Vero Moda

I didn't even realise Vero Moda had its own shops until this one appeared in Silverburn! I had seen…read morethe concessions in other stores but never a free standing store before. I don't think the way this store is furnished represents the stock well. Everything is very dark and basic and you could be forgiven for thinking that the stock is going to be like that as well. Even the Vero Moda logo is kind of boring. However if you venture inside you'll find some very cute and feminine dresses as well as some great casual tops for layering. The prices are fair for the quality of clothing you are getting and I think Vero Moda, like H&M and Zara is a great reminder that it isn't only the British that do high street retailing incredibly well!
I had never paid much attention to Vero Moda stores in other locations such as Sauchiehall Street…read moreand even Dublin as they always seemed a little unwelcoming somehow but this one, located in Silverburn shopping centre, seems much more appealing with it's wide arch doorway and inviting window display. Black and classy, it remains open and breezy. The layout is ideal for top and dress-spotting - I always see more and more as I wander down the shop until I reach the back which always seems to have something on special offer neatly stacked on a table just before the airy changing rooms (and so it would be rude not to try something on). Despite never having bought something in the city centre branch, I have picked up several things from this one and it is one of my favourite stores in Silverburn. The staff are lovely too always admiring your purchase so you feel tip-top as you leave the store. Good shopping experience all round :)

I'm one of the laziest shoppers around so I can't say I enjoy going to TK Maxx - I walk in excited and that diminishes within about 30 seconds when I see the racks of picked-through clothes. This TK Maxx is pretty big, split over two levels. I've visited tonnes of times but can't remember ever finding anything for myself here - it seems like the clothes on the women's section are all from the 90s so maybe I'm missing the secret. There is a good range in the homewares section however, and I like how the handbags are presented along a whole wall so it's easy to see what you like. It's worth a visit but you've got to be in the right frame of mind and put in the effort to get the goods. One day that might happen to me.

Bought it and returned an hour later after noticing a big rip in it I know I should check every inch of items before I purchase but you would think that they wouldn't be putting these items on the rack in the first place! I just hate the idea of constant browsing through tonnes of mismatched garments Place gives me a headache

The United Colours Of Benetton
I thought that The United Colours Of Benetton went out of fashion in the mid 90's but this huge…read morebranch bang in the middle of Silverburn indicates that I'm wrong. The bizarre thing about this shop is that it's absolutely huge and the way that the clothes are laid out makes it look even bigger and seemingly empty. Most of the clothes are displayed on the walls but there's not really much going on in the middle of the shop so even if there are a lot of people in it always looks completely void of customers. Benetton is probably best for their jumpers, plain t-shirts and they have a good selection of sports clothing too, particularly womens. So if you're looking for some hot new threads to hit the gym with then you will find a good selection of top quality joggy bottoms and tees here.

It seems that raw controversy doesn't sell jumpers these days, and Benetton have toned down the bloodthirsty advertising and went down the 21st century minimalist route. I'm not sure how well it's worked, as it seems one of Silverburn's quieter shops, but for well made, well cut, but perhaps a bit sterile gear, it's still a safe bet.

I've loved H&M since I moved to the UK and I like that they do affordable fashion pretty well. This store is a decent size and has a good range, with the added bonus that it is pretty tidy too. I found a few dresses I liked and grabbed them without trying them on (change rooms are just too much of an effort for my liking when shopping, all that dressing and undressing). The shop assistant was friendly and helpful and I was quickly out of there. My three purchases - two dresses and a skirt - came to less than £50 which is pretty reasonable, and only one item needs returning for not fitting properly. No big deal though, the other two items are perfect so that's a win for me. While I'm not sure I'd ever head out of my way to go shopping here, I do like it for a quick browse if there's something in particular I'm looking for. I love their basics range and am well chuffed with my black dress I got - a nice sleeve and shape to it, and comfy material. Win.
