There was plenty of bean sprouts but they looked like they've seen better days. If you're looking for your spice fix, throw in the hot red pepper slices which are sure to clean your sinuses. So my girlfriend and I were very happy to recently find a new Indian restaurant just 1.5 blocks from our apartment in Vila Mariana. The restaurant is called Bawarchi and it is located on the 2nd floor of a house with no major signage directing people inside. To put it very simply, it really is just a house that serves up very nice Indian dishes. The menu is surprisingly extensive with a variety of appetizers, a half dozen different types of naan, dozens of curry dishes as well as other Indian favorites. The owner/chef is Indian and has been in Brazil for 13 years. My girlfriend and I have eaten here 2 times in the last week and we are hooked. All of the dishes are colorful and have so much flavor. The prices of the dishes are also very reasonable. Both times we split an appetizer, a couple naan, curry and rice and some beers and the total came out to R$ 70. It is one of the best deals in town and easily one of the most flavorful.
