(In fact, I can't remember a time when the edges had not been mowed.) There are plenty of trash cans along the trail if you need them and, once again, I have never seen these cans neglected. There are also benches that offer a nice view if you wish to take a break or just want to find a nice quiet spot to relax in. Overall, this forest preserve is an excellent place for a little outdoor exercise and some fresh air.

Harbor park is a sweet little area that has so much to offer…read more Easy to get to. Abundant parking is available for sightseeing or museum visits but is not intrusive to the aesthetics to the area. Interesting statues and artwork adorn the park. Views of the harbor, lake and lighthouse create a gorgeous backdrop for postcard worthy photos. Sometimes you will see the vintage trolley roll by. The weekly farmers market brings tons of visitors and locals to this area. Walkers are dotted along the path next to the harbor. Sit and sip your latte from Harborside Common Grounds along the waterfront. So many things to do near here. This is a must stop on my visits to Kenosha!

Tons of parking available. A huge amount of picnic table seating around the small stage. Plenty of activities happen all throughout the week.On the different days. The beer garden has a wide selection of beverages and also has large refillable beer stein's available for purchase. All the food that came out of the kitchen looked absolutely amazing. We tried the kenosha Pizza and also the pretzel, which was accompanied with somersausage cheese, curds, a delicious mustard and an absolutely incredible cream cheese type dip.I highly recommend it. Music was done at nine o'clock and the beer garden closes at ten. Played an interesting game which you can view in the photos. Very kid and dog friendly with a playground and dog park nearby. Wasn't able to walk through the rest of the park , but had an amazing time just at the beer garden. Stay thirsty my friends.

North Point Marina has plenty of places for putting a boat, but it's more than that. Also there's entertainment. There's things like banquets and live music. Came here the last time, and went to the beer garden. It has Harbor beers on tap. There's also cocktails, so you can get whatever. It's about $9 for a cocktail. The Harbor Lagoon is a good one. Could say it's a deceptively strong one, plus it's pretty cool looking. This is made with Blue Curacao, Long Island Mix, orange juice, pineapple juice, and Sprite. Also got some of the Knotty Pretzels, good with beer. There's not much in the way of food, but you can bring something to eat on the patio for sure. Have some good drinks and fun while boating. It's also close to a pretty cool nature preserve. This also has live music in the summer on weekends.

We rented a shelter at Hastings Lake, Lake Villa. The shelter has indoor flush bathrooms,…read morefireplace, ceiling electric heaters, drinking fountain, grill, & plenty of picnic tables. According to website: shelter description says "exclusive use" of these facilities. When we got there, the ceiling heaters were not wired in, unusable but someone stocked the firewood, assuming it was LCFP - but we still don't know. As we were setting up for the party, tableware, decorations, etc - clearly anyone can see there was going to be a private event. Around 10am a stranger walks into the shelter to use the indoor bathroom, my daughter called out to him, please don't use the bathroom as we reserved the shelter, this is a private event. The man ignored my daughter, of course he used the bathroom & on way out - he called us a bunch of losers. Later, he called the LCFP ranger complaining, the ranger called me - saying the bathrooms are public use no matter that we paid a permit reserving the shelter. I told the ranger, the stranger was very rude & could've been courteous, (we're not animals, of course we would've obigled) while I was trying to explain that, the Ranger interrupted me & said I needed to "stop talking" (and listen) as the Ranger said the stranger did not have to thank us or apologize. I called LCFP to report the Ranger & state what's said on the website "exclusive use" is not correct or the Ranger is wrong & whatever the policy - I suggest you make it clear. All I could do is leave a message to return my call, as of today - no call back. I'm posting this because there will be another rude person invading someone's paid reservation of Shelter A at Hastings Lake. How can LCFP expect patrons who paid the permit be OK with strangers walking in on a private event? If the bathrooms doors were not facing "outside" the shelter or the bathrooms in their own building, I could go along with allowing for pubic use - but that's not the case & as the website description "exclusive use" is not true.

Singing Hills is a beautiful open area with the Millennium Trail winding through it. As the name…read morewould suggest, the trail through this preserve is quite hilly. From the trailhead you can get to Lakewood going south or Marl Flat going north. The biggest negative about this preserve is there is no loop trail. At the trail head there is parking, drinking water, and toilets. There is also horse trailer parking, a hitching rail, and a mounting post (and an additional water pump is also near this area). You can hike, bike, horseback ride, snowmobile, and cross-country ski at this preserve. The old barn owned by Singing Hills Farm still stands on the property at the trail head.
