The second floor is beautiful with old paintings of Spanish conquistadors and officers. Need no more than an hour to cover this point of interest.

It was incredible seeing the Archives of Chris Columbus here!!!! It was like going to a library,…read morequite larger than expected, with all manuscripts of his journeys. Each volume is like a large dictionary or encyclopedia - and there must be thousands of volumes tightly packed around this library!!! Although you aren't able to touch them or look into each one, it's quite astonishing seeing the vastness and multitude of paperwork documented. You can also see the impressive chest, with several intricate locks, that I'm guessing held all the gold. Wow!!! There are also several paintings throughout these archives, of all the explorers of the era. It was nice to see a picture to the name of the explorers I had to report about in the 5th grade. This is an awesome, exquisite, and quiet retreat, should you need to step out of the hot sidewalks of Seville.

On 21.10.2019, my bag containing my passport was stolen from a sidewalk café around 19:00. I…read moreflagged down a passing National Police car and they told me to call the Alameda de Hércules station where I was transferred to a very polite English-speaking officer who took my report over the phone and instructed me to stop by the next day to sign it. I assumed they'd never find the thief or my bag and resigned myself to the nightmare of having to obtain new travel documents. However, at 1:00 two plain clothes officers showed up at my hotel with my bag and passport. Nothing was missing! The thief, having found no money, discarded the bag in a nearby park where a good Samaritan found it and turned it in to the police. Thank you to the officers of Alameda de Hércules and the Sevilla Police Department for their professionalism and for going out of their way to promptly return my passport and other belongings! There was so much going on in the Plaza that it's well worth a stop…read more The Plaza was maintained long after the 1929 Iberian-American Exhibition wrapped up and fun to explore. We especially enjoyed seeing the different details and content represented in the 52 provincial alcoves. We crisscrossed the canal as we watched rental boats paddle by, horse drawn carriages picked up and dropped off in plaza and the flamenco dancers, musicians and bubble makers. The short walk up to the second floor also provided another perspective to take it all in. Definitely one of the must sees while visiting Seville.
