    Beer for days...
    Courtney O.

My husband and I have been on beer tours around the world. Belgium, Hawaii, been there, drank that. So when we traveled to Vancouver, we couldn't pass this up. We did it and I'm here to say... This tour is legit! Our tour consisted of Bomber Brewing, Main Street Brewing, and Storm Brewing. We got a quick tour at each location and about 5 or 6 samples. We also had the option to purchase food or additional drinks. My husband picked up a growler at each location to commemorate this awesome tour with. From start to finish, it was amazing. Our tour guide was superb and even recommended other breweries to stop at during the rest of our trip. The van was very comfortable and clean. I love that the breweries rotate. We actually thought of signing up for another beer tour the next day because they were different breweries! I think we will do this tour every time we visit Vancouver. I mean, getting shuttled around from brewery to brewery. It would be silly not to! Vancouver Brewery Tours also does private tours if you wanted to book one for a bachelor party or birthday party. That sounds freaking awesome! I'd move to Vancouver alone for that perk. The tour also came with free drink tickets at Rouge and a cool Vancouver Brewery Tours beer glass. I would highly recommend this tour to all my fellow beer lovers all over the world!

Jamie was a hell of a guide! Super friendly, super knowledgeable, perfect guide for our 3-hour tour of Main Street Brewing, Off the Rail, and Strange Fellows (the group's collective favorite). Absolutely worth the trip for craft beer snobs and newbies alike. A highlight of my week in Vancity.

Our tour with VBTs was great- super fun, well timed, and of course, beer! Our guide, Rachel, was fabulous. The breweries were fun, a great selection if places with Brassneck, Storm and Bomber. In addition to having a great time, I forgot my wallet in the bus and Rachel went out of her way to make sure I could get it back! Pretty important since it was New Year's Eve. Big thumbs up- I'll do the tour again for sure! Thank you!

I was given a gift certificate to this for my birthday. I wasn't that excited about it because I had been to 2/3 breweries that we were going to visit but it turned out to be really great. Our tour guide, Ryan, was also the owner and you could tell he was passionate about beer and he was incredibly knowledgable. He did a great job of getting everyone to interact with one another and overall it was a great afternoon!

    Reserved seating and tasty beer!

Got out for a tour today with Vancouver Brewery Tours. We hit Brassneck, Strange Fellows and Storm. We met at Waterfront station which was very convenient having taken the Skytrain in to town. Our tour guide Rachel met us and the rest of the attendees and away we went. Along the way she gave us a history of BC craft beer and I learned a bunch of things I did not know before and I'm a local beer geek! At the first two breweries we got a tour, we talked about the process of beer making and Rachel answered everyone's questions with her wealth of knowledge in the brewing industry. We then arrived at a reserved space to out awaiting flights of beer. The conversations with the "out of towners" was great and the quality of all the beers was top notch. I would highly recommend this tour to visitors and locals alike! In fact with multiple breweries on the tour I would definitely go again! Cheers!

Not only can you not lose because this is a FREE tour...but you will gain so much interesting info!…read more I'm sure hopping on and off a bus would be just fine, but for us, with just one short day in this vast city, we were looking for a quick connection, and that's exactly what we got on this recent Sunday. We met our tour guide, Ali at the designated time (11am) at the designated place, and 20 or so of us enjoyed an incredibly interesting walking tour of Chinatown. There is no way we would have gotten the feel for this city had we not taken this tour. Several folks were repeat tour guy visitors, so they must have enjoyed those as well. Our group had folks from several countries. It is a relaxed tour at a pace that is just right...not too fast and not too slow. Seriously, just right! And absolutely everyone in our group was happy to hand over generous thank you tips. Well-deserved. Ali was kind enough at the end of the tour to guide anyone who wanted dining suggestions or directions. For us, he was even kind enough to let us walk along with him since we were heading in the same direction. As a result, we were fortunate enough to get an extended tour, as he remained a wealth of Vancouver info as we went along. Highly recommend!

It was just after noon when I was on the False Creek Seawall approaching Science. I needed lunch and a cold drink and I remembered a friend had recommended RTB to me. The GPS on my phone soon promptly took me there. It was after the lunch rush by the time I got there. It wasn't very busy and I was able to find a table on the patio after I had placed the order. I took my Road Trip Classic Lager with me to the table while I waited for my corned beef hash with fried eggs. The lager was crisp, light and refreshing and it went down quickly but I made sure there would be enough left with my lunch. My over easy eggs on the hash was fried perfectly with brown edges while the yolks were still running to allow the creamy cholesterol goodness seep down to the potatoes and corned beef pieces underneath. The hash was seasoned perfectly with no spices overpowering the potatoes and corned beef pieces. I had a very nice lunch in a somewhat industrial surroundings. Other than a transport truck backing in to the loading dock next to the patio when I was there, everything else seemed to have come to a standstill affording the patrons a lazy Friday afternoon.

Did the gastown food tour with Dina…read more The good: -Dina was super awesome. Friendly, funny and super attentive kind spirit (I sound like such a hippie). We told her we were planning a picnic for the next day and not only did she tell us about Grandville Island and it's amazing market, she handwrote us a shopping list on what items to get for an amazing picnic(it was delish). - The food was awesome. We visited four places and each was pretty good. My favorite was the Meat and Bread sandwich. As someone who is trying to give up pork (and failing miserably) I just want to point out that two our of the four places had pork dishes, so if you have dietary needs/preference, let them know ahead of time so they can pick items to accommodate you (they partner with 8 different restaurants so there are plenty of food options). I also loved that many of the restaurants they choose partner with local farms. - My hubbie and I were lucky that we had an awesome group and everyone was super friendly and lovely. The bad: None! Final verdict: Will try to downtown when (not if) I return to Vancouver.

Carlos, the owner, was nice enough to let a friend and me join the Gastown tour at the last minute. We met our guide, Cassandra, as well as the other two people on the tour at the Waterfront train station. Our first stop - Rogue Kitchen and Bar - was at the station and then we walked several blocks down to "Blood Alley" for a "wine and cheese" tasting at Salt. That was followed by Caribbean cuisine at Calabash, and finally, modern Chinese food at Bambuddah. All of the tastings were paired with alcoholic beverages, or non-alcoholic drinks upon request. 1. Rogue Kitchen and Bar 3 local beers - red truck lager, fat tug IPA, and blue buck pale ale Fried Brussels sprouts Bang bang chicken Lobster mac and cheese 2. Salt tasting room Three wines or specialty fizzes (orange, guava, and black currant) Goat cheese, organic honey, sicilian salami, dried cherries, corned beef, and mustard. 3. Calabash Ginger beer, rum, nutmeg cocktail Chicken skewers, veggie/chicken/beef patties, plantain chips 4. Bambudda Tsui Hang which is a cold tea made with Budweiser syrup, iron buddha tea, and moondog bitters Chicken skin, duck bun and cherries, and rice pudding with banana puree, pineapples, and almonds. Although we had a nice time and great company, this tour wasn't the best value. It was very expensive - $105 CAD - as far as food tours go and there was little more to this 3-hour tour than just going from place to place to eat (and drink). Most tours include more information on the surrounding area, discussion (or tasting) of the local cuisine, and perhaps a chance to meet the chefs or to learn about the restaurants. Also, I think that the price should be cheaper for people who do not partake in the alcoholic offerings. So, -1 star for the value and -1 star for the guide.

Very bad business practice…read more We booked a 3pm tour. It was the last day that we are in Vancouver, we would be flying home that night. At 1:45pm, after we have planned our whole day around the excursion and checked out of the hotel in preparation of this tour, Sea Vancouver office called and said they are cancelling my tour because they "need a minimum of 4 people and only 3 people booked". I explained that we are leaving the city that day, and we planned our whole day around this, and if there is anything they can do. It is unreasonable to only notify me 75 minutes prior to departure time - we were already on the way to the departure point! The only thing they said was that they will refund me in full (I'd better hope so since you cancelled it with incredibly short notice!) I understand that it may not be economical to operate a tour based on fixed cost, but this was NOT written anywhere when I booked it on the official website, but they were happy to take my money when I booked. The confirmation email stated "We reserve the right to delay or cancel a departure for events beyond our control (e.g. adverse weather conditions, technical or mechanical issues, etc.)" -- well, operating a boat when there are "only" 3 paying customers is definitely in their control, they just choose to screw over their customers. This has put a really sour taste on my trip to Vancouver. I would encourage everybody to stay away.
