This place is terrible, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting! Half of the toilets don't flush. The lockers are broke and hanging by their hinges. The sauna hardly ever works and when it does the temperature is not even above 150°. I had an issue with a product I bought from the store front and the manager won't even return my phone call, the staff just says all sales are final. Working out here is like working out in a teenage boys room. No one re-racks their weights, it's one big mess, you have all the teenage boys taking selfies of themselves. Let's grow up a little. The machines are in ill repair and the employees at the front desk are useless when it comes to customer service. The membership fees are gimmicky. 24 hour fitness needs to buy Vasa out because I don't see how this gym gets it together and puts the members first. Many of their lockers are broken. Ok this was an instance that happened today. I called ahead because I saw that there was a sign the last few days in the jacuzzi pool that said " we are aware of the problem and are fixing it" it didnt say " dont get in " so I called and asked if it was working and if I could get in it and she said " oh I don't know" so I said " that's okay I'll call back in 10 min so you can go check it out no problem " .... ....... 10 min passed and I called and i asked " bey i was the one earlier that called ..so am i allowed to get into the small pool?" . She replied with " well its called a jacuzzi and yeah you can" so I was like... "cool". ( keep in mind that I come here to this gym BECAUSE OF THE " JACUZZI" as it helps my muscles after working out) I came down from work and I went back and it still had the sign - weird- And I was like...hmmm I'll go ask just to double so I went back to the same girl on the phone and asked and she said " oh I didnt know that sign was there i didnt check" .... ..... ....... So you lied to and customer on the phone for one... Who wasted her time driving all the way here because you said it was working... I explained to her that I asked on the phone and she said " oh I thought you meant the sauna" Biiii I legit said the pool and you corrected me being quite rude and said " its called a jacuzzi" dont give me that... She explained she was the only one here. ( as a woman and man who also worked there were right behind her. One walked right by her hahaa. The woman was blonde with shoulder length hair and looked like a 19 year old. I asked if she could go ask someone who DID know and she said " no". Haha GIRL! This is not how you treat customers at the front desk! What the actual crap. I would happily take her job if you need people who are knowledgeable and actually know answers and care about customers and dont lie and waste people's times.... im going to attach a video clearly showing shes NOT the only one working and could have asked. I wouldn't have even taken a photo but I wanted to show and prove that she WASNT the only one here... there is a man and another woman who is higher up. I do plan on asking them when I go back down but I had to walk away because it was extremely angering and very uncomfortable because she clearly just didnt care and lacked 'know how' and didnt even try to help. Very nice and updated gym but on the smaller side. For the area, there are so many people coming here it gets over crowded very quickly. The cardio machines are limited and I've had to wait for a treadmill. The staff are iffy. Not that I need them but they've never been very friendly towards me and always seem to be caught up in their own conversations amongst themselves. read more

My gym, Planet Fitness closed its doors this month so I've been looking for a new gym. After reading many of these reviews, I had decided against joining Vasa. But decided to give it a try this morning with a free, 3 day trial. And I'm so glad I did! This gym is amazing! Every piece of equipment I used was in pristine condition and the locker room was so clean! The floor plan is awesome, I love how the cardio machines are upstairs. My only question is why did I stay at Planet Fitness all these years when Vasa was just down the street? The front desk people were great and welcoming. I immediately signed up with my own Vasa Gym membership on my way out the door. This place is truly great! read more

They cut their kidcare without notifying anyone, then continued to charge me for it and never properly waived the fees. When I talked to member services about the issue I was double charged and told I would get no reimbursement because "they can do that because you signed their contract." I'm sorry, what?? Having gone to several locations in the Clinton, Brickyard, and West Valley, so far the Bountiful location might be my preferred location. While it certainly has its peak busy hours, it's never too crowded that you can't find equipment to work on (even if folks tend to hog the free weights), and there's a nice variety of machines and weights to use at your disposal. Bathroom lockers are a bit of a disappointment, and I have noticed on separate occasions there are often units that have loose deadbolts that prevent them from staying locked even with a lock, so make sure you check before you store any of your stuff there. read more

Stay away! This gym is completely incompetent and constantly hits your credit card with unexpected charges - they claim that they will charge you one price and then hit you with a much higher one (or two!). You will be charged so many hidden fees; it is such a dishonest business practice that I cannot believe they can get away with it legally. I mainly use this gym for their steam room, as no other local gyms seem to have them. Their locker rooms are run down and often dirty and run out of TP. Their changing rooms do not lock and the wooden doors are warped, so they won't close. Overall, I was fine overlooking this because supposedly I would be able to pay a small fee in order to use the bare bones - sauna and steam. I was wrong. I originally was paying the Premier membership so that I could take their fitness classes. I was not using that, so asked to downgrade to their $9.99 a month plan. I did this 8 days after just being charged full price (over $40) for the Premier membership. Obviously I assumed that I would be able to use my Premier membership until the next billing cycle since I had just paid full price for that, and then I would be automatically downgraded to the Basic $9.99 a month option. That would be too logical apparently; the employee told me that I was now downgraded immediately and would be charged the $9.99 on the spot (this turned out to be incorrect) but as of now my membership was downgraded despite having just been charged the most expensive option barely a week ago! I told the employee that this made no sense and he said I'd have to "email corporate" to fix it because he did not know how to do it on his computer system. Then I asked why I could not change the plan myself in my app and he said my home gym was actually another gym in his computer system, despite the VASA app clearly showing Bountiful as my home gym location. He told me there was "nothing he could do" and I'd have to pay yet another fee of $25 to change it. I had to email back and forth with corporate support for over a week to figure out the error on their end over which gym location was my home gym. After over a week of back and forth emails, corporate supposedly sorted things and I was told that everything was fine - I was not charged on the spot for the Basic membership and I would not have to pay a $25 home gym change fee. I had originally decided to cancel my VASA account but thought, corporate seemed to have resolved my issue (albeit over a long period of time), so why not give VASA another chance since I enjoyed the sauna and steam (literally the only thing I used the gym for). I canceled my cancellation 24 hours before it was set to expire and I explicitly wrote in my email that I wanted to reactive my $9.99 a month membership. This turned out to be a mistake on my end. I checked my bank account today and now see two charges on my account for a total of $85! What?! I asked to reactivate my account BEFORE it expired, so not sure what these charges are for. I immediately emailed corporate support and am waiting to hear back. Of course, there is no option to remove my credit card from the VASA app, so I will have to take the time to drive over to my bank to either cancel my card or see if this vendor can be blocked from future transaction - I no longer trust VASA at all. We'll see if they refund me - if they do not, I will be disputing the charges. DO NOT trust this gym with your money - they are either completely inept or are liars who will overcharge you and take days to respond to your concerns. Their gym is dirty and run down. Their staff seems untrained. Save yourself the headache and wasted time of repeated overcharges and hidden fees and go somewhere else. read more

Great gym, classes and equipment. The 2 stars is just a reminder to gyms to stop with the silly billing tactics (e.g. tricks). This gym is reasonably priced but there's a yearly "Rate Guarantee Fee" of $49. Here's how the geniuses in their marketing department describe it: "You don't want your dues to increase, right? Well we don't either, pay this fee annually and you are covered!" Makes it sound optional to lock in a great rate that never increases, right? It's not optional. So the price is $4 more per month (averaged) than advertised. I don't mind paying $4 more a month but I do take offense at being treated like a moron who can't do basic math and understand that there's an annual membership fee of $49 with a silly name. The gym industry seems to be one of the last to understand the concept of authenticity - and how consumers appreciate it. You don't need to treat us like you're a sleazy 1980's used car salesman. We will still buy your product. It's 2019. Do better. read more

Foruntely for Vasa this is not the grossest of all the Vasa's. That award goes to Murray on Van Winkle. However the bar has been set pretty low. This place is always beyond packed. Come here between 4-6:30 and there literally isn't an open machine to be found. It boggles my mind why people come at all. It's mostly just sitting and waiting. Many times there is a group of a couple people that have a monopoly on a few machines they don't even use but sit there and chat. Upstairs there is a solid selection of treads and bikes which is a positive. The locker rooms are actually not too bad. I don't get athletes foot just from stepping foot in them like some other Vasa gyms. But for the price you pay I guess this is what a $10 a month gym looks like. 3 stars is more than favorable. read more

They charged me my yearly fee and my monthly fee yesterday before I knew I got the internship. They would not refund me the $50 membership fee or my monthly $13 fee even though I won't be working out at all over this pay period. I just lost all respect for this gym. Stay away! read more

I recently switched from the best gym ever (Xcel in Murray) to this VASA and I must say that I'm not impressed at all. What a mess! I've heard it's busy from 5-7, so I've been showing up around 7. It's still packed! Dumbbells from 10-25 pounds are nowhere to be found... so unless you want 5's or 30+ you're screwed. Equipment is scattered everywhere. There's only one place to do deadlifts (ughh, seriously - this is my BIGGEST gripe!). I get a discount through my work so I have access to all VASA's for $17 a month and the yearly fee is supposed to only be $10 instead of $40 (we will see once I'm actually billed). The first time I came in was on a Saturday and the staff was sooo friendly! The last couple times the staff at the front desk have been damn near intolerable. It's like somebody is forcing them to work there and put up with all the gym-goers. I'm still going to endure this location longer. Hopefully it grows on me since it's the most convenient and the price is right. My fingers are crossed that in a couple of weeks I will be updating my review since maybe it's just been an off week for the gym. If you don't see an update, assume it still sucks. I will say that the gym goers here have actually been fairly friendly, but still keep to themselves. A few grunts here and there. Many seem willing to let you work in on a machine if needed. And most are in shape or seem to have a decent knowledge of basic fitness. So that part is cool. read more

Mainly local hicks playing on their phones and talking on their phones while sitting on equipment you need. They stay there for a long time too. Also many people with absolutely no clue about wiping anything down or putting anything away. Most people wipe things down, but certainly not everyone. People who don't put things away are probably a little more common. The people using their phones make up a really significant problem. The offenders aren't exclusively local (having grown up here), but do seem to be mainly local. This gym really, really needs more leg extension machines. This is largely due to the problem with people on phones. People will sit on the two leg extension machines for twenty or thirty minutes, doing nothing useful or helpful at all. You can manage to have a decent workout here. But you will deal with these issued. You should definitely plan to do other things while someone is on something you need, producing only screen time. While you're doing whatever else you do while you wait for that person to stop looking at Youtube videos or texting and actually do something, there will probably be someone next to you talking very loudly on a phone or to a boyfriend or girlfriend. read more

The issues i've had here have all been about money. All my friends and I have had several random charges that we've needed to go in for, and one time my friend wanted to cancel and they made it a long and painful process. they tried making her feel bad for canceling as well. They do have a lot of nice equipment and other fun things like tanning and a sauna if you pay for the right (and even more expensive) plan. I've also had a worker make me wait for her assistance while she flirted with a guy and even laughed at me and said it was "awkward". it wasn't pleasant. read more

This gym sucks. They remodeled it, so now half the gym is astro turf and "functional" training (which is always fairly empty and under utilized). Meanwhile, the weights and equipment are cramped and sorely lacking. They don't have enough bars for their benches, which means there is almost always a backup. The gym has the least complete set of weights of any gym I've ever been too. It's nearly impossible to have a good workout. I've been to gyms where you need to avoid "rush hour" times. But at this gym, "rush hour" is nearly the full day because of the severe lack of equipment. With just a couple thousand bucks they could improve this gym so much, but they obviously don't care about their patrons. read more

It turns out when you pay cash at the front desk and take them your receipt no one passes that information on to paramount, so when you plan to end your pass with Vasa you can expect to pay for all child care again!! I recently moved from Ogden. I must say, I do prefer the Ogden location. Not only does the Bountiful location have less selection when it comes to machines/equipment, but it's also harder to find the machines I typically use. The way the equipment is placed at this location just feels disorganized. Everything just feels crowded, which is probably due to the size of the gym. It's definitely smaller and it doesn't feel as "open" as the Ogden location. I've been my usual twice a week since I moved, and I still feel lost whenever I go. It's hard for me to want to ask the staff for any kind of assistance because they all just seem so unapproachable. I'm sure that greeting guests, smiling, and telling them to "Have a good workout!" (or something similar) would go a long way. However, the women's locker room/bathroom is very nice! Always clean with no stink, good lighting and a nice layout. Overall, I don't find it as terrible as other people seem to. I just think I'd like it better if the staff was friendlier/approachable and the equipment was better organized. read more

My wife and i signed up for vasa a couple months ago. After not being pleased with our experience we decided to cancel our memberships. We had shared our problems with management and voiced our dislike with the services we were paying for. After paying the yearly 40 dollars each and our monthly fee we decided to end our membership since no-one seemed to care about our complaints. Even after we had so many problems and management was aware they were very quick to cancel our memberships and charge their cancellation fees. Yes Month to Month still has cancelation fees. I would expect better from a business. If i have an unhappy customer the last thing i would do is charge them all i can and shove them out the door. Overall terrible business model and real lack of customer service. Dont wast your money here. Find a gym that cares about its customers and not their money!! read more

Fees on Fees on Fees on Fees.. Signed up for $1 down and $9.99 a month plan. No contract. Checking how much they have been charging me, it looks like its $21.30. I recently got a new chip enabled credit card. Pretty cool right? Well Vasa can't' bill me anymore, so has been charging me an additional $25 on my fees. They refuse to take the $25 fees off. I'm not sure why they couldn't call me to tell me that they have been having problems with this... Probably because its more profitable to throw fees at me... I'm a little surprised I have to give them a new number (I understand my credit card number is new, but this isn't the first time getting a new card... This has been the first time I had to give them a new number). I went into Vasa to figure this out. They can't do anything to take the 2x $25 fee off. Its corporate now, which they won't allow the manager to over ride the system to take these BS fees off (so they say). I just got off the phone after waiting for 15 minutes to contact anyone. It transferred me after that 15 minutes to a phone that no one answered. I left a message, but I doubt I'll hear from them. Why would they want to take care of me right? If they drag their feet for 6 more days, they can charge me for another month! I tried calling yesterday, no luck. I'm starting to see a pattern here... They also told me there will be another $25 fee to get out of my contract. There is also a $42.63 annual fee for BS thing I don't understand. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AN ACCOUNT. Vasa Fitness will screw you over if you don't meticulously monitor your bank account! I signed up for an account on April 30th (filled in all my information and billing info as well). Apparently my payments weren't processing correctly, but nobody said a word. I went to the gym periodically and scanned my barcode at the front desk (which pulls up your account info so they would know if there was an issue) and still no one that worked there notified me. No emails. No phone calls. Nothing. I finally got a phone call in JULY saying I owed them $140 -even though I was on the $20 per month plan and my payments didn't go through for only 3 months (that's like $60)- I waited to pay it because I was switching banks and didn't have my info yet (which I told them repeatedly) and they sent me to collections saying I had to pay $230, and if I didn't pay it they would hurt my credit score. I asked if I could talk to someone who could help me (since this was 100% their fault and I would have taken care of my payments had I known they weren't going through) and they told me it wasn't possible to get any help and/or reimbursement. I have never felt as uninformed and unimportant as I have here at Vasa Fitness. They are dishonest, and uncooperative and they do not care about the well being of their loyal paying customers. To sign up for an account would be a RIDICULOUS mistake. read more

This isn't the best gym I've been to and it isn't the worse. It's right about in the middle. I sent a letter to their management a few weeks ago because the place was in disarray. It seemed like no one was really caring about the condition. One thing I've noticed is the manager who was there when it was Gold's, who sold us our membership, is no longer there. If they've had a major management shift, that might explain it. They did get right on my suggestions which I give them credit for. A few things of note: The bathrooms could definitely be cleaner and the stall doors just look disgusting. The soap dispensers and many of the equipment wipe dispensers are broken and falling off the walls. They have a TON of equipment. I've never not been able to use the equipment that I want. With that said, it's sometimes hard to find plates and the members leave the equipment sweaty and gross. Some of the cardio equipment is in need of refurbishment. The cardio theater is AWESOME! Rarely more than 3 people in there and it's a great area to really get some great cardio in. The ab area upstairs is really small so sometimes I'll have to find a place to do floor work. The place does have an "interesting" odor and they don't keep the gym cool enough in my opinion. Usually, when I walk into a gym it's freezing which is great. This place isn't. The kids club is awesome and my daughter loves it. The women who work in there are fantastic, loving and gentle with the kids. That's a MAJOR plus in my opinion. Plus, it's rather inexpensive. What I don't like about the kids club is it isn't a family membership - if both mom & dad want to be able to drop off the kids, they both have to pay monthly for the kids club. The classes are great but get there early. I don't appreciate how packed they get as there isn't much space.I also think they need to get up to date with some of the newer type classes like Barre, etc. The spinning classes I've done have been great as well and they have great quality bikes. I feel that their main problems are their customer care and maintaining the gym. There isn't always someone at the front desk greeting people. Personally, I feel that's a HUGE problem with any business as your customers' first point of contact is critical to them having a great experience. When I joined, I thought this was going to me more of a premium gym but it has turned out to be a "low-cost" competitor. That means they're more focused on packing people in rather than delivering a high-level experience. I'd rather pay more and have a great, clean up to date gym. read more

In general I like this chain of Gyms but this location always has something wrong with it. Either there is no hot water or the Jacuzzi is empty or the Sauna doesn't work. They are also always doing remodeling and they don't do it during their of hours, they do it while the gym is full of people working out. I wish there was somewhere else better to go but even with all of these complaints it's still the best gym in bountiful 2 weeks later and still no improvements Now they changed are starting to take place with a new maintenance guy. My husband won't let me go to this location anymore. The building is old, has a smell and gave him a terrible headache. Mold or bad air quality is a concern. It's too bad because the daycare staff is great and it's less busy than the Layton location. Definitely needs a corporate approved full gut and remodel. The machines are close to my age. The area could use more locations. If they opened one in centerville or Farmington they could remodel this one. Love going here for all the restaurants and shopping after working out. Also a big concern is the floor being very slippery around the 1990s equipment. read more
