We stopped for breakfast at Cove Cafe and had a delicious breakfast of poached eggs but a 35min wait for our 2 coffees was ridiculous. Next time I would just go to one of the stalls for coffee as Cove did not cope well with the increased demand. There are a few things that could be improved (narrow walkways, lack of stock on many stalls, cramped stalls), and the organisers seem to be receptive to feedback on social media. As a local I will definitely be back but may give it a couple of weeks to see if the crowds die down.

Brisbane really likes its farmer's markets. I'm not averse to this trend, but Carseldine (which I…read moredo not live near but ended up at by happenstance) was a bit far for me. The setting is quieter and has more space than some of the more urban markets, but the selection, while worthwhile, is no better than any of the others. While I found things to eat, it also didn't quite have the great spread of vegetarian options I have become accustomed to elsewhere. I'm more about the prepared food vendors, but I wasn't especially impressed with their actual vegetables, nor the other crafts. Transit-wise, it's walkable from the train stop nearby and there is a bus that runs by. If you're in the neighborhood, I'd check it out, but no reason to travel any great distance to get here.

There was a nice shop with scents for a car or small room that I considered getting some gifts from. Loads of food options here. From vegan, Japanese, Mexican, German and more. Lots of coffee options as well, but it was a million degrees and I was already dying from my last coffee. There was a traveling petting zoo at the market; I do not believe that this is a standing attraction tho. There was also a nice bouncy house for the kids. Great market, enjoyed the experience.

I don't…read moreknow about the old location, but the new one is convenient by all three of Brisbane's major modes of public transit, and also eminently driveable. It tends to be a packed house, full of bad pedestrian behavior but good vendors. The range of sellers here is eclectic and upper crust, even compared to its numerous competitors. They have some very expensive (but very good) bakers, an entire stall devoted to nut milks, a french toast truck, and, at least the last time I went, adoptable greyhounds. They also, for a market of this size, do very well on actual vegetables, including an organic farmer and several other substantial stalls. Indeed, they've got things for all sorts of people; if you want to make ultra-healthy food at home, you can come here for ingredients, and if you want to indulge, you can stop by their fudge stall. People with restrictive diets should be pretty happy; a South American stall offers to cook their breakfast dishes with cactus instead of egg (and their beans are tasty), and a variety of decent options abound. This market is mostly food (though there are a few tents of clothing and other sundries). I would suggest avoiding this place if you are a compulsive spender, as there are a lot of ways for your money to disappear fast. But since I'm self-disciplined (and my exchange rate is favorable), I find it worthwhile to visit.

They move into the Old Museum twice a year, flaunt their gorgeous bits and pieces in our faces and then choof off until 6 months later. It's not fair. But I will forgive them. And no doubt I will spend all my pay at the next markets they bring up to our fine city. I've been lucky enough to go to these markets 3 times, the first time was the first market they've held in Brisbane. It's amazing how much the word has spread! This market is specifically for Australian made arts and crafts and I can't even cope with the overflow of gorgeous that Finders Keepers has to offer. Handmade jewelry and clothing, home wares, leather goods, stationery, art prints and more! The reason I keep coming back (despite the crowds) is not just to peruse the clever creators and the fun things they sell, it's because you can make a whole day out of it. The lawn at the back of the Old Museum gets filled with delicious food stalls, and local bands provide the entertainment when you need a reprieve from the stall-madness! I would definitely suggest preparing your wallet for the blow it may receive, because so much of the stock is hard to say no to. If you're organised enough, save your pennies and do your Christmas shopping at Finders Keepers. The Winter market is usually held around June/July and the Summer market in October/November.

It's a really good way to get some inspiration, pick up some unique gifts and meet some of our very talented Australian artists. Some of my favourite stalls included one that made bed linen that turned your bed into a block of chocolate, the Frankie stall (fairy floss and vintage pillow cases, hello), Pannikin (the cutest but not too girly accessories on earth) and Paper Boat Press. It's worth visiting the Finders Keepers website and looking up the stall-holders etsy shops to see the awesome stuff that was on display. If you make it in person next year, my top tips are to bring lots of cash (there is an ATM but the line and the fees are stupid high) and be prepared to take a while. There is lots to see and lots of people to try and see around.

Mind you we all love food so this was the perfect spot. There were so many tents lined up and so many different vendors to choose from. It was like super farmer's market compared to what I'm used to at home in Hawai'i. We walked around for bit just eyeing out all the different food. There is definitely something for everyone here. Also, a great place to buy produce and meat. Probably for a cheaper price than you would find in a grocery store. Because we couldn't decide on one food stand we decided to get food from multiple ones lol. We got out drinks from a tea stand. We got liliko'i and mango teas. There was one stand where they were selling breaky sammies for $5 and they were huge! We got one of those and a gian samosa from an Indian vendor. The samosa was almost the size of my hand. Ain't gonna find any samosas like that in Hawai'i unless you make em yourself. We also got pork belly shish kabobs. It was a great experience and so much fun too! If you're ever in Brisbane I recommend going to Rocklea markets. Everyone just seemed so happy and excited even though it was a bit rainy that day. It was also a good place for families. My boyfriend and I will be back next time we're in Brisbane again.

We don't go to Northey Street Markets all that often, but every single time we've been, it's been a delight. Though there are a couple of tight alleys, the markets are small enough that most walkways are at least 2m wide, so you rarely get shoved about (hurrah!). There are often a smaller number of people, probably because of the smaller number of stalls, so you can easily see what's there and get served pretty quickly. The obvious exception are all the grocery stalls, which are usually packed, though they get through everyone pretty quickly. Worth going to just for Raw & Peace; amazing raw burgers, pizza, cake... ah! It's all good. But there are also a number of other interesting stalls there, all of which are worth a look (there was even a Bahn Mi stall one time we went). And, of course, it's in the Northey Street park, so you're under a gorgeous canopy, surrounded by trees, and just a 30 second walk from the creek (and all manner of walking tracks!) Lots of school groups visit and the kids get the opportunity to harvest produce and cook it on site, allowing city kids an opportunity to see how food production works first hand. You can rent an allotment for a nominal fee to grow your own produce, join a community group or just walk around the different gardens to learn new ideas about cultivation and gardening best practice. As you can imagine it is a wonderland for kids of all ages, and sitting down over a chai at the cafe feels like you've stepped back into a simpler, easier time where kids wore felt and played with pipe cleaners and were allowed to stay in the park with their friends until the street lights came on. Locals should also take advantage of the organic markets on Sunday from 6.30am - 10.30am.

Yet somewhere along the time-space continuum my Saturday mornings took a turn towards domesticity and became more about getting up early and getting sh*t done including visiting the markets for fresh fruit and veg. The Village Markets at Kelvin Grove are my preferred market destination. Not because they have the best range of produce (it's good and ample but there are better around) but because even when in peak hour you still feel like you have space to move as you walk up and down the walkway. Other more notorious markets in Brisbane have downsized leaving it near impossible to pass through the walkways without feeling like you're the newest sardine in the tin. Ney, Saturday morning market visits are for leisurely strolls up and down looking at each stall, coffee in hand (preferable from Rooster - formerly Bunker Stand). Once caffeinated take your pick from fresh produce, hand made yoghurts, a bunch of flowers for your beloved or for yourself.
