He wore them to practice and slipped because they weren't the right type, and they were extremely tight on his feet. We physically went back to the store to show them the shoes and explain the situation. The staff member there was polite and tried to help, but the manager and owner were not present. They made the decision over the phone not to allow any return or exchange, without much consideration or asking for more details. To be clear, I even ended up buying the correct indoor shoes in a size that was two sizes up from the original pair, which is further proof that the first pair was way too tight. I was ready to do business with them again and just needed a fair resolution, but the refusal over the phone felt dismissive. It's not about the money for me; it's about being treated justly as a customer. I hope they improve their customer service in the future.
