The residential refrigerator in my class A motor coach stopped working and I called around several…read morelocal counties to find a repairman. Having been in the RV community for over 15 years I've grown accustomed to a wide variety of repair services from factory repair to mobile services. Since we live in our coach for six months of a year utilizing a factory or dealer shop often requires leaving my coach with them and renting a motel nearby so they can do the work. A process that is often more costly and certainly more time consuming. Ideally for most of my needs a mobile service provider is best for us. However locating someone knowledgeable, reliable and fairly priced is, in most cases, nearly impossible to find. In the case of the refrigerator problem I was now having I started calling around the southwestern Michigan area so find someone. I started with the manufactures service hotline and they put me in touch with someone in the area; who once learned that the refrigerator was in a motor home quickly advised me they would not do repairs in a motorhome. The next place I called said they'd work on it but it had to be outside the coach to perform any service. When I told them that required the removal of my one piece windshield and a fork lift to remove the refrigerator they respectfully declined. The next service provider said they'd call me back with a service date .. but never did. After several more rejections I was getting discouraged and desperate as not having a working refrigerator/freezer is just not feasible. I then got a call from Scott Barber. Owner of "Extra Wrench Home & Industrial Services" located nearby in Bangor Michigan. I hadn't recalled trying to reach him earlier but at this point anyone who was even mildly interested in helping me out had my attention. After explaining my situation we set up an appointment time. He said 8:00am Monday sharp. Having heard those words from previous services people I presumed that meant sometime Monday ... but certainly not at that exact time. That Monday arrived and as hope often springs eternal, I got up ready to open the door at 8:00am sharp. I opened the curtains at 7:55am and by golly he's sitting in the driveway. A knock at the door and he was ready to work. What a pleasant surprise! He had a proper uniform on, was well groomed, and ready to work! He started diagnosing my problem. Obviously not a part swapper as he logically worked through the alternatives as what could be the cause. I've endured others working on my coach over the years who just started replacing expensive components without knowing if they were faulty but just hoping they'd stumble across the solution. Not the case with Scott Barber. As he went through his diagnostic process and at one point reached an 'aha' moment explaining he'd found the problem. I'm no mechanic but do comprehend and appreciate any explanations a repairman wants to share with me. Scott did just that. Explained as he proceeded what and why he was doing it. As it turned out I had a burned out defroster circuit control board. He even took a quick picture of it to show me the burned out components. He said he did not have the replacement part with him and would have to order it. He expected he have it by that following Friday. He then thawed out the ice caked system that at least provided some cooling so we would lose all our food due to spoilage. This was certainly a welcomed, short term solution till he returned. He was on site for about 2 hours that Monday. He called the next day and said the OEM (not third party) part had been ordered and he'd expect to see me that Friday. Wednesday he called and said the part came in and would like to return Thursday. I happily agreed and at 8:00am sharp Friday he was back to install the part. He took about an hour and everything was working properly. He cleaned up his work space, I paid him and he left. About a week later he called and asked how the refrigerator was working. I had nothing but good news that it was working like new. I don't ever recall any serviceman in the past who took the time to do that kind of followup. So as you've probably concluded by now I can easily support Scott Barber and his Extra Wrench operation. He's the consummate professional who prices his services fairly and understands the concept of 'customer satisfaction'. Phil & Sharon Madarasz

After careful observation over the next couple of days, less than 50% of the tasks noted in their agreement for a general cleaning did not occur. I also noticed trash put in my vanity and signs that personal belongings in my bedroom appeared to have been handled. This included makeup that showed signs of use and one product that was fully used up. I shared these concerns with the company but did not receive a response at that time. A manager later contacted me to discuss the invoice. During the call, I attempted to explain my experience, but the conversation felt tense and one-sided, with limited opportunity to fully share my perspective. I was told the company guarantees 100% customer satisfaction, but my concerns about the service and communication were not addressed in a way that reflected that standard.
