Lucky me I chose to give this place a try... and boy oh boy was it a disappointment. Other tax services quote me at $70 right off and offer a student discount at $45. MG Business & Tax only charged me $45 when I previously filed with them... $60 at top gun realty in Mira Mesa for BOTH a W-4 and a 1099-misc. This place QUOTED ME AT $120+ for only a 1099-misc to be filed. Wow... seriously. The people here giving 5 stars? Yelp may filter my reviews, but I have 1,400+ Active friends on yelp from my local area and 5,000+ views a week on my blog (which I will repost this) so go ahead and filter this yelp. I emailed them to schedule an appointment, asked about filing my 1099-misc, and briefly mentioned the yelp discount coupon. The ONLY reply from the email was in regards to the coupon and here's what it said, "How much was the coupon for? The reason I ask is because we don't benefit from it since yelp keeps a cut but we can give you a discount for the amount of the coupon." this was before I messaged them on facebook about an appointment. wow... He only lowered the price down to $70 when I mentioned that other tax services (all except this place) was offering $70 as their starting price... AND THEY WERE! There's even a coupon online which quotes $30 for $40 worth of service. I was afraid if I mentioned that coupon I'd be paying some other magical number well above $70. I ended up biting the bullet and paying $70 which I somewhat expected in the first place and not the ridiculous $120+. It's things like this that make me glad that I created "putyouonblast" so that those out there can have a jolly time skipping bullshit rather than muddling in it. Brian was polite, courteous and prompt with the service.
