They also prove to have a "no bullying policy" but they don't seem to up stand it or actually protect students from bullying. Some teachers also yell at your for stuff your not doing. Also I've seen students get sent to reset (in school suspension) for no reason. This school is the worst academic decision I've ever made of choosing this middle school. There are also fights everyday and disrespectful students and staff. There also had been circumstances where you can see clear favoritism. I also feel you can't trust your school counselors to actually want to open up about your feelings. I hate this school and don't recommend anyone to choose Elko for their middle school.

I attended the Elko Middle School final Girl's basketball game against Moody Middle School. Elko's students, staff, coaches and parents acted in such an unbecoming manner. It was truly disheartening. The parents who are supposed to instill better values, being the worse of the bunch, to the point Elko received a technical and they escorted a grandmother from the gym for dancing on the court. As parents, grandparents, family member's they should be ashamed, what are they/we teaching these teens. One always has distaste for the ref's/ump's, but everyone says their peace and moves on...sometimes we forget their only human. But to see the parents encourage their kids to disregard the sportsmanship code, to act as it's ok to push and shove the other team around in a "bullying" manner, total disgrace. The school staff/administrators and coaches standing by watching it happen and not saying a word until the ref's encouraged them too. Shame on you Elko, these are kids, all of them, both sides. Your instilling hate on both sides, why is that ok with you? It's no wonder things in the "grown-up" world are scary for these kids. Everyone around them, who are supposed to protect them, are constantly letting them down. Now, all these kids, visiting parents and family members will remember about your school is just how "ugly" and hateful you are to anyone who visits your school!!! this wasn't friendly rivalry or competition this was truly shameful. What a letdown Elko, what a letdown :(

The food quality was very poor and unhealthy which is not a reflection of the cafeteria staff, but rather poor funding from the county.

This school is huge!…read more It is so large it reminded me of a hospital. Very upscale here and I love it! I attended the school's gym a week ago to root on our Bulldogs. But they fell short at the end. You would think, one would enter in the front of the school to attend the basketball game. But there was another entrance about a mile around the school where we needed to enter. Instead of walking in the cold, we drove around to bus ramp area and this is where the gym is located. The gym here is pretty large it definitely accommodated the large crowd on a weeknight... Varina vs Kings Fork... a rematch from last year. The Bulldogs fell short again! I am not sure if the concession stand was open because when we arrived it wasn't. As a result, minus one star. If the stand did open, they must not have offered a lot because I did not see one nacho, one hotdog... nothing... bummed! Plenty of parking. Check it out if you are in the area. It's massive.
