They saw me on time, Wendy explained the procedure to me thoroughly, and then she and Dr. Thurmond performed it quickly and efficiently while talking me through the whole time and checking in with me throughout. I teach communication skills to health care providers as part of my day job, so I'm pretty picky about this sort of thing. They get an A+ from me (and that's not a grade I often give out!)

My doctor sent over an order for an MRI on my feet -- those feet really hurt! -- and I had to wait…read moreover a month to get in. When they called me the week before to remind me of my appointment, they'd only scheduled me for ONE foot even though the referral was clearly for both. I contacted my doctor and he cleared up the problem. But this was only because I was took the initiative. I asked Rayus on the phone why they didn't set it up for both feet but they didn't have an answer and didn't seem to care. Also, my husband had an ultrasound there because he was having pain in his abdomen. But he never got the results. Just one day after contacting the doctor who didn't get the results either, the results came in. But the responsibility fell on us to get the ball rolling. What if either of us had something serious that required immediate attention? Serious issues stand a better chance of being treated if they are caught early.....

Super sketchy location. As I was walking to my appointment, I observed a houseless person using…read moredrugs very close to the building., and there were several more tents nearby. Once I got inside, the receptionists seemed rather lackadaisical and uninviting. While I was filling out my paperwork, a man came in and started apologizing rather loudly for his girlfriend's rude behavior a couple days earlier, which was also off putting. Once it was time for my MRI, I changed, then went into the MRI room. The person giving my MRI offered me headphones to listen to music of my choice, which was nice, because MRI machines are quite noisy. About a week later, I received very thorough results and notes from the doctor. Hopefully, I will not need a MRI again anytime soon, but if I do, I will choose another location.

I feel that I stuck with the facts but you'll have to decide for yourself. All Siker had to do was take a look at the imaging and the first report compared to the second instead of ignoring me for three weeks until I escalated this and he finally responded. I'm still so disappointed in all of this.

My doctor ordered an "US RETROPERITONEAL COMPLETE" (medical speak for an ultrasound of my kidneys…read moreand bladder). Seems my kidney function is in a slight decline. Most likely due to a medication I'm taking - let's hope so anyway. I must have been the last appt of the day as when I got to the hospital the place was absolutely dead. It was quiet like a library. Even got a parking spot on the street right across the street. How does THAT happen in downtown Portland??? But don't fret, they have free valet parking at the front entrance. Just pull up and a nice man comes out, gives you a pickup ticket and parks your car for you. Anyway, I had already checked in online -if you don't do this ahead of time you really need to. It saves so much time and you you don't have to answer all the same questions over and over or pull out your ID and proof of insurance cards. At the door I was COVID-screened and then checked in at the Main Desk. I was directed to take the elevator to the 2nd floor, make a left and go to the door that says "Ultrasound" and wait. Someone would come out for me. The signage is a little confusing and I ended up in the radiology waiting room. No worries. The radiology technician came out and found me and took me into a waiting ultrasound procedure room. I was told to lay down on the table (no need to undress) and she began by putting some warmed gel on the ultrasound probe and placed it on my stomach. First she scanned my VERY FULL bladder. I had to drink and hold 32 oz of water one hour before my appt. This is sometimes difficult for females like me over a certain age, but gosh darn, I did it! Then she moved up to scan both kidneys. It took about 15 minutes total. No pain. No discomfort (except my nerves wondering when I'd get the results). When she said "You are free to go" I thanked her, hurried to the nearest bathroom and then back out to my car. This morning I had the test results in my email "Urinary bladder is of normal configuration" and both kidneys were "Normal size and appearance. No hydronephrosis (swelling), renal stones, or soft tissue masses identified." They even measured them!!! How many people know the actual size of their kidneys??? The whole process was easy, went smoothly, I'm thankful and relieved. and every person I encountered was kind and welcoming. I was glad the hospital was so quiet too. So, the moral of this story is, don't be afraid of getting an ultrasound, it's easy peasy at the Legacy Good Samaritan Imaging & Radiology Dept. And they all lived happily ever after...let's hope anyway.
