When I called her about the tax bill...she says "she been doing this many years and she has some health insurance penalties for making too much income" and her husband did my W2 with some 1099. because they didn't income my HSA contribution. The communication is horrible and they don't value your time. Can't even explain anything to my mom what she can and can't write of taxes. I also looked up their CPA license on the California CPA website, Abbie isn't even a CPA and there's no record of her has a CPA license from the California board of accountancy. I don't recommend them for your taxes.

I had a FANTASTIC experience with H & R Block after the office on Avocado Blvd office messed them…read moreup & I got letter from State of Ca showing we owed more. We went to H&R Block this year because we weren't sure what to do with the Stock Option Bonus my husband got. Rachael of Avocado office DIDN'T LISTEN when we showed proof that taxes were taken out. ALWAYS GET PEACE OF MIND @ $40 because H&R Block would have had to pay the $1063 we were being charged. ALWAYS GO to an H&R office that is open year round because we had no recourse with this office. When you call you are routed to another office and we had the displeasure of dealing with Nury, the owner of the office on E Lexington, who refused to redo the taxes and said she was correct; said we owed the $1063 to State AND owed $2090 to Federal as well and, get this, told me to just write a check to Fed and write 2019 taxes on it and send it with nothing else! Anyway, after dealing with the idiots at H&R 800# I finally was told to call a company store and given 2 offices in my area. I ended up speaking with Sandy WHO LISTENED; told me what was done incorrectly over the phone. That day, 12/3/2020 my son dropped off the information and LESS THAN AN HOUR later Sandy called me and had the amendments for BOTH State ($88 owed) and Federal ($635 owed) & would have all paperwork ready for pickup on 12-4-2020 AT NO CHARGE! This is how customers should be handled. LESSONS LEARNED: 1: Always pay for Peace of Mind coverage - Sandy said at her location it is ALWAYS INCLUDED; 2: Go to an office that is open year round so if there is an error you can get it addressed immediately. I am not going to lie, but I was not ever going to H&R Block again after how I was treated by other stores & H&R Block 800# but SANDY SHOWED THAT SHE KNOWS HERE STUFF. We were only going to go for this year, but as I told Sandy, every year I stress over doing my taxes and because I felt that she is good at what she does AND LISTENED I would rather have my taxes done each year by her as I will be done in an hour while someone else takes care of me with little stress. SANDY IS FANTASTIC!!!!

Hate to have to provide this kind of review. Was recommended this company for my taxes by my…read moreparents, who have used them for a couple of years. Couldn't be more disheartened and disappointed in the service I received. I reached out to McRea Woodson asking if they had availability to do my taxes this year and was met with a yes, they had availability. Communication was great, until I paid them my retainer fee. As soon as I paid them, and submitted my information in early February, I spent a month and a half trying to get in contact with them. Sent multiple emails that went unanswered. Some were responded to by just saying "you're on my list to call", not answering any of my inquiries, yet, still never received a call. I was unable to access my portal to upload more information needed for submission so had concerns on how to send them the information needed, I heard nothing back. It's interesting because as mentioned earlier, my parents used them for their taxes as well, so I was able to gauge if they had the same experience. Nope, they turned their information in late yet they still got phone calls and emails and their taxes completed before mine. Once I finally got the notification that my taxes were done, it was 630pm on April 14th and I owed quite a bit. No communication, just a document and what to pay. I called them begging for a call back, and nothing. I ended up owing for the first time ever (which is no fault to them but something I'm keeping in mind). Communication was so bad, I even ended up having to ask my mom to remind them that I still existed and needed help. Did that reminder bother to have them call me? No. I've used other companies in the past and have never had an experience like this. I feel like they could have been okay, had they cared even a little bit about me. Maybe somewhere down the line, I was deemed as someone less significant than other people? Or maybe they viewed me as needy and didn't want to communicate with me because of that? I just wanted to make sure I provided everything that they needed. Either way, it would have been nice to be communicated with and treated with a little more dignity. I don't know their work load or how many customers they had to serve during this hectic time, I don't mind that my taxes weren't completed until the very last second (even though a little more time would have been nice), but it's the lack of communication over something this significant, that can have huge consequences for me, is what really concerns me. Since I never received a phone call back after asking/begging them to call me back, I wasn't able to express this and offer some feedback on their professionalism or business acumen. So this review is what I feel like I'm forced to do since this is my only option as a customer at this point. Be weary in hiring them for your taxes, especially if you're someone who has questions or may need guidance. Communication is minimal at best.
