A day after posting my first review I heard from the shop. I told Perry what I wanted and he said…read moreit could be done in 2-3 hours. He wanted me to call and make an appointment without seeing any art which would have required a deposit. I ended up going to another shop and got an amazing tattoo that took 6 hours. I love this bathroom. First and foremost, they had a little basket with ladies products in it and…read morepotpourri spray! A must! And then in the basket they also had a little plant with a cute panda figurine in it so it looks like it's climbing the little plant. The ambiance of the bathroom is homey and had so many different artworks on the walls that you can look at while you're using the bathroom. The environment of the bathroom fosters a comfortable feeling for people getting a tattoo! If you plan on getting a tattoo, don't worry about being scared of the bathroom! It's great :)

I got a tattoo from Eric Jenks of Fish Ladder Tattoo in October of 2007. There are only two artists…read morein the shop: Eric Jenks and Chris Boilore. Both of these guys used to work at Splash of Color in East Lansing and have robust portfolios. I came to Eric with only a vague idea of what I wanted and Eric drew up a GREAT design for me; it was absolutely perfect! These guys are definitely artists. I would say my tattoo was moderately priced (I believe I paid $140 + tip for about 3 hrs of work). I know someone with a lot of work by Chris and her tats are all very beautiful as well. The shop itself is quaint and clean, very welcoming. Located in Old Town Lansing. I definitely suggest checking out Fish Ladder if you are in the Lansing area!

My tattoo experience was extremely stressful and ended up very poor overall here. I had to go see…read moreanother artist to get fixed what I could, and the owner of Vivid Ink chose to keep my deposit after respectfully explaining my concerns with his work and canceling my future appointments a month and 2 months in advance. This was a cover up and rework piece and the owner gave me little to no options on it while making it sound like it was impossible to do and coming across very crass when I voiced any ideas or concerns about a large piece of ink that would be on my body for life. I paid and tipped them very well for work I was very unhappy with and not what I asked for with unnecessary shading in one part that has to get corrected, and still thd last jab was not even being willing to refund a $100 deposit. Highly stressful experience to end a stressful experience of a 13 year old bad tattoo being made into a worse tattoo until I try to have it fixed. I wish there would've been more collaboration and empathy and professionalism in the work and communication. I also feel it would've been more professional and safe feeling to show any needles being used being opened to the client, and disclose ink ingredients.

The shop is clean and well ran and truly a great atmosphere. Now on to my tattoos, I had my first from Davon and it was everything I wanted it to be. Such crisp work and truly can not thank him enough. Now on to Howard. Where do I begin? He is an amazing person first; and truly a fantastic person to just talk too, but we have started working on my Spider-Man sleeve and it is absolutely amazing work! I can not believe how lucky I am to have him work on this! See attached for a photo of a character or two. If you are in the hunt of a new shop or need of a tattoo. Look no further than vivid!
