I've been to Valley View Surgery Center a few times now, and this was my second visit with Dr. Hijazi for (both times) carpal tunnel release. The intake process was super fast and easy. I completed everything online and then followed up with a phone call. The person I spoke with was professional, friendly, and efficient. The whole process took less than five minutes, which I really appreciated. On the day of surgery, the waiting room was very busy. From what I understand, surgery days tend to be packed since many doctors are not in office that day, so that was expected. Check in itself was easy, but the woman at window one came across as a bit demanding and not very friendly. Her tone felt rushed and not very professional, which was a little off putting. After check in, the wait was over 20 minutes. Once I was called back and taken to the bays, everything moved along quickly. You're required to have an IV connected as a precaution. I changed into a gown with booties and a hat, and the prep process was smooth. Dr. Hijazi came in, marked my arm, explained everything clearly, and administered the local anesthesia. The facility itself was clean and well maintained. Aside from the initial check in experience, the rest of the staff were very kind, helpful, and reassuring. When I was taken to the back, Dr. Hijazi's surgical team was amazing. They worked well together and made the environment feel calm and comfortable. I even asked if I could watch the procedure. While I couldn't see as much detail as the doctor could, it was still a cool and interesting experience. The entire team made it a positive one. Overall, despite a longer wait and a less than warm front desk interaction, my experience was very good. Dr. Hijazi and his crew were fantastic, the procedure went smoothly, and I left feeling well cared for. I would definitely return and recommend this surgery center, especially for Dr. Hijazi and his team. read more

Their website needs improvement as far as patients are concerned. I could not find anywhere on the website when you click on the "For Patients" tab that allows for pre-registration for your procedure. I went round and round but did not find anything concise that directed me where to go. That part was lacking. It needs to be simpler to navigate. And I am quite tech savvy. I got to the check in window and paid my insurance co-pay, and the woman at the desk asked me if I completed my patient portal via the text link which I never received at all after giving her my phone number once again. Nothing. However, I was able to provide the necessary information, and managed to get myself checked in. I DO agree with previous reviews, when my Husband and I got there, the waiting room was FULL to capacity. There were people sniffling and coughing which caused us some concerns. We caught Covid prior in another hospital waiting room. It was nerve wracking. I wish people in tiny waiting areas such as this would be required to wear a mask to prevent germ transmission of any sort, especially during Flu Season. Germs can cling to skin and clothing, and other surfaces while waiting to go in. If ever I have ANY future procedures done at this facility, I will book the first time slot of the day. I got called back to the surgical triage area and was tended to fairly promptly. Each staff member who tended me pleasantly introduced themselves to me and asked me if I had any questions. First was the nurse who inserted my I.V. line who was friendly and did it with ease without much discomfort on the first try. Second, the attending nurse came in and introduced herself and also asked if I had any questions. Thirdly, was the Anesthesiologist who came in and introduced himself, and saw that I was extremely anxious and nervous pre-procedure. He reached out and grabbed my hand and assured me that I was in good hands. I can't thank him enough for extending that kindness and care that you don't often find in the medical industry. He was TOP NOTCH! What a nice man! Compassion goes a LONG way. Commendable. I wish I remembered his name. I was extremely anxious. The most negative aspect of my procedural visit to VVSC was the level of volume and noise in the triage areas and desks outside by curtained bed. The nurses were loudly chit-chatting about skin care, and products, and some were on their cell phones in front the curtained prep area, and you could hear ALL their personal conversations with other co-workers right in front of you. One was casually sitting on a gurney in front of my triage bed while talking away to another female behind the desk. This was unnerving, because I feel conversations like this should be reserved for the break room. The back-and-forth conversation levels were surprisingly loud. Causing nervous, anxious patients being made to hear every detail. Laughing and giggling is fine for the appropriate time and place, but not in front of patients. I feel that they could have been much quieter and more respectful of that. I did not expect so much boisterous frivolity in a surgical prepping area. I just wanted to comment on that, and hope that management kindly reminds staff that there are patients there for serious, and potentially life-altering surgeries that need a calm space to try and decompress or meditate prior to what's being done to them. Quietly please. Not everyone wants to hear what you did the night prior. You know? Lastly, my Doctor V. Gandotra did my procedure, and he was reassuring from start to finish. He is the absolute nicest Doctor of Gastroenterology that I have ever known and is the GOLD standard of his field. I don't know what my results, or outcome will be, but it has been made better by knowing I am in his hands. A++ doctor. Let me start by saying I was so scared for my colonoscopy, my anxiety was at its max level. From the moment I walked into the building up until I spoke with the front desk, everyone there were so friendly. Little by little I started to feel better, I really felt like I was in gods hands. The entire staff made me feel so safe, especially my anesthesiologist, he came in like a rock star. I just believe him when he said I was going to be ok, I know some of these reviews complain about the wait time but I was in and out under an hour, and even if I had to wait for hours I wouldn't care as long as I made it out safe. Went for a procedure, waiting room is a bit busy and can feel a bit overwhelming, but when you get brought back the staff is wonderful. I was treated with nothing but kindness and respect. Staff constantly keeped updating me what was happening. Staff spoke to each other with kindness and from what I observed everyone seemed to enjoy their job and was pleasant. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy. The care I received was fantastic. EVERYone, from the person who calls you on the phone, to the person who checks you in, to the nurses (and anesthesiologist and doctor also, but they're their own team) are extremely nice and kind, they have great findings/discharge instructions (which they also tell you about verbally), I was OUT for the whole thing, don't remember a thing from anesthesia going in to welcome back. My nurse had like the sweetest voice ever, I'm 47 and I wanted her to start reading me fairy tales while I waited to go in after the IV ha I've had a multitude of IVs and she's the ONLY person to ever tell me she'd do her best before doing the IV and that's when I knew she was GOOD, and I didn't feel it AT ALL, and I've felt some of the other ones I've had and been left with bruises before. They have the whole thing down so efficiently. Would definitely return. read more

Had a procedure done in Jan. They made me pay my deductible even though I told them I paid it already and they said it would be promptly refunded if that was the case. They were paid in full. I have a credit on my account. Have called multiple times to get a refund. Called again 60 days after they were paid. Said my refund still has nit been processed and will be another 45 days. Just getting the run around. They wont do the procedure without the payment but here I sit 60 days later still waiting for a refund read more

After more than a month and a half of trying to get the estimated cost of the procedures in writing, so I could submit for a 401k withdrawal to pay for the procedures, Valley View surgery center refused to provide me with a proposed treatment plan before payment. If I can get a quote in writing before a contractor works on my roof I should be able to get one before a Dr. probes my body. After I walked out I received a call from their office the next day asking why I didn't show up. I explained that I was there and left because they refused to give me a total in writing, the caller told me she would have to call me back and hung up. I ended up finding a different Dr. to perform my EGD at a different surgery center. Staff was rude and unprofessional I would never come back here. read more

Checked in area is too small with many patients+ a driver some patients wait outside the door and when they call the patient it's hard to hear the front desk due to noise with many people talking at the same time plus the TV was loud and the rest room is not enough for the volume of people inside, other than that when you go inside the prep room nurses and staff are all professional and friendly read more

Everything here could be improved. Scheduled a procedure at 12pm. Was recommended to arrive by 11am i actually arrived at 1030am. At 130pm I'm still waiting to have my procedure done. I'm starving since I was told no solid food for 24 hours prior to the procedure. What's worse is I had to wait almost 2 months to get this appointment! They are overbooked and understaffed. How is it possible that in 2025, this entire Surgery Center does not provide a billpay online webpage? For anyone who works 8 - 6 pm and does not have time to wait through the monologue and 10 min of information, plus waiting on billing, they are stuck trying to make a payment. Is it assumed that everyone can call during business hours? A patient is forced to try to edit their work hours, to call or send a check? Send a check for thousands of dollars? Get real. I could not understand the person I spoke to and lack confidence in their abilities. Prefer to pay online where I can enter my own credit card details and ensure it is entered correctly. Why is there no URL included in the Invoice so we can pay online, at our convenience? Not providing a URL for payment as part of the billing invoice- as every other medical center does - especially in 2025, is an intentional barrier to patients trying to pay their bill in a reasonable amount of time. My husband had a procedure scheduled for 11:30 and was told to be there at 10:25. We sat in the overflowing waiting room for three hours until called in for the procedure. Unfortunately we weren't the only ones, many patients had the same experience. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and so were the surgery staff, I know this mismanagement is not their fault, but someone is taking little to no consideration for the customers, only the bottom line. We will not be back or recommend this surgery center ever. read more

We had to be here at 6am for a follow up upper GI. Appointment was 8:30. The wait room was completely packed with no where to sit. We live 1/2 hour away and the transportation person (me) was to leave until I got a call. Front office was ok and there were lots of signs to read with instructions. I am so mad right now, probably should NOT write a review... We drove here from Arizona for my husband's procedure. Told to be here at 9:00 am; arrived at 8:50. Signed in and then the wait started. The lobby was so busy, they asked me to wait in the car! After several hours of waiting in the car without a call that hubby was ready for pickup, went back in and he was still waiting in the lobby!! Watched the staff receive their pizza lunch delivery and still we waited. Apparently, the "doctor was late." It's now 1:30 pm and we're still sitting here WAITING!!! They took great care of me! My Nurse Alex was wonderful great personality and bed side manners which is uber important in the medical profession Over all the Dr G and his team was wonderful to me. Now when I got to valley view inside the waiting room look like a swap meet! It was crazy going into the waiting room. The building is VERY small for the amount of patients that were present. There is not enough doctors, staff, or rooms to accommodate the number of patients. Every seat in the tiny waiting room was taken. My appointment was at 8:15, I was told to arrive an hour early, so I got there at 7:15. Was finally seen at 10:15. Was told the procedure would take 20 minutes, took close to 5 hours. I would find another office, or plan on it being all day. read more

Organization and being prepared should be priority in the medical profession at all times. Today, was totally avoidable. While waiting for my mother's name to be called for her surgery appointment, a staff member asked for the attention of the crowded waiting room to notify if anyone in the waiting room is not a patient they need to wait outside. Unfortunately this day it is very cold and windy. The staff at Medical District Surgery Center needs to do better. Check in was great, they called my husband within 25 minutes. I waited inside the lobby the whole time. 2 hours later I heard them call my name, but I'm not a patient, I checked with the front desk guy... he said: no, they will call your cell phone, this guy was not informed that they DO CALL family members to pick up the patient in the lobby! Of course they called my cell and it was marked as a scam call...hubby sat for an hour in a wheelchair while I was in the lobby... the nurses that brought him out were very nice. Still!!! This is one of the best run surgery centers. I feel they constantly were attentive to all the patients, and ran like clock work. With care and understanding all their needs. I had a colonoscopy, got prepped, waited my turn, then rolled into the surgery room, rolled to my side and I woke up in the recovery room. The easiest surgery ever. Great staff!! I come to get my procedures done several times a year. Lately though I have had some issues with a couple of the nurses bed side manner. March 19th, 2022 procedure has prompted me to give this review. Customer Service overall from 98% of the staff honestly is amazing. The facility is always clean and they have the best aftercare snacks. Now on March 19th, 2022 a nurse by the name of Katrina G. Had such rude unprofessional bed side manner with me. I explained things to her about different issues with my veins & a couple other things. She was just completely unprofessional about it. Refused to listen to me. Asking questions about me medically very loudly. That other staff members have been extremely professional & discreet about. I had to complain to finally get an amazing nurse by the name of Agnes. At the end of the day. All the health care workers over the course of 10yrs have been amazing to me. I'm in and out of there every time. Yet it has been very disappointing these last couple times. More so than ever this very last time. Hopefully on my next up and coming procedure. This will be better. Thank you! read more

If you can please avoid this place and digestive associates.I was supposed to have an endoscopy procedure done today. I did all the preparation correctly by fasting after midnight. When I was finally called to come inside my heart rate was high at 161. The nurse said we'll check again in a few minutes then took me the bathroom to give a urine sample and change into the hospital gown. After this there was another nurse there who checked my heart rate and it went downhill from that point. There were a bunch of other staff who I presume are also nurses looking at the monitor then saying "omg that's so high" and only scaring me further. One of the nurses even said maybe she has svt to another nurse. After this entire mess the anesthesiologist came to speak to me and he only worsened how anxious I already was. From his words "if you were 65 years old I would be sending you to the er in an ambulance." he basically dismissed that my heart rate could be due to me being anxious for the procedure or even a medication side effect. I explained that I've had an ekg recently for a fast heart rate at the er which came back normal. I was told at that er visit it was likely anxiety as I don't have any health issues other than recent gi symptoms. Anyways he said he wouldn't be able to put me to sleep for the procedure and that I needed to schedule an ppointment with my family doctor. My issue isn't that they were unable to do the procedure due to my heart rate rather it was how they all continued to actively scare me when I was already anxious enough to start with. They also didn't take time to see if my heart rate would go down. Also if my heart rate is so concerning why wouldn't you tell me to go to an urgent care /emergency room? After all this I immediately went to southwest urgent care because I genuinely believed I was on the brink of a heart attack or other health crisis. After getting an ekg done, and labs everything came back normal. My initial heart rate at urgent care was also high but after receiving iv fluids (due to being dehydrated from the preparation for the endoscopy) I was down to 98. Anyways I know for a fact if I call they'll reschedule for 3+ months later which I won't do because I refuse to experience this again. read more

I had a procedure done this past Saturday and I was so impressed with the customer service and bedside manner of the team who took care of me. Special shout out to Ruthie, Agnes, Ingrid, Cassie, Marquee, Shannen and Erika. You ladies are AWESOME! Thank you for your service and dedication to making sure the patient feels comfortable and at ease. And of course thank you to the doctor and anesthesiologist...they were so wonderful. I have zero complaints about this place. Even the young lady at the front desk was great! This company should be very proud of their staff at this location. I fell in love with the staff at Valley View Surgery Center! It all began very early the Friday morning of my scheduled colonoscopy. My arrival time was 6:00am, the procedure would be at 8:30. I expected to wait in the lobby for at least an hour. And, lo, the angel Agnes appeared before me! Ok, not a real angel, Agnes is one of the RNs working the surgery prep side of the operation. She found that "Saferide," my insurance company's transportation contractor, had scheduled the wrong type of ride for me to get back home. (More on Saferide in another review.) In addition to helping me read the usual sheaf of documents for signature, Agnes also worked tirelessly to help resolve the transportation issue. She was relentless until the non-emergency ride was scheduled and a confirmation number was generated. Only then was I allowed to have the procedure. (Completely understandable) Except, my insurance company CANCELED the ride while I was sedated! I sat in the discharge area for two and a half hours trying to resolve the ride issue. Everyone at Valley View Surgery Center was kind, generous, concerned, caring, and obliging, and the list of positive adjectives goes on! Eventually, the amazing staff at VVSC were able to find a way for me to help me. My brain was still awash in anesthesia, but I was aware enough to understand that my angel Agnes and all of the rest were working above and beyond to get me home. I have no idea how to repay their dedication to their patient. As for the insurance/transportation people... well, that's another story! read more

Long wait! Nurse rude wouldn't help you get dressed. Wouldn't let you stand up or hold you up while you put your underpants or pants on. How are you supposed to put underwear and pants on laying in the bed. Hate this place. Won't be back for sure! read more

I checked in at 9am as directed after being up most of the night consuming the intestinal flushing liquid. After 2 hours I informed the desk & nurse that I felt my sugar was getting too low. They checked it and it was at the very lowest of the the acceptable amount allowed to do the procedure. After another hour & a half at 11:45am I was having a diabetic hypoglycemic episode. I fell over in my chair and begged the front desk to do something. Finally my driver carried me to the car and to 7-11 for orange juice. I don't know what's going on that I would be treated without some priority in this fasting situation, and let my sugar get so low after I begged for some type of juice. My sugar was 57, and I could have easily died. read more

Yesterday, I received a follow-up call from the surgery center to see how I was doing after a colonoscopy and endoscopy. He introduced himself as Ernie, as in Bert and Ernie. I chuckled. I said I was doing fine and while waiting for the procedures, I observed how everyone liked their job, worked well together and even had fun. I shared that a guy said he was going on his third break. The gal he said it to grabbed her back and said, "Oh...... my back! I'm carrying the load." He said, "That was me!" He thanked me for noticing. Funny guy! We had a nice chat. Made my day.
