanding of the GMAT tremendously. I now understand how to approach the test and how to do well on the exam. Because of his ability to clearly articulate the material I was able to improve my score. Veritas was well worth the investment and I have been raving about it to anyone who asks me how I did so well on my GMAT (720). I went into the class unsure of how much value a GMAT prep class would add to my pretest studying. All I knew is that I didn't want to waste any time or risk retaking the exam due to poor performance on my first attempt. I cannot guess what I would have scored without the class, but it definitely would have been less than 720. The greatest value that the class brings lies in two main areas. First, it provides you with a structured approach and time-line for preparation (I imagine most GMAT prep courses would provide this). The second, and most valuable, key attribute is that Veritas instructors teach you several ways to approach any given problem. This expands your thought process by introducing you to problem solving techniques you almost definitely would not use naturally. The instructors have all received scores in the 99th percentile on their first attempt and have had extensive training in identifying what problems most test takers face and how to correct the problems. I found my instructor, Kevin, to be extremely committed to giving the class as much of an advantage as he could. He is extremely bright and is very engaging. Usually people with his intelligence do not excel in soft skills, but he was great with interacting with the class and keeping the class involved. He took the time to help the entire class, which was only about 12 - 15 people (loved the small class environment), and held private conversations with each student to identify each individual's strengths and weaknesses in order to better prepare them for the GMAT. I loved what I got from my Veritas experience and would recommend it to anyone interested in reaching their highest potential score on the GMAT. The instructor, Kevin, was fine. However, Veritas was a mess. The practice problem answers were not helpful at all, the books were remedial, class never started on time, these joker tried to double charge me without explanation, the list goes on... I should have known better when half the class was taking their free re-take class because they did poorly on their first test. Definitely a second rate program. In the end my score did not really improve (630 to 640). I was pretty mad about giving up such a big chunk of money and time. When I reached out to customer service they were completely unhelpful. They basically told me I was SOL. Taking this class was a huge mistake. I'd strongly encourage anyone to search for other options. read more

I'm so glad that I took Veritas Prep's live 6 week course. I read a lot of reviews of different GMAT prep programs before selecting Veritas Prep and chose Veritas because they far and away had the best reviews. They didn't disappoint. My instructor, Kevin, was fantastic. He was funny and sarcastic and he's a really bright guy. I had complete confidence that he could answer any question I had about the test and I knew that he really was the best one for the job. He got to know each student individually and gave us lots of individual feedback. He truly wanted each of us to succeed. He provided us with so many shortcuts and unique ways of looking at problems that I never would have thought of on my own and that you can't find in a book. The lectures were so helpful for preparing for the exam and the homework really helped keep me on track with my studying. It's hard to motivate yourself to study for something like the GMAT when you're also working full time, and the Veritas Prep class really helped me get into the mindset and refresh topics that I hadn't thought about in many years. The program is fast-paced and you get out as much as you're willing to put in. The homework problems are a huge asset. Not only do you do homework review in class, but there's an entire online "solutions" section with detailed explanations and sometimes even video explanations for the problems, and there's also an online help line available. You don't have to do the homework, but why wouldn't you? Veritas Prep was also incredibly accommodating when I had to miss a class. They immediately offered me multiple makeup options. Minus 1 star for a few mistakes in books and bug/errors on the veritas practice tests. After completing a test, my recorded score would fluctuate everytime i logged back in. Mr. Goergen was extremely helpful throughout the entire ACT course. He provided us with a better understanding of the ACT and many tips. Also, he gave his own incites about how he received a great score. When I came across a difficult problem he would explain it well to the class and i would improve at a gradually pace in each section. All in all, Mr. Goergen helped me gain confidence and feel more comfortable taking the test by improve my weakness. read more
