Ristorante Verde Smeraldo certainly has one thing going for it: it's open late, though I believe until 11pm and not until midnight.
That's a huge plus considering the crazy schedule of working professionals like myself, staying at any one of the area hotels on business, often for extended periods of time. If it wasn't for places like Verde Smeraldo, we'd be forced to go to bed on an empty stomach or replace dinner with booze.
Verde Smeraldo complex has a pizzeria, bisteccheria (steakhouse), discoteca (a discotheque) and music bar, and a swimming pool (picsina). Businessmen from the surrounding offices frequent this restaurant for their group outings, lunches and dinners. I believe the entire place is called Parco de' Medici Club and can be booked for private and business functions.
They use a wood fired pizza oven for their pizza, which turns out absolutely great and certainly way better than that at That's Amore pizzeria. It turns into a steakhouse in the evenings, and so grilled juicy stakes are also available.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, it really surprised me to learn how much carbs are consumed in Italy, and how much Italian cuisine is based on pasta, breads, panini, gnocchi, prosciutto and other cured salty meats (loaded with sodium), and how little there is in a gluten free vegetable and fruit variety.
Perhaps downing it all with red wine makes a difference, but locals survive here, and so should I.
Verde Smeraldo is located in Aurelia near the Parco de' Medici complex of scattered business buildings, area hotels, Parco de' Medici Sporting Club, Sheraton Golf course, Space Cinema entertainment complex and Joy Village arcade.
If you're staying at Rome Marriott Park hotel or Holiday Inn, I highly recommend to check out Verde Smeraldo and their wood oven baked pizzas. You can book a table here through Misiedo, an Italian equivalent of the American Open Table. read more
