Lanie delivered the cupcakes to my home the day of my son's birthday party. The cupcakes were exactly what I was looking for. She was so sweet and thoughtful with designing something that my son would love. She even brought extra cupcake toppers which worked out perfect because I had a child attend the party who couldn't eat cupcakes due to an allergy. I will definitely order from Lanie again. I absolutely did not expect a response outside of business hours. The owner, however, chose to respond to my inquiry outside of those hours, provided me with the total price, and I responded that I would like to proceed with the order. After that, I received no response. Over the next three days, I emailed twice--once confirming that I wanted to move forward, and again explaining that I was still waiting for a response and hoped to hear back because I did not want to be forced to find another cake company. I was patient and waited during the business's posted hours for a response. After still receiving no communication, I submitted another inquiry because I needed to make sure I could secure a cake for my daughter's first birthday. Eventually, I left a one-star Google review specifically regarding my experience with the lack of communication. That is when I finally received a response. Rather than addressing my concerns about the lack of communication, I was told that because I had left a one-star review, she would no longer accept my business. The response then focused heavily on her posted business hours and the expectation that customers should not expect responses outside of those hours. The irony is that this response ITSELF was sent outside of the posted business hours--the exact thing I was being lectured about. To be clear, I never expected anyone to respond to me outside of business hours. My issue was that I was given a quote, confirmed that I wanted to proceed, and then received no follow-up during the following business days despite multiple attempts to communicate. I understand that small businesses get busy, and I am always willing to be patient. But communication is especially important when someone is trying to book a custom cake for an important event with a deadline. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled left me feeling that my business was only worth responding to once I publicly expressed my dissatisfaction. I would have much rather had a simple response letting me know whether or not my order could be accommodated. I do have to add, the owners response time since i left a google review has been SPEEDY. After expressing my dissatisfaction the owner has become argumentative. I attached our timeline of communication.. all of which were out of normal business hours, so I just assumed that she replies when she feels like. ? Or only when someone leaves her a negative review. I actually had brought cash with me as I completely forgot that I already paid her the week before on Venmo.
