Rabbit-shaped pizza

This is a pretty central Vapiano location in Helsinki. If you've been to a Vapiano place before, you know how it works. You get a card when you go in for the first time, everything you buy gets charged on the card, and you pay the balance when you leave. The restaurant has sections (like a cafeteria) and there are lines waiting for one cook at a time. The lines here can get pretty long, my friend and I waited almost an hour in the pasta line, which is pretty atrocious. Other locations have been nowhere near this bad. The wait was alright for us, because we weren't very hungry and had plenty to talk about, but don't go here if you're really hungry and want food immediately. The pizza line (very last line in the far corner) had no one. I was able to order my pizza within 5 minutes and get it in 10 more. The pizza guy was even nice enough to make my pizza in the shape of a rabbit! TDLR: The food is good but wait times are long here.

This is a chain, but I like it, made to order all dishes, a lot of people come here o pick up dinner. You get a credit card type card when you come in and you walk to various stations (pasta, pizza, risotto) and they charge the amount on the card, then you can go and get a drink at the bar and at the end of the evening you pay the amount on the card as you walk out. I have tried this place in Paris and it was as good as here.

We visited Helsinki, Finland for the day and had dinner at Vapiano's, an Italian Restaurant. As an American Tourist, it can be a bit confusing to order and eat there. When you first go in, the hostess issues you a card (like a credit card ) then you go to the station that has the food you want (Pasta, Pizza, etc.) . Then you stand in line and order. You are given a buzzer that alerts you when order is ready. You pay at the end. I can t think of a similiar type of restaurant at home to compare it to. It seems to be based in an Honor System, as its so busy that a dishonest person could slip out pretty easily without paying. The pizaa was Delicious!

Visiting Helsinki for the day. One of the few places to be open late at night near the central square so we went in. The food are made to ordered. It was pretty good. I was really hungry and finished everything. I got the scampi e spinach pasta while my sister goy insalata reef n beef. They were good!

Karl Fazer Café

A very fitting city for having coffee with desserts and snacks - 2 of 2…read more Fazer, or Karl Fazer, is one of the best known coffeehouse and dessert places in the Finnish capital. It appears there might be more than one location, with a few being almost too close to each other. I was trying to figure out which one is the main location. Once you find it, you will know that this is the feather in the cap of the Fazer brand. This Fazer coffeehouse is not just about getting something warm to drink and eat. It's an experience. This is a large Art Deco cafe' where they didn't skimp on decking out the exterior and the interior to be true to the genre and, of the places to sit, I wound up seating under a slightly domed glass ceiling that was beautiful, so it was no wonder I gravitated toward that part of the interior. They sell coffee, tea, and cakes, but also have sandwiches, chocolate, candy, and more. There are more bins and shelves with goods than you'd expect in a coffeehouse. They were slightly crowded a little later in the evening, but not excessively so. The service here was a little more curt than that at Roasberg, but they got the job done. I had a slice of berry flavored cake and a cup of decaf coffee since it was a little later in the evening. As soon as I saw Fazer's exterior and went inside, I knew that it would be a little more expensive. It's your job to restrain yourself and not treat it like a restaurant with a series of courses, instead opting for a hot drink and something sweet or savory. If the service was a little more upbeat and the prices were slightly more reasonable, it would get 5 stars from me. However, with what I drank and ate being good and with this being such a unique experience, it easily gets 4 stars. I'd gladly return if in this city again and I recommend visiting this landmark coffeehouse.

Very cute and modern looking cafe. Seating inside and outdoors available…read more Only a short walk from Hotel Arthur, Scandic Red, and the subway station. When you walk in you are greeted by a display case that shows an array of parties and cake slices. Staff was very friendly. I didn't spend much time browsing as I only had my eye on the prize- passion fruit cheesecake! Unlike an American style cheesecake, this had the texture of a mousse with a thin crust. The passion fruit flavor was lovely and a real treat. Can't wait to go back and try more items.

If you are looking for a nice cafe to hang out in Helsinki then this is the place to go. I have…read moretried a lot of cafes around here and this is by far on the top of my list. Not only are the owners and the baristas extremely nice, helpful and friendly, but the whole atmosphere is. It doesn't get too loud or feel too crowded ever, since the space is big and the ceilings are high. They have decorated the place beautifully with large plants and stylish furniture. Their coffee is great! Cappuccinos and lattes are always professionally made and their espresso is very good. It is also not expensive compared to most of Helsinki. Their pastries, cakes and sandwiches are very good and they definitely put a lot of thought into the stuff they offer. They offer a breakfast special in the morning, including a very traditional nordic oatmeal, with coffee and juice and it's very nice. You can also choose yogurt (and vegan yogurt!) instead of the oatmeal. Very nice! At lunchtime they offer a great lunchbuffet. It's a bit pricey but I bet it's worth it cause the food looks very good. All in all, I would say this place is very vegan friendly! They always have one vegan sandwich, and most of the time they offer some type of vegan pastry, like a vegan munkki or korvapuusti (donut and cinnamon roll). They have Oatly for the coffee of course. They also have ice cream that with vegan flavors.

The cakes are so great and the coffee is up to scratch! The cafe lattes seem to be their specialty…read more Cakes include macarons and a Finnish version of the Cronut. I tried a chocolate mouse cake. The decor is light and minimal. I came in the afternoon and there didn't seem to be any substantial food offerings besides salads and bread. A nice place to meet friends or work acquaintances for coffee.
