Owner Dustin Mabe was easy to reach, and he and his crew took fewer than two hours to down and remove the tree and clean up. Their pricing, efficiency, and quality of work were impressive, and I will probably turn to them again if any of our other trees seem in danger of toppling. I say "probably" rather than "definitely" because of Dustin's sense of timing. When I first called him for a quote, we agreed upon a certain time for him to do a quick appraisal, but he showed up at least a half-hour earlier than expected. Then, when I called the next week to schedule the removal, he said he would check his schedule and get back to me the next day with his availability. Instead, he called me early the next morning to say that he'd had a cancellation and wanted to do the removal an hour or two later. This ended up working out OK in the long run, but it would not have under normal (non-quarantine) circumstances, and it's something for those without a lot of scheduling flexibility to beware of. You'll also want to confirm whatever quote that was given to you as it will not be e-mailed to you (though proof of insurance will). In short, Mabes does great work at an unbeatable price albeit with a few eyebrow-raising practices.

They had an incredible little robotic machine that fit through my fence to get to the limbs in my backyard. They all proceeded to get to their appropriate jobs and in no time at all, they had both limbs down and stacked neatly in my neighbor's yard for him to use as firewood. This company did tree removal work for my neighbor and left a mess. Chips from their wood chipper were all over on our side of the fence in our vinyl-lined pool and on our pool deck. This is costing me around $350 for cleanup and chemicals for the pool. When I asked the employee about it, the young woman told me that it's not their fault, they can't help where their chipper blows, that I should have a pool cover, and that I'd have to take things up with the homeowners, who are an elderly couple. Later, another employee told me he knew someone that could vacuum my pool for $80, which in no way takes into account the actual work and chemicals required to return it to balance. Completely unethical.

It had dropped branches over the years but we were hoping it was okay. Mel took a stick and was able to insert the stick inside the base of the tree. He said he thought it was hollow. And as he took the tree down today, he was right! Almost the whole tree and most of the branches were hollow even though there were leaves on the tree.
