This bank is a nightmare to deal with. Getting a loan here felt like pulling teeth while…read moreblindfolded. Nobody answers calls, emails go into a black hole! The process was painfully slow, disorganized, and honestly felt like they couldn't care less if I got approved or not. I spent weeks chasing basic updates while they acted like doing their job was a favor. The VP, Richard Livingston is the best he gets on a zoom call for appearances! The man was rude, spoke to others around me but never to me. They will tell you he loves to get on the phone with customers to put a face to the name you know customer service! Don't bother! After paying the $5,000 fee for "due diligence" I got nothing, not a copy of the appraisal not a denial or approval! Don't bother trying to reach anyone above they simply do not care so save your money and find a real bank that knows how to conduct themselves and knows how to handle real estate transactions! If you enjoy wasting time, being ignored, and questioning your life choices, this is the bank for you. Otherwise, RUN.

Industrial Bank Financial Institution doesn't understand how to handle power of attorney documents…read moreand has staff that can't execute them or explain why they can't. Sadly, I have to give Industrial Bank a 1-star review. As a media personality who produced their radio commercials during my tenure at Radio One in the late 80s and 90s, I remember the owners' desire to do the best they could for the black community. My recent experience was a disappointing departure from that original core mission. When I went to the bank to help my 96-year-old aunt execute a power of attorney yesterday, the assistant branch manager, DeVonna Young, displayed incompetence and ignorance of both bank policies and legal requirements. She did not understand the importance of a power of attorney document or the role of a notary in relation to it. When asked what policy or law stated that a power of attorney was invalid, she responded by threatening to have us, including my 96-year-old aunt, removed from the bank by security. My aunt has been trying to get the bank to acknowledge her power of attorney for two years. The previous manager also failed to understand the document's importance, making my aunt go through unnecessary steps only to dismiss the notarized document as invalid. This is unacceptable for a bank claiming to serve the black community. They should at least have the curiosity to lawfully or, legally understand the code, rule or policy on the matter. The prior branch manager, now retired, also declined my aunt's notorzed power of attorney out of ignorance, without providing any policy, code, or regulation. This type of arbitrary decision-making echoes the harmful practices of redlining that banks have historically used against the black community. Now, we're experiencing a new kind of discrimination where employees' ignorance or lack of knowledge affects lawful access to accounts. My aunt has needed access to her husband's account since May 2022. This long-term ignorance has placed an unnecessary burden on our family and community. Their incompetence did not offer any policy, rule, regulation, or remedy to help us understand their declination. It reminds us of the historical friction our community has faced with banks and still continues to face now, from our own. This experience is particularly shameful given the bank's historical commitment to the community. I hope someone knowledgeable and credible will contact my aunt today to resolve this issue. Ms. Young I'm sure remembers us. This situation highlights a broader issue that could affect many others who need to use power of attorney documents to manage their loved ones' accounts. Do better, Industrial Bank. Return to the days when you aimed to serve our community, not burden it with condescending attitudes and lack of professionalism. I'll keep y'all posted! Update: The Bank responded with a generic post. This is unacceptable. Your Ass. manager Ms. Young was to call my aunt asap and did not. This response falls short, it's flat and it's "out of touch". This is sad to see! 2nd update: They still didn't call back my aunt and they appear to be eternally confused about how to handel a notarized document. The owner's email bounced back... leaving one with the impression he's not interested in feed back. It's sad to see a one time champion in the community...fall to low level "curb side" tactics & behaviors.

She is a true model of what coaching is all about. She helped me identify years worth of BS that I'd hidden from myself. I felt liberated and full of possibilities while working with Cat and highly, highly recommend her. She's non-judgmental and also willing to challenge you when you need a gentle nudge. I'm a better coach, leader and entrepreneur after having worked with Cat. She also helped me celebrate more and invest in my happiness and self-care in a way that is refreshing and sustainable. What a joy!

Coaching did help me figure out some of those things, but more than that I learned to accept responsibility for every aspect of my life. That wasn't easy at times and it was really great being in a supportive group watching others learn those lessons too. But what was really special about the experience was that Cat didn't just offer support and accountability for what I thought I should be working on. She challenged me to turn my attention towards things I was actively avoiding, the things I was afraid to face. Now, I finally understand that I create all of it--the good and the bad. I'm more confident about what I truly want and I know I have all the power, time and energy that I need to keep changing my life.

It has been so helpful to work with Kevin these past couple of months! When my husband and…read more I were initially searching for some support with our finances, we were looking for someone who could meet us at our level and explain financial topics in ways we could understand ( HSAs, Roth IRAs, Traditional IRAs, HYSAs, etc.) We were looking for someone who help us understand our current financial picture and whether we were saving enough to be able to retire at our desired age, be able to enjoy our current hobbies of traveling, and pay for medical expenses we will have. As a woman who got married later and came to my marriage with assets, I wanted to make sure I was making smart financial decisions with regards to my investments, savings, and spending habits as I know I will take home less money than my husband. We found that in Kevin and are so grateful for his knowledge and guidance. Kevin has helped me understand my financial portfolio and adjust my investment choices to match my financial goals. He has a unique approach to providing guidance with regards to finances which involves front loading the work together with weekly meetings the first month followed by check-ins and continued financial information through articles on various financial topics. We highly recommend working with Kevin if you are looking for solid guidance around your finances.

I also didn't know if I was being too hasty in pursuing a financial advisor when I was just starting out; was the investment in a financial planner worth it considering I had little assets, a moderate paycheck, and student loan debt? Since I was rather anxious in not wanting to make mistakes that could impact the rest of my financial life, I decided to look into Kevin. His website drew me in with his focus on millennials and the unique financial challenges we face. He seemed real and truthful which is what I was looking for above all else. Someone to give me real, concrete advice, and not take advantage of me considering my limited understanding in "adult" finances. After my first free consultation I knew I was in good hands and that his website accurately reflected his values. Although it was a financial investment to get a financial planner, Kevin has helped me set up a future that is beyond worth the money I spent/spend. We continue to have check-ins as my financial situation changes and he never holds judgement when I need a concept explained or broken down considering money has a lot of jargon. I now feel confident in my plans for paying off my student debt, investing in my future, and living a normal life all at the same time. I recommend him to all my friends and coworkers when conversations turn to finances as we all navigate this often challenging money world.
