Frustrating af! I came here for PT on my neck in June. A week later I broke my elbow and came here for that. Complaint #1 - they would not treat both at the same time. They said I could come back for my neck after my elbow. Complaint #2 - I returned for an appointment for my neck about two months after my last appointment for it and they refused to treat me for it saying my prescription had expired. Complaint #3 - they said I could call my doctors office knowing it's already Friday at 4:00pm (office is closed). Complaint #4 - They could have told me this over the phone when I made this appointment. They didn't apologize for that. Zero respect for my time. Complaint #5 - they said my last appointment should never have happened for the same reason. WTF?!? Complaint #6 - they said all they can do is reschedule. Hello? Did they not just say I need a new RX first?? Stupid on all levels. And the PT is just ok. I told them I'd rather go anywhere else. read more

I went to 3 appointments and they didn't really spend much time with me compared to my last PT, they also had a student do the work of a PT. I needed more visits approved and been waiting for over a week and they said to call my insurance, which I did they never put in a request. I went back to my old PT and the same day I got my referral. They are not organized at all. read more

I have been to quite a few physical therapy offices and I must say I'm extremely impressed with Vargo. The staff treats me in a very friendly way, they're attentive and assist in any way possible. 2 months to get an appointment. People come here because they're in pain. 2 months is too long for someone to wait to get seen for pain issues. Unacceptable wait time. Also upsetting that I waited almost 10 minutes on hold to be told that. Canyon Country got me in right away last year but the therapists were talking smack about other therapists not there that day. Requesting another company for PT. Hot mess at Vargo all around it seems. Edit to add: got to switch PT providers and the new place has me down for next Tuesday. I told her about the 2 month wait and she laughed and so "oh no, not here." Thank goodness! Edit to add...I "hung up" because she started giving excuses why they had such a long wait for appointments. You clearly heard the call and so you would have heard me ask if that really was the case a few times and she said yes and then started saying why. So I said okay, thank you! bye' and ended the conversation. No attempts to be helpful at all just excuses. And just more excuses from Bob. Just take the hit and do better next time. read more

There are some really good therapists here. A big shout out to Eric. Overall, the consistency of care is missing here. I saw 7 different physical therapists in less than 5 weeks. They have a lot of younger assistants helping with exercises and some of them don't even remember what body part was injured. It became very frustrating and time consuming for me to have to keep reminding all the different people what i needed. I highly recommend checking out Henry Mayo PT I went for my first post op visit today and the therapist spent 45 min with me vs at Vargo I got maybe 10-15 min from the therapist. I felt like a number and wasn't willing to take the risk of having my post op PT here. read more

Dr. Eric and his team are so phenomenal. In an effort to avoid back surgery for herniated & buldged disks, I tried physical therapy. After just a few sessions my back pain was tremendously reduced. Within about 3 months I was able to resume normal activities. I'm so grateful that I was able to avoid surgery. Ok, Bob. That other family member and I were discussing whether or not it was even worth it to bring him to his last session with you. She was the one that found another place to take him to. Before addressing your response, let me tell all other potential patients that you can fairly easily find another place where you can have all or nearly all your therapy done with an actual PT ONE-ON-ONE. Just ask your insurance to send you a list of PTs in your area, call each one, and ask how much time they get with the PT vs a PT aide (if any). REWARDING BUSINESS MODELS LIKE VARGO ONLY ENCOURAGES MORE "PROFIT-OVER-PATIENT" BUSINESSES LIKE THEM. Bob, you can say all the niceties that sound good on paper but they don't mean a thing when your business model doesn't allow quality care. You addressed none of this in your response. I would be willing to bet that you have an incredibly high turnover rate because of it. There are other REAL reviews that reveal this is not the first time this had been pointed out to you. So I doubt you will change at this point. You said all of his goals were met? I can assure you they haven't and he is continuing PT elsewhere where he works with a PT the whole time, no aides. We like your staff, it is not their fault that you have a business model of passing off the bulk of the work to aides instead of a PT. We were there one day for nearly 2 hours and 15 minutes because there were more patients than the PTs/ aides could handle. The majority of the time, we were just waiting for someone to come to start him on the next exercise. You are overscheduling and overworking your staff if demand calls for it. And making patients wait too long with not enough attention. And if you don't see that as a manager...ugh! Aides are great and can be used very effectively if used minimally and appropriately. If the average adult understands the basics of some exercises, they can be left to do it. But the elderly with dementia, kids, etc need more care. read more

I received therapy for a shoulder impingement. The Vargo staff is incredible, very personable, efficient and skilled. Everyone is called by their first name, and the staff work together to work through each person's regimen. I was given a set of exercises to do at home, and after meeting 3 times my pain was reduced and my range of motion was restored. After 4 weeks my pain is gone and my shoulder is back to normal. read more

Went there for lower back pain. They did their assessment and created a plan. The second visit a new PT re-evaluated me for unknown reasons even though a prev PT had seen me. Every visit was with a new PT and it was a huge waste of time for them to ask me the same questions. I was doing all the exercises but my back was getting WORSE with their manipulations. I told them every visit that my back feels worse and they said that was the process. I really had high hopes for Vargo, but I am sadly disappointed. My back feels better now after I stopped going to them and stopped doing their exercises. I was never seen by a Physiatrist (sport med doctor) and never had a working diagnosis other than lower back pain. I have been told since that it is very dangerous for them to be working on a back that they don't know if there is a herniated disc, cracked vertebrae or some other diagnosis. I'm assuming that this ignorance was why the Vargo team made my back worse. And to add INSULT to injury, every visit I went there they told me my copay was zero and then after 6 weeks of "therapy" they sent me a huge bill saying they were wrong and I owed them over 100$. I would have stopped going to them after 3 weeks if I had known it was going to be so expensive for NEGATIVE results. Their billing department is awful. read more

The people there are nice. I'm giving them a low review for one reason. We all have busy schedules. I show up at least 10 minutes early to my appointments and wait 10-15 minutes to be seen. That's fine. I get it. But I'm 15 minutes late one time after calling ahead; I wait three minutes for the kind person behind the desk to get off the phone; then she informs me I'm over the 15 minute late time-frame and they cannot see me. What happened to customer service? This place is fine if you have extra time and don't mind a place with a low value on customer service. read more

I have been going to Vargo Physical Therapy for over 15 years, for PT for a shoulder, a hand, and foot surgery. They are a very professionally-run operation, and extremely efficient. You could tell he is really passionate about his profession and did a great job of finding my "weak areas" with out me having to telling him where they were. I have been to other PT offices where they just stumble through and give you cookie cutter exercises without getting to know you as a patient and what your goals are with Physical Therapy. Vargo on McBean is the place to go. I needed fresh eyes on my therapy after two previous surgeries and Ken certainly gave that to me. His knowledge is endless. All the P.T.'s chime in if they notice me doing an exercise incorrectly, which means the world to me, it's very easy to keep doing the routine and not realize you are making mistakes. All of them word things in a different way that is very helpful, Eric, Kelsey,and Arpi have all impacted my improvement. I am forever grateful. I was sent to Vargo by an orthopedic doctor for a torn rotator cuff. In all the PT I've ever had, this team is the best by far. The owner has assembled an excellent staff who work well together and move with purpose, but never make you feel rushed. By getting to consult with whomever is available, I not only get the finessed expertise each one has to offer, but also get served quickly and efficiently. Every time. Every staff member has been helpful in their explanations of my injury and how to recover from it. They call me by name, a nice touch, and the reception staff is also efficient and friendly. I've been coming here for about 6 months and I hate it! The PT Aides, which do most of the work as far as helping you with different exercises are rude and inconsiderate, no one is paying attention and they stand around a lot joking with each other. This is difficult because you have to try to get their attention in order for them to help you on to the next exercise. The therapist themselves are helpful but I feel like they just go through the motions. read more

I had been going to Vargo in Valencia for physical therapy for my foot following surgery last summer. Although the therapists tried their best, it didn't help much due to my condition. But one of the lead therapists was very judgmental of me by her demeanor with me. She is always nice to the spanish-speaking clients but with me, just by her questions about where I live and what I do, made me feel that I was being judged. This same therapist would always whisper in the ear of her assistant that I knew she was talking about me. Not good business. Next, every time I would show up for my appointment, I was told by the people at the front desk that there was no co-pay due or, that I would not get billed later. Then in January out of nowhere I receive a bill for a $100.00! Money is tight these days and then to be hit with a surprise bill is not good business. Lastly, I was given an appointment card with the name of someone else! When I brought it to their attention, I was told that it is an error, a "typo". That is very insulting that they cannot even get my name right as if they don't care about what their client's name is. Not good business. read more

I went for 3 visits after FULL Hip replacement surgery everything was fine until they told me I needed more treatment and would put in request and notify me when approved well I'm STILL WAITING for that call this was way back in July 2016 they told me this I had chosen them because of problems with further injuries caused by SCV Physical Therapy Services and now my crappy HMO insurance is trying send me back to SCV Therapy Services despite my objections and repeated request to return to Henry Mayo Outpatient Physical Therapy I've been told if you want services from Vargo that YOU the patient have to stay on top of them and constantly call them until they respond this is very UN-RESPONSIBLE business practice I would NOT recommend this place unless you have time to deal with their unprofessionalism read more

Nonetheless, and sadly, Vargo's billing/accounting apparently has little headroom to manage accounts timely/successfully. I really wanted to give no stars for that place. I had a knee 'minor' injury in the gym a few years ago. I went to the dr thinking that I should have surgery done. The Dr told me that my knee was perfectly fine and that all I needed was some physical therapy. I picked that place because it was very close to where I live and I wanted to commit. After the first couple of times I was very pleased by how their staff were friendly but unfortunately friendliness does not recover injuries. Their staff need to be more trained. One of the therapists decided to use a tool called astym on my knee, it tears down scar tissue built as a result of the injury so that the knee can retain its flexibility. I think because he's not really trained with how to use it, he overdid it. My knee became swollen and had blue bruising. When I went back for the next session I asked them not to use that tool again and I think they kept a note in my file . The following time, one of the therapist, who also looked inexperienced tried to convince me that she needs to use this tool again because it's beneficial. I got the same swelling and blue discoloration again but this time my knee made a cracking sound and never came back to normal. I work as a pharmacist and I stand for too long and I always get knee pain while standing because of how they messed up my knee. Now my advice to you guys, please don't take physical therapy lightly, you need to be with a trained therapist to get good results and not get more injuries. And my advise to Vargo physical therapy: 1) You need to train your staff so that they don't injure the patients more 2) Each therapist needs to read the patients notes written in their files prior to meeting with the patient and to communicate with the therapist that was treating the patient the previous time 3) Your patients deserve to be treated with care and not treated like objects just to collect money from them and their insurances without paying attention to the details required and the do's and don'ts in each patients case. 4) Be responsible because careless and ignorant mistakes can cause permanent injuries I hope my message was clear enough! read more

Vargo Physical Therapy is the best. I had a bad break in my wrist. This group has highly organized, professional staff that work as a tem. Everyone is friendly and I have never had to wait to be seen. Ken has been a blessing. He shows a high degree of sensitivity and understanding of one's injury and related trauma experience. He is someone that explains why there is pain, can trigger the pain sites and explain his rationale for mode of therapy. He makes reference to treatment plan and follows the goals/ objectives. is encouraging, engaging, savvy and has a great sense of humor. Ken gives physical therapy a good name. read more

This is the 2nd time I've had to utilize Vargo PT. First time was for rehab after knee surgery, this time for shoulder pain. They are very knowledgeable and attentive. I've been to other therapists at a different group and Vargo is by far the better choice. They work with you through your injury and rehab and adjust the therapy based on your needs. I also like that they actually stretch and massage you when needed, something my other therapists rarely did. Yes they do tag team you when you are there with other therapists and assistants helping out. But I find this helps the time go by faster and lets you meet all the staff, who are all helpful. While all the staff is very good, a special shout out to Erik and Ken, both of whom have worked on me. The best review I can give is that my knee is feeling good and I'm on my way with my shoulder. read more
