Avoid this guy like the plague! We made the rookie mistake of not checking reviews before hiring Dave Varley. He has changed business names so beware. We paid him $4200 to refinish two levels of old maple floors and replace some rotten water-damaged boards. His wood replacement work was crooked and leaving gaps. He left some rotten and water-stained boards. He did not fill holes and gaps with any filler. He left many deep circular scratches all over the floor. He left corners and areas near radiators completely unsanded. He then put the finish coats over sand, dirt, lint, and even leaves! We had to pay another professional $2000 just to lightly sand the dirt out and recoat for a smooth, even finish. But the scratches and unsanded areas remain an eye-sore. To fix it properly by a real professional (resand back to bare wood) would be another $5300!
